Fighting the false emperor
#1
13 was annoyed, not only had Asriel almost killed him but it had taken significantly longer than he would've like to heal and even then he still couldn't move his leg properly. That goat would pay, in the meantime 13 decided to go to the opposite of where Asriel would be right now; Coruscant. 13 knew that the stormtoopers would recognize him soon enough so he found an area with a map and a small paragraph about the area and left. Keeping to the shadows, 13 heard certain things that annoyed him; he heard some astartes calling this 'Palpitine' the god emperor but he wasn't on terra and it was fairly common knowledge to an imperial citizen that only the adeptus custodes may be allowed in the emperor's palace. He decided that he was going to have to get to know the low life of this place to find the group that had decided to rebel against this false Imperium. Not that he knew too much about them, just that he could readily assume that there was more than just common criminals populating the lower tiers. Darting into an alley, he made sure that his revolver and rifle were loaded just in case another fight broke out. If that happened then 13 was sure he would die, albeit making a last stand worthy of the true imperial fists.
As 13 started going down the elevator he saw the tiers and how they changed as he went down. Tier 1 was extravagant but after a few minutes of looking he saw all of the stormtoopers with their guns scanning the population, as if getting ready to kill even the pettiest criminal and the cameras sweeping the whole area making sure that even a private conversation wouldn’t stay that way for long. Tier 2 was mostly the same but it seemed like the people were more relaxed, on further inspection he noticed that there were significantly less cameras but still enough to pretty much get rid of any potential crime he could still see some Stormtroopers but their stance signified that they were not planning on shooting up and entire building just to get a petty thief. Tier 3 was a lot more to his liking; there were soldiers but not enough to make him nervous, cameras but not enough to make him feel like his entire life was being watched and the people seemed like they wouldn’t steal from you but wouldn’t report you to the authorities on a whim. Tier 4 was where 13 started getting a bit nervous, it seemed like the authorities weren’t as strict here and as he was heading down 13 could’ve sworn he saw a Stormtrooper being bribed by someone. On the positive side however, it seemed like it would be pretty easy to get some new augmentations and decided to get off of the elevator to do just that. He met a secondary named Kubrik who augmented his liver and bone marrow which would allow him to take chems without suffering from addiction or withdrawl. He then started moving back towards the elevator when he noticed a piece of graffiti that was obviously anti empire, but if he looked close enough he could see evidence of more expensive paint and possibly frames that weren’t just cardboard. It was faint but there was an air of professionalism about it and if this level was anything to go by, 13 didn’t think that a common teenager did it. Reaching tier 3, 13 decided that it would be as far as he went for the time being and started attempting to locate the rebels, if they would be official or at the very least not common street thugs would be up to the Omnissiah to decide.

13 twisted on the suppressor onto his pistol just as the elevator opened. He walked out, scanning the area. He heard the sounds of feet slowly walking close to him and when he turned around he saw 4, what he assumed, were the local criminals.
“Look what we have got here, a fresh prime who doesn’t know the laws of the street yet, let’s say we teach you how things go around here.”
“I am not here to fight you common street criminals, I am here to learn about a plot to defeat the emperor.”
“Maybe we do know about it, maybe we do not. But, do you want your information or do you want your kneecaps?” They all got out their guns and started aiming at 13’s head. “Of course it might jog our memories if you give us some of your omnillium or your funny lookin’ gun.”
“This conversation bores me, you have one last chance to surrender before you die, if you would enjoy living give me the answers I need.”
“That’s it, smoke him.” The lead criminal said as his finger neared the trigger to his gun. In a blur, 13’s gun shot out a bullet for each member of the gang, knocking the weapons out of their hands. 13 reloaded while the criminals were still attempting to figure out what was happening. He shot, each of them in the leg. They each fell over gasping in pain as their leg was burned from the inside out. 13 started picking them up by the head one by one. “Do you know where I can find the rebels?”
“No, but please spare me! I can get you into the crime business, give you allies, money, power, ANYTHING. Just please spare me” 13 though for a second, having the ability to have some sway in the crime industry would be very beneficial. He doubted they would instantly accept him though and he would have to work his way up the ‘ladder’ before reaching a position of power. 13 gave the criminal a small bottle of the powder used on his revolver bullets. “Keep this, I will come back for it later. Check back at this elevator daily at 12, if I am here give it to me and I’ll give you another set of instruction, if you disobey these orders I will hunt you down and kill you, understand?”
“Yeah, Yeah…. I will see you there then I guess.” He promptly blacked out because of the pain, the others didn’t know that though. 13 moved to the second criminal.
“What do you know?”
“Nothin’ other then they exist, if they know you’re looking for them they’ll find you. You’ve just gotta find them first.” 13, pleased with his answer hauled him up with both hands by the back of his collar and pushed him away. The criminal limped away, obviously severely hurt by the pistol round still in his leg. 13 then heard a click behind him, one of the criminals, not the leader, had picked up his pistol and was now aiming it at him. “Do not move or I will blow your brains out!” he screamed, obviously looking nervous. 13 slowly turned around with his hands raised above his head. Thinking out a plan, 13 watched it play out in his head, thinking about every way it could change or somehow go wrong. It would be risky, but he found a plan. “Give me all of your Omnillium and whatever special items are in those fancy robes of yours.” The criminal said again, waving the gun around wildly. As 13 was slowly lowering his hands again he started his plan. Slamming his hands down on the criminal’s wrists, he brought them down onto his knee which he then kicked up into the sky. Flashy but effective, 13 estimated he would have around 5 seconds before the gun would come back down again. With the criminal’s eyes following the gun as it went up, 13 punched him in the gut and then did the same manoeuvre as he had pulled with Asriel, darting behind the criminal, 13 pushed on his lower back and pulled on his neck. The criminal fell along with the gun. 13 was about to shoot the criminal square in the head when he remembered that if he did kill him it would be a lot harder to gain back Asriel’s trust. 13 didn’t want to fight that goat again. 13 shot the criminal in the shoulder and turned to the leader.
“And you?”
“They, they’re in that building over there.” The criminal pointed at a run-down building with no windows. “But I doubt they will let you in if you’re with palpatine.”
“Good thing I’m not then.” 13 shot the leader in his shoulder, he took off the silencer and walked towards the building, hoping that they had heard the conversation.

