Subject: Seeking Interview for Nippur!Chronical and The Nippurian Gazette

Lord Wolfe,

My name is Zubair el-Sahli. I'm reaching out on behalf of the Nippur!Chronical magazine and The Nippurian Gazette newspaper to request an interview with you at your earliest convenience. The interview can proceed over digital format or in person, which ever is easiest for a much busy figure of importance such as yourself, and will be inquiring into New Babylon's public plans for the reformation of the city and public concerns/complaints.

Thank you for the consideration.
As you got older there were days of cold surrender
Days of shrugged whatevers folded in with days of shocking splendor
But as time advanced the lovely days were covered up from view
By an advancing melancholy haze that hovered near the dew
Yet there were moments
There were these pure arresting moments when you stepped outside your head
Outside your pain, outside control, outside the bullshit, out of body, out of rage
Outside the need to get it, get it? You will never get it, that’s okay.

I would love to do the interview in person but with DA and the rebuilding of the city taking a lot of energy, I think that the digital format would best suit both of us. I am glad to see that someone is willing to take up the gauntlet and help spread around news, the people deserve to know what is going on in the city and as part of our rebranding I plan to be as open and honest as I can with all the questions you throw at me, good sir.

That's wonderful to read! I'll go ahead and start us off with a few questions then.

**********

1. We're very grateful that the King has indeed returned from his banishment, however, the citizens are still concerned about the rogue bandits wandering the badlands. Aside from just appointing more guardsmen, what are some of the protections that New Babylon plans to implement to help quell this barbarism?

2. Times have been rather rough for us little folk in the sore absence of our King, especially in terms of economic stability. Does New Babylon have any sort of stimulation or 'deals' you intend to put into effect to help the common people recover and regain a competitive and comfortable foothold in the market?

3. News has spread about the arrest of three individuals involved in the assassination attempt on our dearest King's life. You played quite a large role in that from my understanding! The captain of the guard also helped to assist in the capture and arrest of this villainous scum. While all of us loyal civilians count this as a major victory for the health of the city, it no doubt leaves an aching hole in our economy seeing as the traitors were all rather affluent merchants. Does New Babylon have a remedy, either long or short term, for this issue?

1. A very reasonable concern, the quantity of guards is less of the focus as we now have a pretty solid number to keep our citizens safe, the focus now is on quality as I personally felt very strongly that in the past the guards let the people down. We have hired a new guard captain who has implemented a more disciplined routine and a better-standardised equipment. We also plan on building a new barracks to allow for more rigorous training regimes. To extend this we plan on working with our neighbours the town with no name, as they appear to have as bad a bandit problem as we once did, helping to protect them will also allow our Guardsmen to get that invaluable real combat experience. We have also started to take the fight to the bandits themselves with the hand of the king currently leading the charge. So overall we are making it harder and harder for the bandits to perform successful raids and we hope to starve them out as the months go by.

2. Well our first major priority economy wise is going to be to make sure that Nippur has plentiful food and water, money becomes rather useless during a famine after all so the process of reclaiming desert land and turning this fine city into a glorious bread basket takes priority, of course, this will create new jobs in irrigation management and food production at the basic worker all the way up to managerial jobs, after all, if they have the skills secondaries can hold any job in this city. Once basic needs are taken care off we will focus on expanding the economy, trying to bring in tourism to create new opportunity there and I personally as the leader of New Babylonian diplomacy will try to open up as much trade from all over the verses to really give us a lot of raw resources and goods to work with. And employers paying a fair wage may even get lower tax as an incentive to help the overall quality of life for the average worker.

3. Ah yes, the case of the merchants who thought that their riches should give them total control of the city, truly a sad case. however, as the guard captain and I saw that this could cause even more economic strife we came up with a plan to handle this, allowing people who seemed to have the skills to fit the industry we seized from the merchants to take over their old businesses for a fraction of the price it would normally be worth, even allowing some of the very skilled but poor that had been bankrupted by the oligarchs to take over on a small loan. After all the treasury isn't hurting thanks to the wealth seized from the merchants so we felt it was right to funnel this into the economy. And it seems to be working, the early reports suggest that with a lot more but smaller businesses the economic growth forecast is heavily up from the monopolies that they are replacing.

