Ah, the smell of the salty sea air. The captain took a deep breath, letting the air flow through his nostrils just after stepping through the gate. His boots sunk into the sand as he took a stride, a smile across his face, tricorne almost falling off his head from his brash movements, almost leaping with each step. his soul was filled with glee and joy for returning to what felt like home. Now, to find that Crow fellow. The pirate thought for a moment, where would a pirate go to take his mind off things.
Of course!
And so began the barhopping. Gathering information wasn't exactly the Captain's strong suit, but with a few drinks and laughs, everyone talks. Albert stumbled from barstool to barstool, chugging down alcohol as he asked around for Crow.
"Ain't seen no feathery chaps in here. hiccup . Just the ol' mug and a bit of normal looking people."
"Aye, not like that ya fool. hiccup. Well, I'll try next door."
Many conversations later, the Captain was starting to feel like he was hitting his limit. Any more ale, wine, or especially that vodka stuff and he would hit the floor, literally and figuratively. Then, he heard the sweet sounds of a shanty in the distance. He could feel something about it. This was the one.
"Come all you young sailormen, listen to me, I'll sing you a song of the fish in the sea;"
Albert was quick to hop over a few drunken men as he chased the sounds of the chorus. Dusk had settled and the broken dreams of forgotten stars would shine above if they were there, but only low and gloomy clouds covered the mysterious sky. The world spun as it passed him by, guiding him to his goal.
"Up jumps the eel with his slippery tail, Climbs up aloft and reefs the topsail;"
The voice was closer. But where? Which building was it? Another chorus dampened the source as the vibration from the horde of voices shook the earth with their tone.
"And then up jumps the shark with his nine rows of teeth, Saying, "You eat the dough boys, and I'll eat the beef!”
So close now. A distant door. The pirate attempted to keep himself in a straight line, avoiding most collisions with those wandering the streets. His hands latched onto the doors as he swung them open, revealing those inside as he joined them. A dashing captain sat on a stool in front of the crowd, guiding their voices.
"Up jumps the whale, the largest of all, 'If you want any wind, well, I'll blow ye a squall!' " Albert smiled with all the joy in the world as he finally joined into the chorus.
"And it's windy weather, boys, stormy weather, boys. When the wind blows, we're all together, boys; Blow ye winds westerly, blow ye winds, blow, Jolly sou'wester, boys, steady she goes."
It was such an amazing feeling when one joined in on a shanty. The hum of everyone's spirit together as one was one that you had to experience to truly understand, and it only grew more powerful the further you were into the sea. The crowd dissipated into laughter and toasts as Albert took his seat next to the man at the bar.
"Aye, might you be the fella they call Crow? If so, I 'ave a proposition for ya. Got direct orders from a friend of yours, IRIS, is it?"
Of course!