13 put away his gun and started walking towards the building with his hands above his head, he walked to the door and knocked on it, he waited. The door opened to a room filled with guns, some of which he knew some of which he didn’t. Knowing that he didn’t want to get hit by a bolter, 13 unslung his rifle from his back and put it on the ground, the same with his pistol. 13 slowly walked forwards, not wanting for it to be seen as an act of aggression. The man who appeared to be the leader stepped forwards cautiously. “Who are you and what is your business here?”
“My name is 13-Jzall and I am a prime. I am here because the Omnissiah also known as the emp-“ Suddenly all the guns in the room were aimed at his head. 13 continued, unfazed. “The true emperor of mankind has made it his will that I come here and I intend to defend his honour by making the false emperor’s life as terrible as I can make it.”
“And why should we trust you?”
“Because if you think about what just happened outside I could kill all of you with an uncaring eye and walk right up to the emperor just to tell him that I had.” My gun skills also include being deadly for up to 1800 metres and I know basically everything about the space marines; their armour, their weapons and how to kill them best.” The leader chewed his lip thoughtfully, a possible spy to plant inside the empire would be useful and his combat skill was definitely better than what he normally was shown by his own recruits. But the way that he seemed to be connected to the imperium and emperor seemed to be a bit too suspicious.
“All right, we have a mission for you to prove your worth. Go down into tier 7, there is a factory that is holding some important weapons, we’ll give you the schematics but I doubt you could improve on them. They’re for something called..... Cawl pattern bolt rifles, very new and very deadly weapons for space marines. We need you to get these and if possible recover a jar or liquid inside of a very heavy security vault. Destroy anything else you find and make sure that there are no survivors. Message us on this when you’re done and we’ll send a clean-up crew to make sure they never knew we were there.” The leader handed 13 a walkie-talkie. “Before that though you’ll need to tell us everything we need to know about how to defeat the space marines in combat.” And so 13 started explaining the various chinks in the ceramite armour, how they could switch sides but never races which could possibly help greatly in a rebellion and, to the few who had them, how to operate their weaponry without blowing themselves and everyone else up. Just before 13 left he had a request. “I need a team to be able to pull this off successfully.” The leader started thinking again, “I’m only in charge of this outpost, you will need to prove yourself to my boss to be able to ask for things like that. But seeing as this is a matter of great importance some strings can possibly be pulled. Stay here, I’ve got to make some phone calls.” 13 started waiting, the few people who were left in the room looking at him suspiciously. 13 started reloading his pistol from the previous ordeal, almost silently speaking canticles while he did. This unnerved enough people that at least one person would have run if the leader hadn’t returned at that moment. “Perkins! You’re the one who seems to be connected with the space marines the most apart from 13, so you’re with him.” 13 saw Perkins, he was what the Astra Millitarium would probably use in their propaganda photos. Clean face, straight jawline, regiment approved haircut and the look that he had seen enough battles to last a lifetime. But on closer inspection he had a look of fear in his eyes as he realised what was happening, the way that his hand twitched to his gun and his legs started tensing, it looked as if Perkins was about to run straight out of the room. The leader noticed this, took out a gun and aimed it at his head, which was as much persuasion as Perkins needed. “Let’s head off then.” 13 said as he hoisted his rifle back up onto his shoulder. “Y-yes, let’s.” Perkins stammered as he looked back with a solemn look on his face. They walked to the elevator and started the slow trip to their very possible deaths.

“So then, a member of the Astra Millitarium?”
“Yes, Cadian 8th, Castellen's own, Abbadon was attacking and I was on the front lines of defense, I didn’t even get looked at. They just swept through us without taking enough care to find an opponent. The last thing I saw was golden light falling from the sky and then I suddenly appear here. Unlike you, it seems that I instantly knew most things about the Omniverse. So tell me, how did you die?” 13 had enabled his emotions to make Perkins feel less nervous and it turned out that was actually from 13’s future. “I was sent to kill the beast, if you haven’t heard about them they were a group of 6 orks who threatened even Holy Terra.” Perkins scoffed at the mere thought, “I was sent to assassinate him and here I am. If it makes you feel better, the last thing I saw was a metric fuck ton of screaming green mushroom people.” Perkins chuckled a bit, they seemed to be friends at the least. They stepped out of the elevator and towards a guns and ammo shop. “Not sure if they’ll stock your kind of bullets but lasguns are fairly common around here so may as well get them.” 13 walked up to the shopkeep who kept on looking up from a piece of paper along with a vial and talking to any human wearing a red robe. Before the alarms in 13’s mind could go off and he could run, the shopkeep turned to him and asked a question; “Your name 13-Jzall?”
“Yes, yes it is.” 13 stammered, “could I ask how you know that?”
“A metal lookin fella came round here this mornin and told me to give this to you.” He held out the vial which was filled with necrodermis. 13 gingerly picked it up and read the note:
Hi 13, you probably don’t know me but trust me, I basically saved the galaxy at the expense of a planet. Uncork the vial and you might realize what’s going on. It also works as an amazing ammo enhancement.
Cheers, Trazyn

