Fate and Fortune
#1
The Courier turned her head towards one of the lone gates inside the white abyss of the Nexus, her mind racing with conflicting thoughts and feelings. Never in her life had she felt so homesick. Raising her chin a bit, Six took a few breaths, slowing down her quickened heart rate, before hesitantly walking towards the first gate she had seen.

So, she walked. She walked, walked again, and walked some more. Needless to say, it was tiring, but the figures and other individuals around her kept the Courier pacing forward, and her mind pacing as well. Shouts began to echo in the abyss, more voices that were unfamiliar to her. In the deepest corners of her mind, Six could confidently say she was worried. Even if she could muster up the honesty to say such a thing, what Six was worried about, she couldn't say she had an idea as to why.

A long while had passed before the Courier saw the gate getting increasingly bigger. Shaking her head, she only then realized it was getting closer instead. Six sighed, before inspecting the strange work in front of her. A gate no doubt, but until now, she had no idea to where. The Courier looked inside, admiring the flashing images of old fashioned houses and infrastructure placed in wherever this gate led her. The very instance all of this seemed alien to her, Six only tilted her head before waltzing right in after a few moments of reluctance.

It was then, all faded into white.

. . .

The ground beneath Six was soft. Almost unfamiliar, yet so warm at the same time. It was then her instincts told her to flare up in attention, so she did. Only now did the Courier realize she was sitting on a grass, and leaning on a live, healthy tree behind her. It was almost as if she woke up from a dream, but no reality in the Mojave looked like this.

After a moment of taking in the surprisingly pleasing scenery, Six picked herself up, before letting her feet take control once again. It almost concerned her, the time it took to get moving. It seemed a bit too fast, but for some odd reason, she felt as if she needed to do something. What it was, Six couldn't know. Besides, a lot of things were concerning her these past few hours.

Continuing her walk, the Courier saw the slightly dense area of trees scatter into a small plain, before a wondrously unique sight fell before her eyes; every single house, building and pedestrian she had saw in those images flashing in that gate coming into sight. All she could see from left to right was nothing more than your average old fairytale fantasy town. A small, farmers market full of seemingly happy folk, at least from what she could hear off in the distance.

All of this, and right next to the path leading towards it, a little near broken down wooden sign that only read "Camelot."

The real catcher though, was a tiny piece of scrapnote paper roughly nailed to the sign, almost blocking the end of the word being shown. Moving closer, Six almost cracked a smile looking at how old fashioned this all seemed. She stopped herself, crouching down to grab at the paper, gently as ever.

There it read, "Camelot Colosseum tournament! Come one, come all! Further details can be found at the Camelot city hall"

The paper seemed to be ripped off from that point on, but that didn't stop the Courier getting an interesting idea. If she wanted to do something, she just got something to do.

Dropping the paper back on the sign, it blew in the wind a few times as Six walked off into the seemingly small city, not knowing what she's about to get herself into, as per usual.
