Ezrihel's question
#1
Quote:@ Edward Elric, do we need to have an official judge(staff member) for a practice fight/friendly spar?

My understanding of fights (any fight between two Player controlled primes) Don't actually require a judge. and I make this assumption under the following basis;

A fight between two PC Primes can simply be determined between the group of people (OOC) who are participating in the fight. This however is something that is usually done by people who are confident with their RP partner or by people who know each other well and have been Rping together for a long time.

That being said, a fight requires a judge when both parties want to win, such is the case between two people who don't know each other or someone who is pursuing a bounty (in terms of the latter, this may not always be the case, as some people may want to rp losing a fight to their bounty to give their character more to work towards).

But to answer your question directly. I would say no, for a practice fight/ sparring match, you don't need a judge.

I'd extend this to any situation where you already know the result you want to produce from it.

If a fight has an outcome that is game-related, it needs a judge. For example, if you're trying to steal an artefact, or claim a bounty, or are in competition otherwise for something that would be a game-related advantage, then you need to find a staff judge.

If you're just beating each other up for shits and giggles, yeah, go ahead and decide it yourselves if you want. Certainly you still CAN have a staff judge if you just want an impartial decision as to who wins (see Retane v Renji as an example of this) but you don't have to. A good example of this is something like when Mickey and Deadpool fought upon first meeting each other in Dante's Abyss.

Although, I'd go so far to say as something without a staff judge isn't technically a "Fight," capital-F, but rather just a fight in your plot line. An extension of your story.

I would also say that if you both prefer someone else to judge who has offered to judge and happens not to be staff, that's fine.

Everything else has been covered.
Curious about me and the characters I play? See the 'Staff' page! See also the rosters for my characters Samus Aran or Enel if you'd like to see examples of well-formatted rosters. Hope you enjoy the Omniverse!