4. In recent times a new product has taken off amongst the people of Nippur. It's called Moon Sugar and it grows incredibly well in these conditions. It has a very wide variety in terms of use: a high quality replacement for expensive imported sweetener, a base for a remarkably pleasant exotic wine, a regent in various potions and when properly refined, it can make a relatively safe drug akin to poppy tears. During the aftermath of the Great War the Caravan leader, Ra'tima, donated a great deal of it to the commoners to help them with pain relief and nourishment. Will New Babylon allow Moon Sugar and its products to continue being grown and made within Nippur's territory?

5. With the recent string of insubordination, even rising to the level of treason and attempted assassination- Smiling One protect our wonderful King- will New Babylon continue to make a public spectacle out of punishment? Will all crimes have an innately public punishment, or is this style of pomp reserved for the more grievous of charges? Will the king and his lords allow for fair trials?

6. The people have been craving a strong leader since the Great War, but some of them are worried about the seemingly sudden influx of visitors wanting to build up homes only since the Golden Hero's return. They're worried about predatory migration. Can you assure them that infiltrators can and will be found relatively rapidly?

7. The commoners have been getting anxious, ready finally for a chance to relax and heal. I have to ask, is the court planning on hosting any sort of official holidays, feasts or celebrations for Nippurians in the upcoming months? Maybe a wine festival or a dedicated day of thanksgiving to the King?

4. I was not aware of this product personally but so long as it is as harmless as I have been lead to believe and the people are in support of its use then I am sure that there would be little objection to allowing its continued production and distribution, of course, a debate may need to be held on making sure it is produced and distributed safely as to ensure the maximum benefit and minimal risk to our people but that is relatively standard fare for new products.

5. Public executions will only be held for the most extreme of criminals, as a way to put the people's minds at ease, others may be put to work to try and repair the damage they caused or with our new medical staff involved we may even work towards a reform based system in the future, for now, the executions are a way of keeping food consumption down and holding cell room free.

6. With the restructuring of the New Babylonian hierarchy, we have created a system that rewards loyalty, action, and time spent with us. Even if someone wanted to do real damage as an infiltrator then they would have to put in a colossal amount of work and time in helping out our citizens, and when they do show their true colours there are many proven loyal lords that would jump to the defence and put them down before they could cause any real harm to our society.

7. After DA I have some major plans that are in the infantile stages, these plans will cause the need for a few new holidays that will call for celebrations and merrymaking on the streets of the city itself, and even a building designed to help hold these celebrations. Of course, if the citizens wish to create their own holiday they could pick a day and petition one of us lords and we could bring it up with the King himself, long may he reign!

Alright Lord Wolfe, I think that'll conclude our interview, but lastly, do you have any parting words you'd like to say to the people of Nippur?

Anytime, it was a pleasure answering some well thought out and polite questions about the state of affairs in the city, as for a closing statement to the people of the city I say this:

Things are already improving, of course, this could always be done faster but we would rather do the job right once than rush through this repair and have some of our precious citizens fall through the woodworks of progress. So we ask that you keep up the patience that you have so kindly given us and continue to smile as the joy on the faces of our amazing population is what makes this city the greatest place across all the verses, never has there been a more hardy, resilient or industrious people, you all helped to get us here, and The God- King Gilgamesh and his followers feel that you have all shown just what it means to be a true, loyal and proud Nippurian! Keep up the amazing attitudes, and Gilgamesh bless you all!

How was that?

Articulate and charismatic, just as one would expect from one of our King's finest handpicked lords. I really appreciate you taking the time to let me interview you, it was enriching, and I know that the people will feel the same way when they get to read your answers. A much needed balm to soothe their worrying aches, if you will.

Make sure to read and support the Nippur!Chronicle when our next issue is released to the public! Thank you, again, for your time my Lord. Gilgamesh bless and protect you.
