Joining Application - Eric Everstorm
#1
Name:
Eric Everstorm
Character Source:
Original
History:
Eric was born into a lowly household in the kingdom of Saal, with poor working parents, and was orphaned at the age of two when his mother and father succumbed to the plague. He was raised by the city orphanage, where he spent his early childhood. His basic education came from monks, the caretakers of the orphanage. Turning 13, he decided to take on the last name of Everstorm, as a way to disassociate himself from the family he had never known. After going through the annual tests given to all children the age of 14, the mayor pulled him and a few other aside. Congratulating them, he explained that their innate magical abilities has been judged to be substantial enough to warrant training at the School of Magic. At the very beginning, the recruits were separated based upon what form of magic was strongest in them. Eric tested into the Second Order, the order based upon the manipulation and conjuring of the basic elements: Lightning, Water, Earth, Fire, and Air. Soon afterwards, he discovered limited healing abilities, along with the rare ability to surround oneself with an invisible shield of energy. Going through training, he graduated as a Full Mage of the Second Order. He was assigned an outlying town of the kingdom, and promptly was saying his farewells. Arriving, he settled in, and began his work. His duty was to fulfill the positions of judge and guardian in the village of Fifkor. For five years, rebels had been assaulting various locations around Saal, taking out important public figures. As he was patrolling the forest around Fifkor, he was ambushed, and knocked out. He awoke in a cave, tied up, within a Magic Dampening Circle. Hollin Davar, the leader of the local resistance force, confronted him, requesting that he join the Resistance. After refusing, Hollin showed him spy reports of the King holding the last of the dragons, and draining their life force slowly to forge weapons of Power, blades, bows, and armor that no one had seen the likes of ever before. Moved to their cause after further proof, Eric became part of an elite circle of defected mages, after returning to the village and feigning his death. To do this, he lead a group of villagers to what he said was a potential rebel camp, losing hem for a minute before they came upon him being "stabbed" by several Resistance members, who quickly fled with his "body". After that they, continued secretly recruiting throughout several cities, gaining a larger following. Assaulting the major city of Alkaand, Eric and his mages defeated the governor, who wielded a blade of Power. With it, they raided other outlying cities, all the while accumulating weapons of Power. Finally, they attacked the capital city, Erendor, storming the gates and gaining control of the streets, slowly working their way to the Keep, situated in the center of the city. After taking the keep, they gained access to the Throne room, confronting the King. He held in his possession armor and a blade of Power. In the struggle, Eric was knocked out, waking in the Omniverse.
Physical Description:
No one knows how old Eric is, not even Eric himself, but upon inspection, he would seem to be in his early-twenties. He has a slender build, with fair skin. His eyes are emerald-green, and his hair is dark brown, almost indistinguishable from black. This he wears short. The apparel he appears in when first entering the Omniverse is a dark-green loose-fitting robe made of a coarse material and with a hood that can be drawn around the head to disguise the facial features of the wearer. His heavy boots are extremely sturdy, and are imbued with magical properties.
Stats:
Atk:3
Def:2
Speed:3
Tec:2
Starting Proficiencies:
Ranged Attack (1000 OM), Physical Strength (1000 OM), Area Shield Proficiency (400 OM)
Starting Powers:
Basic Super Jumping (300 OM)-As a result of training and his enchanted boots, Eric is able to jump up to 10 meters into the air.
Master Acrobat (400 OM)- Eric is able to perform handstands, cartwheels, and flips with ease, due to years of physical training and practice. This allows him to execute rather unorthodox attacks.
Starting Moves:
Fireball (Ranged Proficiency) (600 OM): When holding his hands one foot apart, he can summon an orb of fire between his hands. It takes one second minimum to summon one suitable for Attack. He pushes his hands forward, releasing the ball. It can be charged up to 6 seconds, reaching approximately double damage at 6 seconds. The longer he charges this attack, the hotter the fireball becomes. They change color as the charge time increases, beginning at red. As it charges, it moves from red to orange, then to yellow, then finally to a glaring white. They can fly approximately 300 feet per second, and deal moderate damage, traveling in a downward arc, falling around one foot every 300 feet. Eric can not sustain this attack for very long, but is able to move while launching them.
Energy Shield (600 OM): Can summon a translucent shield of pure energy, able to completely cover his body or concentrate it in certain area. The shield takes a large amount of energy to summon. The more concentrated the shield is, the more punishment it can take. A full-body covering can take a few moderate damage hits before breaking. When concentrated, such as covering only the chest area, the shield can take much more damage, being able to stop or at least bear most of the brunt of a higher-damage attack.
Sword of Power (300 OM): Eric summons his sword, which appears in his hands after ten heartbeats have elapsed since beginning the summoning. This means that the more peril Eric is in, the shorter the length between heartbeats become, making the summon time slighly faster. As it materializes, this sword seems to form from vapor, condensing into a four-foot long silver blade. This sword is double-sided, with engravings on the blade. The hilt is fine leather, and the sword is a bit lighter than a sword of its size should be. This sword glows with a thin light blue aura, that surrounds the entire blade.
Personality:
Eric is light-hearted, with a tendency to look on the bright side of things. He tries to solve conflict with every means possible before being forced to fight. He enjoys being among others, and is usually very friendly.

I confirm that I have read and agreed to the Rules of Conduct.
I found the Omniverse when looking at a list of RP's of a guy in another RP (MY first and only, and very small). I clicked on it, and instantly wanted to sign up (Almost, I had to read a bit first).

Alrighty, let's see what we got here...

Fireball — There's not really a need to put a hard limit on how many he can manage to use before getting tired. And even then, fifty is still a high number; in most fights you probably wouldn't get anywhere near that number. That aside, how exactly does the damage increase with the charge time? Does the fireball get bigger, does it just burn hotter, or something else entirely? It's a minor detail but it's important for people writing with you.

Energy Shield — This it would require Area Shield Proficiency to cover your entire body, and if you wanted to be able to apply it to other characters without being within arm's reach of them, you would also need Ranged Materialize Proficiency. Aside from that, 10 seconds to summon the shield in the first place is going to be a major detriment to its usefulness. Having it last for a minute, for only a very minor energy cost, is also rather....imbalanced. It's mitigated somewhat by draining energy as it absorbs damage, but the way it's written it seems like it would just last until its time ran out or it absorbed enough damage to exhaust Eric, which, again, just seems kind of...iffy. Fixing it up so that a particularly powerful blow would break it early, or it only being able to handle so much punishment before going down would alleviate all of those issues though.

Shocking Sword — This move itself is fine, but I do need to point out to you that without buying the sword itself as a move, you wouldn't be able to use it by itself, outside of this move.

The rest of your app, moves aside, is just fine. Take care of the moves, and we'll get you set up.

I completely reworked energy shield and shocking sword, and added area shield proficiency. Also, I edited fireball a little. Also, if I want to add say a book written in an ub-readable language, that will "reveal" (Unlock) moves and other things as I progress, how should I do it?

Alrighty, much better all around. Only thing is: to actually stun someone with Shocking Sword, you'd need Debuff proficiency. Don't have quite enough to grab that at the moment, but you can always grab that when you have the OM and add the stunning feature to the sword.

As for the book, the easiest way would be to simply use omnilium to force-translate it as you progress and gain more OM to buy new powers/moves and such.

Ok. So I'll take out the shock ability, and just introduce the book when I get into the Nexus.
