January Monthly Accolades (Until February 4th)
#1
Ladies and gentlemen, here it is! The first 2016 edition of the Monthly Community Accolades! Since Proto has opted to retire from his position as host, everyone's favourite slowpoke doppelgänger has volunteered to step in and fill in the void.

For those of you who are unaware, the Accolades involve nominating (and later, voting for) those who have outdone themselves in a particular area each month. For variety's sake, the categories for each month may be different.

You have until the end of the month to nominate your choices. After that, we will proceed to the voting phase where members will vote among the two individuals with the most nominations for each category. The only exception is if someone manages to get 5+ more nominations than the runner-up, in which case that person becomes the winner by default.

If you wish to participate, think of who stood out the most in a particular category this month and post your choice, along with a 2-3 sentence long explanation, in this thread. You are not barred from nominating your own characters, nor do you have to fill out all the categories.

The winners will become this month's "Community Stars" and will receive a blue user title in recognition of their achievement.

And now, this month's categories are:

‘Best’ Character – Which character has you engaged the most?

‘Best’ Writer – Which writer wowed you the most?

Most Helpful – A staffer or a member who gave you amazing feedback on a story or was simply there to help you sort out some of your problems.

Rising Star – Which up-and-coming member stands at the crème of the crop? (must have joined within the last month and a half or have less than 8000 OM)

'Best' Story – What story did you find most riveting/entertaining?

Funniest Post – It is often said that comedy is more difficult to write than drama. Who was it that managed to elicit a chuckle or even a burst of laughter from you with their writing?

'Best' NPC – What non-player character (can be a site, personal, or story NPC) entertained you the most (for whatever reason). Please note who the 'owner' of said NPC is, just in case I am not familiar with them.

Purple Ribbon - Consider this a bonus category for nominating someone who, while they may not be the best and have all the twitter followers, you believe deserves to be recognized for what they bring the the Omniverse. (The winner must be a DIFFERENT person than last month's winner)

Rising Star - I'd like to nominate Jams Bolero. He has an engaging writing style, and a lot of potential for character developement judging from his posts. It's refreshing to see such an optimistic character written well! I look forward to seeing his music based heroics in the Frozen Fields expedition.

Best’ Character – Honestly going to have to go with Weiss Schnee; Raal does a very good job conveying her personality, and even though I've never watched a single episode of RWBY, I already feel very familiar with her character.

‘Best’ Writer – Perhaps this is a case of proximity preference, but Tom Riddle does a magnificent job playing his character. The internal dialogue is snappy and entertaining, and he writes HP content flawlessly. On top of that, both as Ururu and Tom, his Dataverse presence is second only to Jade's and my own. :frog:

Most Helpful – Minato has been very prompt this month in helping people resolve their pending approvals, especially in the join thread. Adam definitely deserves an honorable mention, but I've personally just seen more resolutions on Ed's end.

Rising Star – I've only seen one post from him so far, but I'm already enamored with The Humble Scribe. His post was not needlessly extended, and had enough context and awareness to immediately grab my attention. I anticipate great things for this writer.

'Best' Story – I'm going to abstain from this vote for now, as I haven't been reading much aside from my own content, and I don't feel like voting for myself

Funniest Post – Gamzee. Motherfuckin. MAKARA. Granted, any time Karkat and Gamzee are within shouting distance of eachother, there's going to be high potential for hilarity, but Gamzee handles this with absolute aplomb, and it more importantly, it doesn't get old.

'Best' NPC – Though I love my little Rebecca, Tom's portrayal of Harry Potter and Ginny Weasely is absolutely flawless and I crave reading their content.

Purple Ribbon - Gilgamesh. He's had a real resurgence and is putting a lot of heart and soul back into this community, and I think he deserves credit for being able to largely keep his cool regarding Legacy & War.
And, we dream of home I dream of life out of here Their dreams are small My dreams don't know fear I got my heart full of hope I will change everything No matter what I'm told How impossible it seems We did it before And we'll do it again We're indestructible Even when we're tired And we've been here before Just you and I

Best Character - Don't know about you guys, but Solomon Grundy is such a fun character to read. The writer behind the keyboard knows their stuff, and the portrayal is hella fun to be a part of and even more enjoyable to read. FREE PLUG: Go check this giant zombie guy out. On a mun-dee. or something *commercialling skills failed*

Best Writer - Strazio Rockwell keeps getting better and better, so sayeth me. His story has begun flowing and melding together in the best of ways. Valerie and Strazio(character) have such a beautiful dynamic. 10/10 Ign would rp again.

Most Helpful - Towards the end I kinda lost track, but around the time I MEANT to post this, Gilgamesh was putting in work, on the cool. Dude was getting it done good and fast. #thanksonthecool

Rising star - N/A

Best Story - I'm thoroughly enjoying the Dead and the Damned thread in Tangled Green. Defs should go give it a read. S'worth it, totally. Skeletons and rubies and what not.

Funniest Post - Rebecca singing Grundy's song was the funniest thing to me and i dont even know why. Just beautiful morbid humour.

Best NPC - Phh's Rebecca omg shes the cutest damn thing ever I love its adorableness so much :pink:

Purple Ribbon - YO RUBY THE REAL MVP FOR DOING THE LAW BONUS OM

‘Best’ Character – The fallen kings in the underverse, Both Gilg and Ganon deserve a nomination here.

‘Best’ Writer – Tom Marvolo Riddle, This month goes to Tom for me. I am loving his writing in the Moors. Portraying his character pretty good and havent gotten bored of the thread yet.

Most Helpful – Gilg was the man of the month. He has my vote for still doing his staff duties next to the work that is called running a saga.

Rising Star –Solomon Grundy, Once more he has proven to be one of the up and coming writers of this website.

'Best' Story – Nealaphh and Tom with their story in the moors, i've been following it with great enjoyment !

Funniest Post – Gamzee Makara, He is a clown, what more do you want ?! He made a funny post in waiting for a pirate man that had to be nominated

'Best' NPC – Pass

Purple Ribbon - Jade Harley, For being an active member and setting up the expedition. we need pro active members like this ! Nice job Jade

Best Character - Solomon Grundy. I may be a bit biased, but I enjoy reading strange characters, especially when they are well written. Grundy does a good job of portraying a hulking plant zombie while also keeping his story fresh and engaging.

Best Writer - Tom. As much as I would love to vote for myself, I believe recently Tom's quality of writing is greater than my own. I haven't read everything he's written, but what he has written was well thought out and kept me interested.

Funniest Post - Gamzee Makara. I've gotta go with this guy, he knows how to set humour up well with his writing. Even the more outlandish and surreal stuff tends to have a funny tinge to it which I enjoy reading.

Purple Ribbon - Gilgarmesh. He's still keeping strong with the saga he's running, and I gotta give him props.