13 almost immediately regretted reading the message. It seemed that one of the more common necron overlords had found his way into here and had somehow recognized him as a valuable prime and had wanted to help him for some reason. The only way that could’ve happened would be that he had found an archmagos with 10 000 years of…… Oh, him. 13 didn’t care if he had become the fucking FABRICATOR GENERAL, he was DEAD TO HIM. 13 went to the firing range to clear his head. He saw Perkins melting through targets when 13 took out his revolver, thought for a moment, and poured some of it into his gun and fired. The resulting bullet took out most of the targets, the wall and still managed to pierce through 3 more walls. Needless to say someone has a botched tattoo and someone else’s 15 minutes probably didn’t end the way they expected. Perkins watched and immediately called 13 over. “Maybe it’s time we go do our ‘cleaning up’ job, eh?” They dashed off to the elevator and quickly pressed down before anyone could see them. “Indeed.” And so they quickly headed out and to the elevators. 13 asked an important question. “What chapter of Astates are we facing?” Perkins thought for a moment and then answered “I don’t know, but they’re a kind of yellowish…. red, maybe?”
“So imperial fists, well fuck. Completely unrelated question; how many turrets are there.” Perkins started looking off into the distance and spoke in a soft tone. “It was as if they had turned the hallways into an army, the empty rooms into traps and their escape routes into ambushes.”
“Don’t worry, if I get my way it’ll be quick, in and out. No need for anything like that. If we do get spotted the machine spirits will recognize me and hopefully bow down. Hopefully.” Perkins let out a weak smile and leaned against the elevator. “If we get out of this, I’d rather we stay friends 13.”
“Me too.” The elevator opened to a small group of guardsmen corpses and a space marine with what appeared to be either an arrest warrant or a death warrant.

13 hung up the phone, he knew what he had to do. He walked back to the rebel HQ and explained: “I have an urgent job in Camelot, I’ve found someone who may want to help us take down Palpatine but I’ll need to leave this operation for a few days.”
“Understood, just come back as soon as possible without being detected.” 13 walked out of the building and smiled, it had been so long since that recipe had been used.

Quote:not adding this into the word count, 13 is doing something in Camelot that won't take too long but is still quite urgent.

13 returned the next day, "False alarm, turns out I need to wait a bit until the target will be in the optimal place. Looks like I'm still here for a bit."
"Good, get perkins and get back to the factory."
"Okay."

Perkins was at a pub on tier 4, he had not taken 13 leaving suddenly as well as most people and spent his time drowning the sorrows of rejection. 13 found Perkins with a half-finished beer, Perkins looked up and despite his face being covered in filth, 13 could see that he was happy to finally see 13 again. After Perkins cleaned up and got back his equipment, 13 and Perkins left the building just in time to see a blue daemon and an… ultramarine? Run into an area and then immediately disappear. Which would have made sense previously but he had found out from the resistance leader that there are no actual chapters and the paint on the marine’s armour was just to determine their role and rank. But honestly, 13 didn’t think much of it since nothing here made sense anyway.

They made their way to an elevator with the cameras disabled just like they were ordered to. 13 felt that small swell of pride again before switching off his emotions as they entered the factory. 13 recognised most of the things here, ancient machine constantly churning out new weapons, armour and occasionally new servitors. Mindless servitors wandered around the factory, checking that the assorted machines were working at maximum efficiency and moving around the sprawling corridors to guard against intruders. 13 told Perkins that he needed to play along with what he said; “Okay, just don’t make it too weird or anything.” 13 took off his robe and put it into one of the machines, making sure that there was no evidence of him being more than a basic servitor. 13 walked up with Perkins and began to talk to the servitor in the Cant Mechanicus Lingua-technis; “Greetings, I am designation 13-GOMNID, I am taking this traitor conscript to be converted into a servitor, direct us to the closest information uploader.”
“Right, left, skip a left then left.”
“Omnissiah be with you.”
13 walked away with Perkins into the centre of the factory where there was a glowing bright blue terminal, surrounded by countless servers and cords snaking in and out of the walls. 13 spent a few minutes summoning his robes back and a data transfer cord out of omillium, he dressed up in his robe and plugged in the cord. 13 then put the other end of the cord into the socket in his temple and started the data upload. Immediately the liquid bliss of information swirled into his robotic brain and he began to do the prime directive of the Omnissiah, gain data in his name.

13 understood why the leader needed the Cawl pattern bolt rifles so much now, it and the normal mars pattern bolter had similarities but inside the weapon it was a different story. The cawl pattern bolt rifle had more powerful bullets and the chamber of the cawl pattern bolt rifle was extended so that it had 21 more feet of range than a normal bolter. 13 glanced at Perkins who was guarding the door with his gun, detached the cord and stuck in an USB. After a few minutes, 13 took it out and gave it to Perkins. “This has all the data on the cawl pattern bolt rifles, they’re a lot worse than our normal bolters so you’ll need every advantage you can get.”
“Thanks but I think that I will still be sticking around with you.”
“Since we’re here and we still need to get that gene seed-“
“What?”
“The thing that the empire uses to make new space marines out of normal citizens.”
“Oh.”
“Anyway, since we’re still going to need to be here for a while do you want to get a better weapon than your lasgun?”
“No, I’m happy with it and frankly I don’t really trust myself with anything better.” 13 still picked out a plasma pistol and gave it to him and Perkins accepted it. 13 then moved over to the vault which he expected to be much more of a problem.

