Switching Characters
#1
Quote:Changing characters will reset you to the starting OM of 5000 unless you have at least 8000 earned OM. If your character had over 8000 earned OM, you may keep half of the OM you have earned minus the starting amount. So, if you have 10,000 OM, take away the starting OM of 5000 and you're left with 5000. Half of that is 2500 OM, which you can add on to your new starting OM.

So if I have 8,200 OM - 5,000 OM (starting amount) I am left with 3,200 OM. Half of that is 1,600 OM.
3,200 OM + 1,600 OM = 4,800 OM (i.e. even less than the starting the starting amount, 5,000 OM) Is this correct? if so, the ruling needs to be altered.

You start with 5000 OM

if you currently have 10000 OM then you subtract 5000 = 5000 then half that and it = 2500 then you add 2500 to your starting om of 5000 which would equal 7500 OM

I know you start with 5,000 OM.

I'm referring to one of my characters as an example, that has 8,200 OM. I was trying to work out how much I'd be left with.

Take that starting amount of 5,000 OM.

Add the result of (8,200 - 5,000) / 2 to that amount.

That is your new starting OM.

Well, you basically worked it out, you just did it wrong at the end. You add the 1600 on to the starting om of 5000, so you would start with 6600

Thanks.

My instincts told me I did the math wrong, so I needed confirmation.
