Deimōs
#1
Character name: Deimōs Pánitōs apó Contùrbatiæ

Character source: Original

Character history: Born in Pavoria, Deimōs was inducted at birth into the Cult of the Pavoriæ, his blood offered to the cult's god Pavor at his initiation. He was raised without the help of his actual parents, but by the caretakers of the cult, looked after carefully. The Pavoriæ taught him from birth that Orcs are the superior race to all others, and that mages especially were above anybody else. Upon reaching the age of 7, he was placed into training for the Contúrbatiæ, an elite sect of mind mages who practice the magic of the god of fear himself, and are trained for eventual induction into the Pavorian military. He quickly rose through the ranks, surpassing most of the other trainees, exhibiting a natural aptitude for magic. Upon learning the true extent of the ongoing war between Pavoria and Elandrais, he began questioning if he and his fellow cultists were truly doing the right thing. He'd been raised with the ideas that they were bringing prosperity to Elandrais by spreading their religion, but when he learned how long the war had been going on between the two countries, he began to truly question the morality of what they were doing. He began to secretly meet to speak with prisoners of the war, attempting to learn more about what it was really like outside of the academy halls he was confined to. After speaking with several captured soldiers about what it was like outside of Pavoria, his doubts fully solidified, however he did nothing to act on them as doing such could result in his 're-education.' Upon graduating his training at 23, he was recruited into the military, assigned to a squadron as their Contúrbatiæ, and sent into combat. After several weeks, he deserted. He left under the cover of night and a perception dampening spell, escaping to the neighboring country of Remia by paying slavers to smuggle him into the country. During the trip there he met Lilu, an incubus slave being moved from one home to another. Lilu was also a mage, and the two quickly hit it off talking about magic, of which Lilu was known for utilizing a rare and ancient type. Upon nearing Remia, the two began to devise an escape plan for Lilu, attempting to work around the difficulties of the magic dampening shackles put on him. Eventually deciding to just break the chains and deal with the shackles later, the two made their escape from the slavers. They headed toward Elandrais by sneaking their way onto a trade caravan, Lilu having the common knowledge that most artificers or healers in the country were able to safely remove shackles such as his. Upon reaching Elandrais they found Sangóman, a notably powerful fae mage, who removed Lilu's shackles and allowed them to stay with him. The three lived together for some time, Deimōs and Lilu becoming romantically involved and staying that for quite some time. Several years passed quickly and the two found their places in the town, Deimōs becoming a thaumic artificer and Lilu becoming a renowned researcher in the local academy. However, making a name for himself also brought the attention of the Pavoriæ to Deimōs, who quickly prepared an assassination attempt, not wanting more information about any inner working of the cult or their magic to get out. The assassins attacked in the dead of night, catching the three mages in their beds. Deimōs ran to draw them away from his friend and lover, knowing they weren't trained for combat, and began fighting a fight he knew he would lose. Two of the assassins fell before Deimōs's magic before he himself was pinned to the ground. A dagger swung down to strike the final blow, but before it came, he had vanished by Omni's machinations.

Physical Description: (Sketch by CutiChan, full commission in the works. Commission is of a more modern reimagining of the character, but it works. Lilu gets him a keyhole sweater as a joke and he unironically wears it constantly.)

Deimos is a 31 year old Pavorian orc who stands at 7'4" (223 cm) and weighs ~395 lbs (179 kg). He has a very strong, bodybuilder like build, light green skin, brown hair cut into a crew cut, and bright yellow eyes with black scleras. He has a squarish face with a strong jaw, short beard, slightly pointed ears, and two small tusks protruding from his lower jaw. He usually wears simple brown or black leather leggings, black boots, and usually forgoes a shirt, as he usually ends up ripping even the biggest clothes he can find, as they're pretty much only designed with humans in mind. His clothes are almost always tight fitting, as it's very difficult to find anything that actually fits somebody of his size, so I'm sure he'll have plenty of fun making new clothes with omnilium.

-Contùrbatiæ Battlemage Staff (Physical Strength) 300 OM
Deimōs's staff that he received upon graduating from his Contúrbatiæ training. It's 7' 3" long with a 2.2-1.8 inch diameter, and made of silver with leather handgrips toward the center. Near the ends, it flares out slightly like a mace, used for striking. Wields the staff like one would a bo staff, often spinning it around himself to force opponents to keep a slight distance, and striking with it aiming to break bones. Deimōs also uses it to help channel his spells. The weapon's strength lies in its ability to block and keep opponents from coming too far into his space, allowing him a modicum of distance, as well as providing something to channel his magic through, letting him cast more easily. It doesn't hit often, however, due to the need to build up momentum to land a hit that will deal lasting damage. It also can be tiring to keep up a long fight, as the weapon is rather heavy being made out of metal, and constantly rebuilding the momentum of the staff's spinning after every block or strike can be very tiring.

-Shadow Barrier (Area shield) 300 OM
Deimōs channels his magic to create a barrier of dark magic in the direction it is cast. The barrier lasts for 3 seconds before dissipating, and either blocks or heavily mitigates the damage of incoming attacks until the duration runs out, or the barrier breaks. The barrier takes about half a second to form, and is about 4.5 feet in diameter in a circular shape. The skill takes a good amount of concentration and effort to cast, cannot be cast while moving, can only be cast within a  few feet of himself, and he cannot cast other moves during the half second cast time. It's slightly tiring to use.