13 and Perkins walked through the building when they came across a room that was being heavily guarded by a group of 10 servitors, each one holding some kind of plasma weapon. "I can probably handle this." 13 said as he hid his robe in the computer room again, attached the silencer to his gun and shot out most of the cameras from the various locations that he could see. One of the servitors came over to where they were and 13 killed it as quickly and silently as possible. 13 ignored the lingering thought in his head that he was betraying his faith, after all it was just a normal servitor. Perkins looked at the servitor, at a distance a stranger looking at one would have seen a normal human wearing chunky clothing, a weird hat and a thing on one or two of their arms. If they got closer they would see that it is more machine than man, the chunky clothing is actually a collection of metal parts and pipes across their body, the hat is actually half a head of metal with more pipes coming off of it and the weird things on their arms? Weapons made to kill. Plasma guns, servo arms, bolt pistols and multi meltas. If it can be made quickly they probably have one.

Perkins was snapped out of his study by the sudden noise of alarms and gunfire. 13 was locked in a deadly firefight between himself and the servitors. He had already killed 3 more so there were only 6 left but they were firing plasma as fast and as overcharged as they could. 1 more went down after their plasma weapon blew up and melted away most of his flesh from their face. Perkins blew away the arms of another leaving only 5. 13 suddenly ran in and shot 4 of them point blank in the face, dodging and weaving all but one shot to his leg which slightly melted the metal but didn’t hinder him in any way. 13 shouted at Perkins to “Try and knock him out with an explosion.” Perkins aimed to the wall near the servitor’s head, aimed and fired. The shot barely missed but it still knocked the servitor to the floor. 13 dashed over and opened up the servitor’s head. He saw the criss cross of wires that went in and out of the servitor’s brain. 13’s cybernetic brain went into overdrive as he retrieved the information on how to shut down the alarms, hopefully stop any reinforcements from arriving and maybe get their faces out of the system.

Perkins heard the beeping stop at the exact same time as he heard a fridge’s motor start. He turned around to see 13 starting to pick up the servitor by the servo arm and push him in, quickly closing the door and blocking it with the dead servitors’ bodies.
“Why did you do that?”
“Because the safe still isn’t open and if this guy is the key we don’t want his brain to rot, get out and check if there are any Stormtroopers coming, don’t attack just get me. We have 30 minutes to do this if we’re using the servitor.”
“Ok.”
13 started summoning a scryrskull to analyse the safe better as Perkins went outside to guard against the possible Stormtrooper alpha strike.

13 had finished summoning the modified lasgun, on the surface the only difference was that the battery pack was connected to the firing barrel. Inside of the gun though it was a bit different. Most of the safety mechanisms in the battery pack that stops the gun from overheating and exploding had been removed and in its place was a special piece of equipment. Essentially, the lasgun closer to a plasma pistol in terms of damage but still quite weak when compared to some of the things 13 had access to back in the day. It put the lasgun on an eternal ‘overcharge’. It meant that the shots would get a bit more powerful but there was a tiny chance that the battery back, which had been moved to the front, would blow up. The other upside was that the extra heat from the overcharged shots and the extra space 13 got by removing the safety mechanism was that there were more shots and the lasgun was constantly regenerating them. It sounded stupid but 13 decided to name it the ‘plasgun’ until he could think of a better name.

13 had been studying through the data in the servitors head for the last 15 minutes and he could already begin to see the effects of the rot in the brain taking place. The data was getting a bit faint in terms of what he could pull out but luckily the stuff that was in the cybernetic part of the brain, which contained STCs of the factory including the safe, didn’t rot and so it was safe. 13 summoned a scryr skull which he connected to the servitor’s head. In a few minutes all the data would probably be in it but 13 already had what he needed to begin the process of opening the safe. 13 had another look at the safe an identified the door that would open to get him the gene-seed. 13 summoned a jackhammer with a ceramite tip and began drilling away at the rockcrete that held the safe in its place. Just as 13 was about to finish clearing out the base Perkins rushed in with numerous burn marks on his armour. “We have a situation going on out there.”
“Marines or stormtroopers?”
“Just Stormtroopers thank the emperor.”
“Take this and meet me by the door.” 13 threw Perkins the plasgun, which he just managed to catch, and walked towards the door. 13 took off the silencer on his pistol and headed over to the door, ignoring the corpses on the floor he walked over to the double doors that let him in in the first place and swung them open. The group of 3 stormtroopers raised their guns and one of them barked out an order. “Stand down or we will be forced to fire!”
“Well that’s no fun isn’t it?” 13 said as he fired squeezed the trigger of his pistol 3 times, two of the bullets escaping between the neck plates and one of them hit the plate and shattered it, but only causing a minor wound. The bullets set the inside of the armour and fire, nearly baking the stormtrooper alive. The next round of bullets managed to hit the other Stormtrooper in the neck, killing him almost instantly. The leader of the group shot 5 shots at 13 which all hit, the shots hit his robes, 3 of them hit different areas which only burned his robes a bit. 2 of them managed to hit in the same place, the second going through his robes but hitting his metal legs, doing almost nothing apart from giving 13 an awkward walk for maybe or a day or two. The stormtrooper looked down. 13 looked down. Perkins looked down. They all looked up. “Well, fu- “The Stormtrooper said as Perkins shot the Stormtrooper in the face, burnt pieces of skin overpowering the smell of melted plastoid.

13 and Perkins walked back to the safe, 13 took the gun from Perkins, aimed at the hinge on the safe and fired. The Plasma melted the hinge and opened the safe. 13 picked it up, it was definitely a new type of gene-seed. “Let’s get this back to the base.” 13 said as he reloaded his pistol and put it in his pocket. They walked out the double doors, the smell of burning skin merely a faint memory compared to the toxic wastes that had already came back. 13 remembered a job he had to do first. It wasn’t big but the outcome might be.

