The Extinguished Jade Candle
#1
The world of Coruscant was a place that made Jack's eyes widen, when he first came through the gate from the Nexus into the place they called "Tier 1" as it were. For the place was something out of science fiction. Hover cars, armored troopers, blaster rifles and many other things that made the Cybertronians look primitive by comparison. If he had even a fraction of this tech in the fight where he had lost his hands, his survival would have been a lot easier than it had been. Of course, if he had any of the tech here Jack knew he couldn't win, still. For he didn't know how to use the technology of this place. The email Moon Knight had sent back had been somewhat informative. While he would not be joining the Avengers, he could see himself working with them. Putting a Green Lantern Corps together would be a full time project, in and of itself. Obviously, due to that, and his plans for revenge on the Sinestro Corps for removing his hands, he couldn't see himself affiliating with the Avengers, at all.

His hands were something he had treasured before they had been viciously severed. Honestly, he'd be lying, if he said it hadn't shook him up some. His willpower was not on par with that woman's mastery of fear, or swordsmanship skills. Combat skills were something he didn't think he had needed, in the past. Now, though, he had no choice. Survival in this place meant that Jack needed preparation for the coming war he planned against the Sinestro Corps.

A war required weapons. She had said a power ring was one of the most powerful weapons around. So all he had to do was recreate the Oan Power Ring - but no. He was not going to recreate that Power Ring for himself. What he needed was something more stable than the Oan Power Ring had been. A weapon that he could easily learn how to control, so that he could use it properly and take down the Sinestro Corps. Obviously before he could take on the Sinestro Corps, he was going to need to put an organization of his own together. Since she had said that his Green Light of Will was weak, Jack thought of something. What if he wielded more than one light, more than one color? It could be potentially enough to ensure his victory.

When one of the Storm Troopers began scanning him, Jack didn't put up a fight. It was best to not cause offense with any of the natives of the place when he was crippled. After all, he didn't know nearly enough about the Omniverse in order to recreate what he had lost. It hadn't just been his hands that she had taken from him. She had also crippled his spirit, and Jack knew he couldn't wield the Oan Ring, even if he were to recreate it yet. Once he had regained his drive to be a hero, Jack would make something more powerful than the ring for himself.

"How did you lose your hands?" asked the Storm Trooper.

"A fight with a crazed woman who wielded two swords, and stole one of my possessions."  said Jack.

"Oh." said the Storm Trooper. This would need to be reported to his higher ups, so they could ensure Jack didn't bring any sort of trouble to Coruscant because of that. But for now, he'd let Jack alone, and to his own devices. "Welcome to Tier One of Coruscant, home to the Empire."

Jack started walking in a random direction, not really caring where he was going at this point. For he had no plan, and no strategy other than getting his hands back. Should he get his limbs back, he might be able to make the Forge of Solus Prime. Moon Knight had informed him that Omnilium could be used to create specific items. If that were true, and he was able to recreate the Key to Vector Sigma, and the Forge of Solus Prime, he could create more equipment for himself. Alternatively he could buy whatever he needed with Omnilium, as it seemed to be a currency here.

While he could purchase or make whatever he needed with the substance Omnilium, Omnilium could not grant a person any actual information about the place he was currently at. Since Omnilium could not do the one thing Jack needed at present, this left but one tactic that he could use. Investigation of his own. There was a lot he had to learn about the place, if he was to survive here. For starters he was going to learn about the membership of the Sinestro Corps, so that he would know who to look out for. In addition he was also going to learn strategy, and tactics before he even thought about training with a ring. In the mean time he was going to need a new tool, or several, as the power ring he wielded was not an option anymore. Given his lack of it, Jack could no longer use a wide range of moves that the ring had afforded him access to. It was a simple fix, if he were willing to recreate the ring. At present, however, doing so was not a wise choice to say the least.

There were many items that he could choose to make to replace the power ring that he had once possessed, before it, and his hands had been separated from his body. The Apex Armor could be a useful asset, if he remembered how to make it. Given the armor's capability to withstand a lot of damage, and the physical strength, and speed boosts it granted, the armor could likely allow him to put that woman in jail. However, he did not have the knowhow to build something along the lines of the Apex Armor. In addition he didn't have the materials needed to do so either. Thus, the Apex Armor was out of the question as an option.

The Polarity Gauntlet was a gauntlet that could manipulate magnetism, and allow him to fling things around magnetically. It was a Decepticon weapon, but it would be useful if Jack knew how to use Omnilium to recreate it. While Moon Knight had said that specific enough items could be made with the substance, Jack didn't know how to do so yet. Something that frustrated Jack. Really, Omni should have given more than a basic introduction. Something that Jack held against the one he received the power ring from, namely his lack of education in how to make the damn thing work. It was one of the reasons, in addition to not knowing the terrain, and being under trained that he had lost the fight. There were many reasons. Yet the loss had broken him, and Jack knew he would take a while before he could be worthy of a Power Ring once more.

Even without the power ring that he possessed, Jack Darby was not entirely helpless. Oh wait, he was. Without his hands, he could not shoot the Bow of Primus Replica which meant that if that psychotic woman came again, he was likely done for. Given the aggressive recruitment policies of the Sinestro Corps, Jack wanted no part of them. However, they were the only ones he knew of who possessed information on the Emotional Spectrum that he did not have access to, or knowledge of. In addition he still did not know enough about the terrain of the Omniverse to make a stand should he need to do so, for whatever reason. Logically, as the odds were not in his favor, Jack should give up. Or at least, that's what a normal human would think. Jack was not normal though. Early on he had encounters with Extraterrestials, some of which had put his life in danger. Knock Out throwing him off of a mountain had been what had earned him the Green Lantern Ring. For a time, he'd had to let the people he loved think he was dead until he had learned the basics of how to use the Power Ring. Sadly enough he didn't have the ring he wanted, or needed to be honest. If he had that ring, he could probably have beaten that psychotic woman with the twin blades. At present, he didn't have the ring. So he was going to have to adapt to the situation. Learning to live without the Oan Ring was not going to be easy, because it was a survival kit all rolled into one. There had to be a way he could recreate the hands he had lost. Sure losing them had hit him hard, but he had to move past it. Maybe if he found someone good at cloning, he could take the hand that he had in his pocket, and have it replicated to give him a replacement limb. It was worth a shot anyway.

In any case, Jack began to make his way deeper into the area that was called "Tier One" because he needed to explore the place. Learning more about the Omniverse was not as easy as willing a manual on the place into existence. Jack had tried this several times upon his arrival here, but it had come up completely blank. Therefore, he planned on making a survival guide to the Omniverse as soon as he learned enough about the place to guarantee it wouldn't be a waste of his time to make, or anyone's time to spend reading it. The existence of the Sinestro Corps was going to be added to the survival guide as a danger because of how they had treated him, decided Jack. The loss of his limbs had been humiliating enough, but he'd been robbed atop that. It had pretty much shattered any hope he had of wielding his ring any time soon.

Eventually he came across the Elevator that led to the lower tiers.