-Mind Flay (Area Attack, Debuff) 300 OM
Deimōs channels his magic for 2 seconds before unleashing a blast of mind assaulting magic in a 90 degree cone in front of him, reaching 10 feet away and ~32 feet wide at the very widest part of the cone. The blast of magic deals a very small amount of damage upon impacting the target, similar to a concussive wave. Enemies hit by the wave of magic develop a sudden and very intense headache as the magic assaults their senses, overwhelming and distracting them, making any kind of focus difficult for 10 seconds which tapers off over another 20 seconds after the first 10 of full effect. This move requires a large amount of focus, so it's not likely to be cast more than once during a fight due to its strenuous casting requirements. It is moderately tiring, can be cast while moving, but not faster than a walk. Those near the end of the cone take only half the effect as those close to him. Other moves cannot be cast during the cast time.

-Nightfall (Area Attack, Debuff) 300 OM
Deimōs channels his magic into the area around him, causing a 12 foot bubble of shadow magic to overtake the area around him for 4 seconds, preventing those outside from seeing in, and those inside from seeing out, but not obscuring vision inside of the bubble itself. At the end of the duration, the magic collapses inward toward him, doing decent damage to any enemies still in the area. Leaving the bubble during the duration before the collapse does not deal this damage. This skill is relatively easy to cast, and takes 2 seconds of channeling to cast, and is his primary skill for fighting, as it forces opponents to either disengage while active or take some damage while staying close. He can move full speed while channeling, and can continue to fight with his staff as normal as it is not intensive to cast. He cannot cast other abilities during the 2 second channel, but can cast other move after finishing the initial cast before it collapses. Is slightly tiring to cast.

-Mindshatter- T1 Utility Super Move (Area Attack, Debuff) 600 OM
Deimōs focuses all of his available magic into a 10 foot area around him, projecting hundreds of horrific experiences directly into the minds of enemies around him, breaking their minds for a short time and rendering them incapable of action for 10-15 seconds. This allows him to disrupt opponents, set up a strong attack, or disable them to protect himself. Can be cast while moving, and has a 1.5 second channel time. Is very taxing to use.

I confirm that I have read and agreed to the Rules of Conduct.

Firstly, as a general rule please list which proficiencies/powers are needed for each move alongside the move's name. This makes it easier to price the moves and such. Example: “Contùrbatiæ Battlemage Staff (Physical Strength) 300 OM”. Just helps things move along smoothly.

Barrier: Is this summoned in his vicinity or can it be cast far away from him or on others? Can this be summoned in motion? What's the overall stamina drain on this? Can it be used in tandem with other moves?

Mind Flay: At what speed does the magical energy move or how long does it take to reach max range? Can this be used while moving? What's the stamina/energy/mana drain? Is this usable with other moves? Are those closer to the edge of the range effected the same as those near Deimos? For the duration, a full minute is quite long in the average battle to be debilitated. The cap would have to be at 30 seconds if you put a significant amount of energy into it, unless maybe it tapered off after that and faded entirely at a minute.

Nightfall: Can this be used in motion? What the overall energy drain? Can it be used with other moves simultaneously? Also, be aware that those with the Enhanced Senses ability will be able to overcome the blind and see into or out of the sphere.

Mindshatter: What are you looking to accomplish with this? Is it basically a small stun that sets up a strong wallop from the staff? Or is the stun the main point of the move and the rest is just flavor for how it would be used in combat? If it's the former, it would be an Offensive Super. If the latter, it could possibly be either a Defensive or Utility move. As a note, don't plan on a move always being fatal. Though it could happen in fights, don't expect it to happen each time you use a Super Move. Also, what is the stamina drain on this aside from the obvious SP usage? Can this be used in motion? Is there a cast time or is it instant?

Lastly, you seem to be posting from the IP of a current member. Were you previously here as Shelegiel?  If not, we'll need proof that you're a separate person. Just a picture of the two of you holding signs with your characters names with your faces blurred should be fine.

I've edited the original for the changes, but I'll put them here too.

Barrier: Is summoned in his area, can't be summoned more than a few feet from him. He can move after summoning, but not during, and the shield will not move with him after summoning. It uses about 7% of his total mana. The move is fire and forget, but no other moves can be used while initially casting it.

Mind Flay: Takes about 1.5 seconds to reach max range, and cannot be cast while moving faster than walking speed. It takes about 15% of his mana, but is tiring to cast. Other moves cannot be cast during the 2 second cast time. The effect weakens with range, enemies near the end of the cone only suffering half the effect of those right in front of him. Those right in front of him suffer the full effect for about 10 seconds, then it tapers off slowly over another 20.

Nightfall: It can be used while in motion, and takes about 7% of his mana and is not very tiring to cast. He can cast while using his staff, but not other moves, and after the initial 2 second cast time, he can use other moves while the bubble is up, so it's fire and forget.

Mindshatter: Most of what's written is just flavor for the move as a short stun.  I'm guessing it'd be utility since the move itself is just a stun, and followed up with another action, be it attacking or running if it's not just used for disruption. The move uses about 10% of his mana, but is quite tiring to use. It can be used while in motion, and has a 1.5 second channel.

Excellent, thank you for providing that verification.

For stamina drain, we don't really use numbers as it's sorta too 'video gamey'. You can just change 7% to something like 'mildly tiring' and 15% to 'moderately fatiguing'. Super Move can simply be 'very taxing'. No one is going to be like, adding up digits to figure out how tired you'd be, we just use common sense =P. With this noted, all of your moves are good. I'll note however that you can make the stun longer for Mindshatter, as it is a Super Move and has the needed downsides. You could go to 10-15 seconds if you'd like.

Anyway, make the above stamina changes and the duration change if you want to and you should be good to go!