13 summoned a set of test tubes and began analysing the different types of septic waste in the puddles around the factory, so far he had found mostly positive results. Annoyingly, the poison would not be strong enough to kill primes but probably strong enough to kill ‘normal’ secondaries. If he modified his rebreather enough it should work but it would lessen his stealth capabilities. 13 put some assorted vials containing the valuable liquids into his pocket in front of the gene-seed vial. 13 shouted to Perkins, who was sitting on the roof of the building after he had found a ladder up there, that he was ready to leave when he was. Perkins finished his sandwich and walked out of the factory entrance, plasgun clasped tightly. “I see you’re liking your new toy?”
“Yeah, it’s… it’s pretty good.”
“That’s good to hear, let’s head out.”

13 and Perkins went into the elevator and 13 hit the button for tier 5. When they entered they saw a scout wearing Stormtrooper armour sitting on a park bench, when they saw 13 and Perkins they walked into the rebel base after a letting out a series of knocks on the door. 13 and Perkins walked over to the base and entered to find a janitor cleaning blood stains off of the floor as the leader walked over to the pair, his left arm missing. “Well hello there, I assume it was a success?”
“Yes, but you’re not getting the gene-seed.” 13 said in his usual robotic monotone.
“And why would that be?”
“You tell me. Either way, I’m giving you the weapons so take what you’re given.”
The leader was understandably annoyed but he let it slide. “Can you do anything about my arm?”
“Yes, just give me an hour or so and it’ll be ready.”
13 set to work, summoning the raw materials and tinkering with the joints until it met his standards. Then, he worked on it more until it was fit for a space marine scout. “Here you go.” 13 said as he handed the commander his new, metal arm. “Thanks, I know this is a bit too late but we can’t allow you into the group.”
“Why?”
“I do not know but just do a couple more jobs and it should be good, I understand if you want to take a break, just give us your number in case.”
“Ok.” So 13 gave the commander his number and sat down, looking through the dataverse and wondering what he should do next.

13 pulled himself away from the dataverse as he heard the leader walk into the room, moving around his new arm, 13 had been watching a movie about a young princess named Guu, the leader of a kingdom named Ambrosia. 13 was tempted to go there but that could wait until later, he had plans for himself that would probably come first. “All right, we’ve got a mission for you that’s pretty risky but you should be able to pull it off. Just head up to tier one and tier two and try to rent some books, that’s the easy part. Then, you’ve got to bring them back here and make almost exact copies, just change it a little to make it a bit off or a less effective at what it does. You might not be able to make new copies so you can decide if you just want to copy them or make edits when you get around to it.”

“Ok, I’ll begin soon.”

“Good luck and Omnispeed.”

13 called out to Perkins, who was finishing his food from earlier, “Do you want to come with me?”
“Sure, it is not like I am doing anything else at the moment.”
“Ok, let’s leave in, say, 10 minutes?”
“Sounds good.”
13 and Perkins walked over to the elevator and pressed the button, after a short wait they exited to the near perfect metropolis of tier 2, ready to do what had to be done.

13 had told that he would meet him at the library later, he was going to explore tier 2 some more first. 13 wandered around, looking at houses being sold and bought. Shops filled with citizens trying to get through their day without bumping into each other. The citizens were just living their lives, it almost made 13 feel guilty about the war that was no doubt eventually happen on these grounds, almost. 13 walked over to a shop and looked what seemed to be a comms unit. He walked up to the shopkeeper, “Ello, ello ello! What do we have here? A new prime looking for a communicator? Could be because…. You lied that you had a number? How do I know? I ‘dunno. But you better get a communicator sooner rather than later or it could backfire really bad.” 13 stood in silence, confused.
“OK, I’ll bite. How much for one of these or the blueprint?”

“Just 200 OM for you sunshine.”

“I will take it.” The shopkeeper handed him the blueprint and then leaned towards where 13’s ear should be, he whispered slowly; “I have got a special deal for someone like you, someone who can not hide their thoughts and might want to get some help escaping from the authorities. A special glass vial, along with the blueprint. Fill it up with anything and you’ll be good to go.”
“Hand it over and you will get your payment.”
“Pleasure doing business with you.” The shopkeeper handed 13 the glass bottle and a blueprint, 13 focused and a small rainbow orb with all the colours known to mankind shimmering inside of it came out. He watched it slowly move and be absorbed into the shopkeeper, it was interesting, to say the least. “And one last tip, you may be seeing heresy in just Palpatine but believe me, look a bit further and you might find it. Look around, do you see the technology these people have? Think about that. Anyway, see you later, probably.” 13 thought about that for a second, he hadn’t even taken in his surroundings he was so focused on his job. Normally this would be a good thing but at the moment definitely not. 13 walked away and turned his head quickly, all around him he could see flying cars. The buildings were filled with civilians, not working to help turn the crucibles of war. Suppressed rage built up within 13, fighting to get out. If he had been a skitarii alpha, which he was nearing to, or a tech priest it may have been too much and he would have started shooting everyone here but for now, he didn’t. The hereteks and heretics of this land would pay in due time but that wasn’t what he was here for.

