A void of pure black darkness surrounded Jack Spicer. It was so thick that it could not be cut with a knife, or blasted by a laser. In addition, despite his efforts, his limbs were not responding to the most basic commands, to let him move, so he could get out of here. As they were not responding to such commands, at first Jack assumed he had been beaten up while he had been asleep. While this may not seem like the most rational assumption, considering who his rivals were, it was an assumption that sort of made sense. The next assumption was that he was paralyzed permanently. These assumptions were knocked out of the water when an individual who appeared to be made out of bright white pearl appeared in existence, in front of him.
“My name is Omni. This is not the world you know. This is the Omniverse. You interest me, so I have made you part of it. The Omniverse is a place that reflects the wishes of those who are part of it. But! There are rules. I will explain them only once, so listen carefully.”
When the individual spoke those words, Jack examined him. The individual did not look like the Cheese Ball, the Texan, Kimiko, or Raimundo. So, it was not their work. Perhaps a test from Chase Young? No, Chase wasn’t the type of individual to pull something like this. His tests usually made sense. Hannibal Roy Bean? Well he did have an item that allowed him to shapeshift, but somehow Jack doubted this was his work.
As he could do nothing else, Jack had to hear him out. Of course being immobilized and possessing no weapons on his person had something to do with that. Jack was in fact, in his pajamas, blue ones with stars all over them. Okay, so maybe he shouldn’t have worked on a Mech Suit when he was half asleep. Or any kind of asleep, for that matter. Jack made a mental note that he was definitely discovering where this Omni resided. And then he was going to do something about being stuck here. First though, he had to hear the rest of the spiel so he knew what he was up against.
After the Rainbow colored orb of “Omnilium” was handed over, Jack learned there were others brought here by this mad man. So apparently they were here to serve as little more than a soap opera, or entertainment for the individual. The individual was obviously full of himself, and immensely powerful if he could kidnap Jack, and everyone else. Yet something else stuck out in the mind of Jack, namely what had been said about Omnilium. If what had been stated was the truth of the matter, he could build a legion of Jackbots to help him explore the various places in this Omniverse.
And once he had explored the places, he’d know more about them, and the denizens. Obviously he’d have a lot of research to do. There had to be some sort of library, or somewhere he could go to research what he needed to learn.
Suddenly he was in a realm of almost blinding white. The contrast between the places stunned Jack Spicer for a moment. Forcing himself to recover, he looked around as his eyes adjusted. He was in some sort of Fountain, and there were eight gates. Two of them were the closest. One of the gates was guarded by a couple of individuals in what he could only describe as “Knight Armor” while another gate was more futuristic. The more futuristic gate had people clad in armor that appeared to be made out of an unknown white material. Places that were guarded were not places he was willing to go, at least until he knew more about the place he found himself in.
Step 1 was logical. First, and foremost, Food, Clothing and Shelter. More specifically clothing, and shelter, as he was in the buff. The orb could “create anything” but Jack was not sure how it did it. Perhaps some sort of nanobot thing that ate nearby matter? If that were the case, Jack could figure out how to reverse engineer Omnilium so that he could create more of the substance for himself. Before he’d do any of that, he had to figure out which way he was going to go from here. Another of the Gates upon further examination looked to be overgrown - so nope. No insects for Jack Spicer today, thank you very much. Finally he set his mind on one of them that appeared to sorta be made out of lava rock.
Climbing out of the Fountain, Jack started to imagine the outfit he needed. However, for some odd reason his memories kept going back to the outfits worn by Omi, Raimundo, Kimiko, and Clay. Their outfits would be better suited, for his purposes. At least until he had a lab for himself. Holding out his hands in front of him, Jack concentrated.
A robe that appeared to be made out of alternating shades of lighter, and darker blue material appeared in his hands. The robe had the symbol for “Metal” on it, which he assumed was fitting. Sandals also had appeared. Lastly, a face mask had appeared, much like had been worn during the showdowns.
