Standard Information
Time: 09:42
Temperature: Generally far below 50 degrees F, 10 degrees C, but subject to spikes or abysmal drops. Not exactly frozen hell on earth yet, but it’s just about right.
Persistent weather conditions: Freezing. The snow is coming down in droves, although our proximity to the mountain remains a slight buffer to the worst of the blizzard cycling around at the center of the Fields.
Morale: Things are going well!
Supplies
Food -
Omnilium summoning should provide more than enough for everyone!
Dress -
The suitability of dress everyone has is acceptable. Most are wearing warm, dense clothing, or have no sensory reception so they can't feel the cold, anyway! I might have to summon some extra coats for our Secondary companions, however! I’m thinking something relatively versatile, not too stiflingly hot or fuzzy around the neck.
Weaponry -
Several formidable guns, explosives, and a menagerie of extraordinary— nearly magical— capabilities. No faults, here!
Details of transport -
On foot. Hopefully everyone is equipped with comfortable footwear, because blisters will abound if not!
Personal Observations
Location:
Starting point was at the base of my tower, located roughly beside a glacial trench that I estimate extends to a depth of 2,535 m (8316ft 11.14976in). The nearest mountain, which my house is positioned at the base of, has a rough summit elevation of 6,190 m (20,310 feet) above standard sea level. Incredible!
There are other mountains extending beyond it that I know little of, but hopefully by the end of this expedition I will have learned much about them! From what I can observe, however, and feel with my sense of Space, this mountain range is topographically isolated at the center of the Verse. Glacial steppes and layers of frozen soil extend around them in all directions.
We are about to venture into the heart of the mountain range, if we can manage it. Our destination from there is, as of yet, mostly unknown. With my know-how about Space and the summoning of a compass, however, we should have no problems with getting lost on the way.
Known Flora:
Lichens, small metallic-seeming shrubs with wicked sharp fronds, hardly edible flowering plants with shallow root systems, fungi located between scattered rocks and larger collections of vegetative matter, and the trees that I knowingly summoned from my former planet. All seem to be enduring despite the permafrost.
Known Fauna:
Snowbeasts with large, hairy bodies and dangerously hooked claws. Almost like a shaggy bear combined with a ram in appearance. They seem to be carnivorous. I have been informed that this species of snowbeast is commonly referred to as a Wampa. Interesting!
Snow foxes, hares, wolves and others species adapted to the cold live here. There are also small, purplish hummingbirds living within the trees I summoned. They are soooo cute!
Known Inhabitants:
Dwarves! I have only had words with a small traveling party, but I think they are a hardy and generally pleasant people. They are experts in the ways of working precious metals and apparently have impressive societies riddled all throughout the Fields. Maybe I can visit someday!
Trolls. I know very little about them or their culture, but word over the Dataverse has supplied that they are a very rough and tumble society. They also happen to be engaged in a war with the dwarves, which worries me a little. I hope that they will not give my group any trouble if we were to happen across any of them. That would really stink!
Fun Fact: During my first venture into the Frozen Fields I also happened to stumble over a troll’s corpse, which saved me from becoming a Wampa’s lunch and having my head bashed in by a rock!!
The expedition so far!:
We have reached my tower and, after learning that my Grandpa has left, are planning to wander further into the Frozen Fields for the sake of adventure! There are apparently some ruins hidden someplace nearby and there’s no telling how many mines or caverns, so we’re going to assume a professional wanderer’s stance and set off into the unknown!
We will proceed N.W., approximately parallel to the gateway from the Nexus. The way seems to be preeeeetty steep.
I will update this log roughly every twenty four hours. Other expedition members are free to provide their own observations during our travels by updating this log. Stay professional, you guys!!!! :p
New to the Omniverse? Don't be afraid to PM me for assistance!