13 sat down at a restaurant selling some type of meat between a wheat substance, it’d have to for now at least. 13 took off his mask and started tinkering with the communicator while eating the food at the same time. 13 finished both at the same time and he heard a ringing inside of his mind, he ‘picked it up’ and a low, static voice spoke to him. “Look at what is in front of you, do you even know what’s inside that? You’re no like them, you’re better and you know it, you need something more. You need to keep it real, now run.” 13 stood up and began moving as fast as he could without making it seem suspicious. He walked onto the road as he saw a group of cars hurtling towards him at top speed, he ran as far forward as he could but only just managed to turn away before the cars went past where he was before. He tripped and fell on the ground, look up he observed people sitting on seats on a conveyer belt, being trimmed by a floating robotic orb with scissors and combs. “So close, but you’ve got a long way to go.” Running back onto the street he crossed the road just before another car hit him, 13 looked around, he was in some kind of market. He got caught on something which tied up his arms with his head, struggling, he fell off a ledge onto a pile of hay. 13 got up and walked up the nearest set of stairs when he saw a drugged up man walking towards him, his smile as wide as his eyes. 13 saw a truck coming towards the highway near an open door, he ran outside and jumped onto the truck but almost immediately he tumbled off. 13 shakily stood up, seeing the library for the first time. The voice let out a deep laugh, “Congratulations, you’ve made it.” 13 walked into the library, ready to face anything after what just happened.

13 realised it as soon as he entered the library, he had forgotten his rebreather. And Perkins. Well, shit. 13 called Perkins, he was, understandably, annoyed. “You left me at the elevator when you left to the shops”

“It was an accident.”

“You ran off without me while the creepy guy stared at me.”

“I forgot you were there.”

“How did you do that? And then I saw you jump off a ledge into who knows where.”

“It probably won’t happen again, I am going to get the books and then meet you back at the elevator.”

“Ok, see you there.”
13 hailed a taxi to get back to the café where he picked up his rebreather after a short argument with the owner which was solved when 13 summoned a new generator for them.

13 got a new taxi, this one was similar to a pod racer. It was large enough to get a spot in the lanes made for larger vehicles and almost every bit of the space it took up was dedicated to making 13’s life as good as possible. 13 got off at the library and gave the driver 5 omillinium for his troubles, he wasn’t sure if it was acceptable to give more or less but it didn’t matter much. The driver thanked him and drove off. 13 checked the dataverse, apparently the princess Guu had begun the construction of a railroad. 13 thought that he might as well visit them and lend a helping hand after he collected all the books he needed.

13 entered the library, again, he walked over to a reception desk and asked where the weapon and engineering books were. “Just over there on row 9 column A for the weapons and row 4 column C for engineering, we don’t have renting times because of how time works around here but after you’ve done 2 things that we’ve deemed ‘pretty interesting or time-consuming’ we’ll be searching for you. I hope you have a lovely day.” 13 walked over to the sections of the library and started looking at books and flipping through pages, he found 4 books from the weapons section and 6 from engineering. After checking the out 13 called another taxi, a short trip later he was near the elevator where he and Perkins had exited. He called out to Perkins who was showing some small children dressed up as characters his gun, Perkins said something to the children and they ran off while he walked over to 13. “Did you get some books?”
“Yes, I am going to give them to you and head off somewhere else for a while, just make sure that they don’t get damaged or preferably looked at before I return.”
“I am going to tell them about what happened earlier, you know that right?”
“Yes.”
“It’s going to be an entire party dedicated to shaming you, it’ll be fun! Trust me.”
“I will make a note of it, see you later.”
“Bye.”

13 walked to an elevator next to the one Perkins was entering, he selected tier one and was almost immediately walking out of the elevator. He took the quickest route to the nexus gate and told the Stormtroopers his (fake) name and business. 13 then left for Ambrosia and what awaited him there.

Perkins checked his phone as a put the books onto the elevator floor, shit, it looked like 13 had gotten a bounty from the Coruscant authorities but luckily he had not been listed as an accomplice. He was still travelling down the elevator to tier 5. He called 13, “Hey 13, you have gone and gotten yourself a bounty, also how long until I should return the books?”
“Second thing first, I’d probably say a bit over 1 month for you but probably whenever. As for the second thing, I wonder how that happened.”
“Hardy ha ha, how are you going to get back here if the stormtroopers and space marines know you by face and name?”
“I have a blueprint that could help you with that and the issue with the books.”
“What issue? I do NOT think for a second that Steven is going to not read the books just because you said so.”
“Is that his name?”
“Is what who’s name.”
“Is ‘Steve’ the leader of your group because it sounds like a name that a very unimaginative person would make up.”
“Yes it is, just answer the question.”
“I’ll call him after we finish this conversation.”
“Sounds good, wait a second, what are the blueprints?”
“One is a servo skull with an arm on to turn the pages and the other is a homing beacon for me to lock onto when I figure out how to teleport.”
“Huh, cool. How are we meant to make these?”
“I’ll tell Steve when I send them.”
13 hung up almost immediately, the elevator was hurtling towards the end of tier 4 but it gave Perkins enough time to reflect about what had happened. He had been sent by his commander to help 13 who was at the time a mysterious new prime who had just taken down some gang members. Now that he thought about that, it seemed a bit weird for the commander to be that trusting of 13. They then went to tier 4 if he remembered correctly where 13 had managed to destroy multiple walls by accident after being given something that he had not seen. They then went down to tier 7 but were stopped by a space marine who had just been sent to tell them to clean up, it was weird but Perkins could probably let it pass. After they had cleaned up after 13, 13 had to go somewhere. He almost immediately returned but the time in between those two events was a blur because he had started drinking, then-. The elevator opened with a ping, alerting Perkins to his surroundings. He walked over to the building after picking up the books, it looked like they had installed a window on the top floor which was nice. Perkins walked in, books in hand to see Steve talking to 13.

