Location and Role: [float=right]
[/float]
She’s mostly found in the Astral Realm where she enters the dreams of others and helps them fight off their own nightmares. She both defends people from the aberrations of their subconscious, but also utilizes her wisdom to help them with whatever real life concerns brought about the nightmares to begin with.
She also plays a major role in keeping the verse safe from dream monsters. She’ll often take it upon herself to hunt down and vanquish dangerous beasts that often find themselves in the Astral Plane.
It is rumored she has a base somewhere in the Omniverse in which she sleeps and lives, but it is unknown where it is.
Appearance
She’s an alicorn, a rather skinny and tall unicorn with a wide pair of wings. She has dark blue fur as well as a mane and tail that resembles the night sky. Her hair is constantly magically wriggling around in midair. She wears a black crest around her neck with a moon symbol on it and she had a black tiara just above her long horn. She has light blue shoes on each foot. On each of her hips is a moon symbol, which marks her purpose in life. She stands about 5 feet tall.
Personality
When people turn to her for guidance, she’s incredibly wise and knowledge in the fields of psychology. While she has a firm understanding of the mind, she still struggles at social gatherings as she’s not as good at expressive herself personally. She’s better at helping others than she is at helping herself, basically.
Her guilt for her past crimes plagues heavily on her mind and she often sees her job as penance for it. She’ll see any outside help as a failure on her end. She even actively punishes herself, to the extent that she’s even created a dream monster called the Tantabus to torment her in her own dreams.
History:
It is unknown when the celestial sisters came to be. They may have existed since the dawn of time. All that it is known is that the pair controlled the celestial bodies; Celestia raised and lowered the sun each day, while Luna did the same for the moon.
For the longest time it was just them together. That is until they eventually met the great wizard Starswirl the Bearded. He decreed that the pair should lead the newly unified country of Equestria, as they are the wisest of the land. Thus they gained their new titles: Princess Celestia and Princess Luna.
Luna would take on the job of Princess of the Night. Not only would she raise and lower the moon, but she also entered the dreams of ponies, helping them conquer their nightmares while solving their day to day problems.
As rulers, they would face many challenges: Tirek, Discord, Sombre, they all would make attempts for the throne to no avail. However, in the case of Luna, her defeat was her own doing. Despite her efforts towards her people, she never got the respect she thought she deserved. Her heart clouded by rage, she refused to lower the moon the night before the the Summer Solstice. Her own magic transformed her into the wicked mare of darkness, Nightmare Moon.
Celestia reluctantly wielded the Elements of Harmony on her sister, banishing her into the moon itself.
Or at least that’s what originally happened. Instead, when the radiant light of the elements hit her, she found herself in a white void, with a strange white creature smiling at her.
She was taken during the early years of the Omniverse. Her crossing transformed her back into Princess Luna, except now she carries the regrets for her turn to darkness. Feeling she needed to pay for her crimes, she went to work toward fixing the Astral Realm.
During those early days, the realm was full of dream monsters that threatened the people of this universe and she spends the next half a decade or so fighting and vanquishing each one. Because of her efforts, the realm, for the most part, is about as safe as your subconscious allows it.
With most of the monsters gone, she turned her attention toward the dreaming people of the Omniverse, entering their nightmares and helping them vanquish their worst fears. This is a task she still does to this day.