Dressing himself in a rush, Jack quickly put on the outfit. Once he had been clad in the proper attire for his travel, Jack now knew he needed resources. Sadly, it was not going to be that easy. Unlike most of the Primes, he was not going to waste the Omnilium to create everything he desired. No, he was going to husband the resource and save as much of it as he possibly could. Unless a situation was unavoidable, he would not use the substance.
Engineering robots, and tools could be done without the substance, after all. There were many ways he could advance himself without the use of the substance. By studying the other Primes he might also get ideas for what worked in the Omniverse, and what didn’t.
There had to be someone who knew more about the Omniverse in general than he did. As he trekked through the miserable white land that had the Fountain, Jack wished he had a hair dryer that he could use to dry himself. However, he stopped himself from wasting the precious orb in making such an item. While it would benefit him, the benefits were only at best considered “temporary” by Jack. Until he had a more permanent grasp on how this place worked, what people lived here, and what resources the place had, any wastes of his resources that he had at present could not be done.
Jack was now in a new place, where he had nothing. The name Spicer likely didn’t mean squat to anyone around the Omniverse. Tapping into the Spicer Family Fortune was out of the question, as a result of this. This was going to be problematic for Jack, in the long run. As things stood, the formerly evil Boy Genius didn’t know what direction to take himself. Here he had a fresh start, a chance to be more than “Jack Spicer, Evil Boy Genius” but how could he do that? What route should he take in life?
Really, being true to himself, he’d probably try to conquer this place. Yet, it was a bad idea, and he knew it was. There were likely any number of heroes who would rise up to oppose him, or decimate any attempt would make. This discounted those armored troopers and knights that he had saw back in the first part of the Nexus. Conquest was off the table. Businessman, perhaps? The world was probably as cut throat as back home, but he could give it his best effort. Ideally, it would be the perfect way to earn himself the money and resources that he needed. If they used Omnilium for everything though, he didn’t want to run out any time soon.
The Eye of Dashi would have been useful here in the Omniverse. It could power a Jackbot, or an exoskeleton, or a laser rifle so that he could be better equipped. Protecting himself inside this place was not going to be an easy task, given the normal items, and resources he’d use to do so were worlds away, probably. In addition, he was not sure scrounging any sort of resources would be met without hostilities. Of course, he really didn’t know much about the realm known as the Omniverse, so he couldn’t really judge yet.
A map was in order, although he doubted using Omnilium to create it would work. If the substance functioned like he believed it did, one had to know about what they were creating in great detail. And Jack did not know about the Omniverse in great detail. He barely knew his way around the place, much less what each of the Gates were named.
Perhaps if Omnilium worked as advertised, he might recreate the Sword of the Storm, or the Two Ton Tunic, or a similar item to give him a competitive edge here in the Omniverse. With so many “Primes” who had much longer of a time to amass their old powers, and then new ones, he felt at a disadvantage. Obviously he was at one, given his complete and total lack of any tools, and the lack of clothing he had upon arrival. What he would not give for a proper lab right now, because that would make his survival easier to accomplish. Of course, a lab required that he have a power supply, and a power supply required that he had the tools to build one. There was no way he was going to be like the other primes, and squander the Omnilium he had. No, he was going to husband his resources and spend it only when he absolutely needed to do so.
It was after all, the best way to accomplish his goal. Rather than waste time by building a complex death ray, or something, he could perhaps resort to his original way of earning money once he was more established in the place. Jack had been quite the inventor back home, and had made a lot of his cash by selling "breakthrough" discoveries, or high tech weapons to the highest bidders. Really, it was an easy thing for him but for some people it might be hard. Ideally though, he'd have the means to do it soon enough. Approaching a Gate that he felt almost searing heat from, Jack knew that while it was less than ideal, this was the place he was going to start out. The heat likely meant that there was a volcano. Where there was a volcano there were likely ores, and metals he could harvest... oh wait. He didn't have any Jackbots. Still, he went through the breach, into the place. It was time he went to work.
“My name is Omni. This is not the world you know. This is the Omniverse. You interest me, so I have made you part of it. The Omniverse is a place that reflects the wishes of those who are part of it. But! There are rules. I will explain them only once, so listen carefully.”