“Yes I know that you have more experience but that doesn’t mean that we can’t have a say in this either. Look mister, I don’t care if we ‘careless mortals’ or whatever you said can’t be trusted to hold a fething book, it doesn’t matter. Just send the blueprints and get my arm to make them somehow, OK? Good, we agree then, I’ll make the thing and you can teleport down here when this whole thing blows over. Bye.”

“What was that about?”
“Your partner in crime has quite the attitude it seems, but that doesn’t matter now. Let’s get down to business. You and some of the others can study the books and I’ll just wait until- nope it’s started already. Steve’s hand started pointing in a direction and ‘tugging’ at his shoulder as if it need to get something from over there. “I’ll leave you to it then. Dekkog! Leeroy! Get in here and help Perkins with this. Two men walked over to where Perkins was sat down near him, waiting for some books. Perkins watched as Steve got dragged away and then attempted to clear his head. There was a mission now, and it was handing out books and then reading some others, yay.

Perkins was tired and jittery, with Dekkog and Leeroy he had managed to get through all the books but only after 5 coffees and multiple raids of the fridge. They were all now working together to build the servo skull for 13. Leeroy and Perkins worked on the machine itself while Dekkog, who was a bit slow but as loyal as you get, was passing them some parts and drawing in his book. After many failed attempts, 3 more coffees and Dekkog almost destroying the whole thing more than once, they were done. The servo skull beeped, attempted to flip all of them except for Dekkog off and began to flip through the books with its hands. While this was happening Steve walked out with a glowing stick in his hand. “What’s that?” Said Perkins as he walked up. “The homing beacon, apparently I just need to stick it somewhere and 13 will do the rest.” Steve put the beacon on the seat, ready for when he returned.

Perkins heard Leeroy calling for him, he rushed in and asked Dekkog;

“What’s going on?”

Dekkog thought for a second, scrunched up his eyebrows and pointed at the doors;

“Stormtroopers.”

One of the stormtroopers walked forwards and held out their hand while talking in a voice between a naturally happy sounding one and a monotone:

“I am 73J5C42AN, pleased to meet you. We have been sent by the Coruscant police force to investigate most of the buildings in tier 5, my partner here is CJ48612KND a criminal named 13-Jzall who was seen hanging around tier 5 and was seen near this building.”

Leeroy looked at the hand, wrinkled his nose and daintily shook the stormtrooper’s armoured hand with his gloved one. “And my name is Leeroy, I can assure you that we wouldn’t associate with any of the criminal riff-raff of Coruscant, we are merely in tier 5 because a property is much cheaper here and that lets us customise the interiors to our liking a lot more. And then, of course, there’s the fact that we can actually live our lives without…. constant surveillance.” The Stormtrooper took the alibi for the moment and asked to come in, they agreed except for Dekkog who stayed silent. Perkins noticed this and talked to him “How about you sit this one out in your room big guy?”

“Okay.”

The Stormtroopers went into Perkins’s room first. They looked at the two posters on the wall one of Palpatine and one of the Emperor of mankind. Under his bed, they found a metal box which contained his gun “A man has to defend himself here y’know?”

“I suppose that you’re right.”

In Leeroy’s room was a cupboard, a bed and two bedside tables. In the tables were various bottles, pills and cream and in the cupboard was an iron, a fold out ironing board, 5 different suits and a small box containing gloves and socks. Everyone looked at Leeroy who seemed to have shrunk into his clothes a bit. Luckily they were distracted by one of the stormtroopers finding a flintlock pistol and a small knife behind a hidden panel. Leeroy let out the same excuse as Perkins and the stormtroopers accepted it. Lastly, they went into Dekkog’s room who was sleeping on his bed, the stormtroopers quietly looked around but they only found a few simple crossword books and not much else. One of the stormtroopers asked a valid question,

“Why does only, what’s his name, oh right. Leeroy have his own cupboard with clothes but all of you don’t?”

Perkins answered this question.

“We have more rooms but those are just eating rooms, showers and boxes of random clothes that we’ve found in our various journeys around here.”

The stormtroopers looked through those rooms and found nothing, while they were digging through clothing Steve opened the door to his room and widened his eyes. Perkins saw him and quickly pushed him back into his room, telling him to stay quiet.

The Stormtroopers looked at Perkins, satisfied with their search.

“Well, it looks like everything is in order here, as a ‘sorry’ for taking up your precious time we’ll take up any rented items that you have at the moment.” Perkins handed them the books that they had finished the night before.

“Okay, here you go. Goodbye now.”

“Goodbye, sir. And stay safe.”

Steve called over Perkins, Dekkog and Leeroy into the meeting room.

“We have received word from some of our allies in Camelot that an important shipment has arrived in one of the more out of the way tier three museums. We need stealth and people who can blend in so you, Leeroy and Perkins, you’re going to be going in. Dekkog you are going to help me with some smithing since we don’t have 13-Jzall back yet to summon things for us.”

“Ok.”

Perkins and Leeroy left without a word and Dekkog followed Steve into a newly built room which was as good a forge as they could get at the time. Steve and Dekkog went through the basic safety instructions again; always wear protective equipment, there’s a water bucket for a reason and just because you can shape the metal with your bare hands doesn’t mean that you should. Steve gave Dekkog the OK and they started working on a new type of shield and helmet that they could use if they ever started a full scale attack. Steve had heard that if it wasn’t originally summoned then it wouldn’t work, but surely that wouldn’t be true for armour. Steve stopped flattening the metal as he saw Dekkog attaching more metal onto the already quite thick sheet that he had created. It was mostly finished but was still quite rough and didn’t have the correct parts to let Dekkog wield it as a shield. Steve then moved onto tinkering with the pulsing beacon that 13 made, attempting to see what it did or if it could be used as a weapon but it seemed mostly unbreachable and the few areas that could be accessed were constantly sparking with too much electricity for Steve to handle. He saw that Dekkog had begun to smoothen the shield and put down the device. 13’s mad contraption wouldn’t be going anytime soon, he could solve its mystery another day. Dekkog had managed to finish his part of making the shield and started pouring water over it. Steve went to stop him but didn’t bother, it would work anyway.

