Alphys was at her desk, working diligently on her latest and greatest invention, one so great that it defies explanation, so this writer will not bother.
Instead, the focus would be on her break. See. she would eventually leave the comfort of the lab to visit the snack area, get a bag of wasabi flavored chisp from the vending machine before plopping down on the communal couch and scrolling through her phone.
Not much was on twitter, her doc was flooded with complaints about Soul Blaster Season 2. The good doc rolled her eyes at this, people were just salty their ship didn’t sail. Some people were still sobbing about the Koala Princess finale, and a few others were pumping up for Mew Mew Kissy 3, which some new secondary happened to have in their pocket when they were brought into the Omniverse. Some production company was really advertising that, though Alphy was uncertain a sequel could rescue the franchise after the second one.
She turned her attention to her e-mail, which was full of notifications for twitter. Making a mental note to turn that off later (as she did the last 100 times she checked her e-mail), she dug deeper to try to find anything of substance.
And, there it was.
“oHarmony?” She asked herself. She forgotten she had submitted anything to them, it was during a sugar high the other week and she happened to be in a desperate mood. She gulped loudly, opening the e-mail with the intent to reject whoever answered her match, but then she realized it was from directly the oHarmony President herself.
Her curiosity peaked, she read through the letter in it’s entirety.
It was around this time Alphys went black, landing face first in the carpet in front of the couch.
Frisk had pretty much spent the last month in her room. She was pretty glum about the death of Hellboy. Despite everything the Omniverse has put her through, she still isn’t used to people dying for good. Even when Asgore died, it was far from permanent. She thought primes would come back, but after so long and no sign of his return, it was looking kind of bleak.
She spent her days lounging around, playing games on her phone, sometimes surfing twitter, mostly just distracting herself. Her duties as an Avenger was the last thing on her mind right now.
Toriel was come by everyday, make sure she’s eating, bathing, just taking care of herself during this darker time, but could never get a word in towards the depressed child. Didn’t help that the goat mom put a no-talking restriction on Vision for letting her child return with a leg injury. Frisk wasn’t in the shape to complain this ruling, but she did feel bad occasionally, hoping that Vision didn’t think she was angry with him, that is until the distractions took hold again.
It was this day that Alphys burst through Frisk’s door, surprising both the child and Toriel who was seated in a chair just outside. It was uncertain if the goat mother even saw her coming.
“Frisk! Guess what! It’s good news!”
The young one noticed the giant bruise on the scientist’s face and wonder if that was unrelated.
“It’s Undyne! She’s in the Omniverse!” Continued the drake.
Frisk was kind of taken aback, she figured it was going to be anime related, but this was actual good news. If she had been in a better mood, she would have joined in on the cheering.
“I’ve already talked with Jarvis, and I want you to come with!”
“Wait what?” She wasn’t expecting this. As much as she wanted to see Undyne, she didn’t intend to leave the comfort of her room anytime soon.
“Well, it’s uncertain we’ll see her, we have another job there. You see-” She pulled out her phone and shoved it excitedly into Frisk’s face. A picture of a large city sitting amongst trees with a large palace in the center shown brightly on the screen. “She lives in Ambrosia!”
“Ambrosia?” Asked Toriel, she was hanging by the doorway at first, but decided to step through as she joined the conversation.
“Yeah! It’s a place where humans and non-humans live peacefully!”
“Monsters and Humans live peacefully, together?” Toriel thought. While the situation after they left the underground was far from violent, human reaction to monster kind was kind of mixed, so the thought of a place that managed to pull it off brought the goat lady a fair bit of glee.
“Yeah! Jarvis has said the Avengers wanted to extend a peaceful hand to Ambrosia for a while now, this is the perfect chance to play Diplomat, Frisk!”
The little one thought about it, while the desire to keep hanging around was great, the first chance she’s had to make peace with somebody ever since she made it to the Omniverse was a hard one to pass up.
“I think it’ll do us some good!” Said Toriel, gleefully.
“Woah, inviting yourself along, huh?” Teased Alphys.
“Well, there’s no way I’m missing this!” She responded.
“I’ll go.” Said Frisk, still a little mixed on her decision.
“Yes!!” Yelled Alphys as she pulled the little one into a hug. “I’ve got to go pack! See you all in a bit!”
The nerdy drake ran out the door and down the hall, barely missed Toriel whom she almost knocked over.
The goat mother turned to Frisk and smiled.
“Let’s go pack, my child!”