Leeroy and Jenkins were in separate elevators on call to each other, after the noise of the elevator starting Leeroy started the conversation.

“Are you sure that 13 is coming back, he’s been gone for a while and the empire would have let him come back if he worked for hem by now and he knows where our base is.”

“Do not worry, he’ll pull through one way or another, I trust him with my life.”

“Well, we all have our own faults I suppose…”

The elevator stopped and whatever response Perkins had was drowned out by the noise of the breaks. They got out of the elevators and found the nearest map of the city, locating the museum. They had been told to meet their supplier by the interior café in an hour so they had enough time to go through the exhibits. First was a model of what the planet that Palpatine’s original Coruscant was on looked like. Then, arguably the most recognisable planet of Earth, Terra or equivalent. The rest of the exhibits were nothing outstanding, interactive history exhibits here and an alive dinosaur there, normal things in Coruscant. What stood out was the VR station dedicated to giving the user the experience of being a space marine. Sadly, the line was so long it had cut off one of the other exhibits, but their hour of waiting was up and their contact was here.

It had taken a while for the ranger to get used to life in Coruscant and before he knew it he was involved with crime rings and was in too deep to get out without a possible death penalty, he had managed to get a stable job here and was about to risk it all for a job. What a wonderful day for the museum to be out of whiskey. It didn’t matter now, his clients were outside the window and watching him.

“I’m guessing that you two are Perkins and Leeroy?”

“Yep.”

“Yes, a pleasure to meet you.”

“Well, I’ve got what you want, a digital lockpick from memory?” The ranger enquired.

“That’d be it.” Perkins replied.

The ranger tossed it to him and Perkins caught it after a slight fumble.

“You’re in luck as well, thanks to a few new primes with the empire and these being highly experimental if one goes missing it’ll be a loss but only one big enough for a few Stormtroopers to look for a week or so before giving up.”

Leeroy nodded as Perkins put the key card into a gap in his flak armour, they exchanged their goodbyes and left to the elevators again, the roar of the engines starting drowning any thoughts more complex than ‘that was a little too easy’.

Perkins and Leeroy got out at tier 6, their elevators were linked and one of them must have clicked the wrong button. A glance told Perkins that it was him but he wasn’t going to reveal that. They got out any way to find a warehouse surrounded by plants, the doors blocked by thick vines. Perkins walked up, poking the vines as he tried to find a way to get in. Finally, there was no way in but a thinner patch on one of the windows. Leeroy got out a small knife, cutting through a side while Perkins shot at the edges of the window, attempting to either melt away the wall or make the vines fall off. Eventually, the goo was making it near impossible to shoot and the deep cuts already in there were making cutting through it even harder so they switched positions. Leeroy cleared away the goo and Perkins shot at the cuts. He was able to make a small hole that both of them could crawl through.

After getting through, they both activated their flashlights and looked around. Most of the walls were covered in vines so Perkins original plan wouldn’t have worked anyway. The vines were leading towards a denser jungle-like area, with a black flower in the middle of it. As they got closer, humanoid figures burst out of the walls, covered with a black substance similar to mold. Perkins dispatched the pair with shots to the legs and head and they continued on their way. They could both feel the dark power coming from the flower as they circled it, looking for more traps. Perkins didn’t know what to do, he rang 13 wanting answers.

“13? I think I may have found a chaos object and I’m not sure what to do with it.”

After a short beep, there was a response from a significantly more robotic voice than what Perkins was used to

“I’m busy… talking to people so I may only talk to you like this. I suggest you use your gun to melt it at the base and then shoot the flower itself.”

“Ok, thanks.”

Perkins took aim and fired, the first shot knocking it down and releasing a mad laugh that flew out of the warehouse. The next one made flower smoke instead of melt, all of the smoke started drifting towards Perkins, being absorbed in his skin. Little did he know, the smallest bit of chaos was put into his soul, psychic powers at his command with a bit of training. The vines started going back into the ground, leaving nothing but an empty warehouse and dried oil where the flower was. Leeroy picked up the flower and put it in his pocket, it seemed safe and valuable. They walked back to the elevators and went up to tier 5.

Perkins and Leeroy got out of the elevators at Tier 5, they found the base and entered. Leeroy left to take a shower and put the flower in his room while Perkins went to find Steve. Steve was in the shooting range, firing at discarded Stormtrooper armour. He saw Perkins and walked up to him.

“So how’d it go? Did you get the phalanx key?”

“Didn’t know that was what it was called but yes.”
“Great, it’ll help a lot.”

Perkins walked off into his room, still feeling confused about what happened in the warehouse. His hands felt hot to the touch but were cold if they stayed still for a few seconds. He ignored it for now, it was probably something that the human things had done. He remembered that 13 hadn’t been officially accepted into their squad, he ran to find Steve who was eating after failing to get through the armour with his gun.

“So, is 13 now officially part of us?”

“Probably but I’ll have to do some things first, call some people.”

“Ok, great.”

Perkins walked away, noticing that the flower was actually a dark purple instead of the black he thought it originally was.
