Character Mechanics and Items
#1
I'm trying to come up with a creative way to make a Dark Jedi/Sith not so main stream with how everyone thinks of them. Well drawing upon an episode of Strike the Blood I think I have an idea, but I need a "RPG mechanics" check to know if its okay.

Alright basically Trixie is a Nightsister whom come from the world of Dathomir and are a clan of witches who practice Dark Side magic. She's a Dathomir born Sith Lord in the true Star Wars universe (the one Omni pulled her from). The Nightsisters have a book called the Book of Shadows that is basically a bible to them and guides them on how to use the Dark Side. It's basically a guide to Nightsister society and I'm assuming their trade with the dark side of the force.

My question...now that I've set the foundation is because that book would mean nothing in Omniverse and have no ties to Dathomir (as I don't think Omni created Dathomir) may I have Trixie obtain it through a story line from her Imperial Commanding officer (or however) and be given it to hold onto? Now what I want to do with it is make the book a move. A basic catalyst move costing 300 OM that would be NEEDED for any custom dark side spells I create to be used. So it would be chained to her hip or suspended in a force energy field around her as she summoned these powers.

Am I allowed to do this? Can I make this book a catalyst for other moves to make them stronger?

Since simply having the book wouldn't really be a downside, it would be a minor one. I guess if it can be stolen it might give you a slight boost.
Curious about me and the characters I play? See the 'Staff' page! See also the rosters for my characters Samus Aran or Enel if you'd like to see examples of well-formatted rosters. Hope you enjoy the Omniverse!

I have no problem letting it be stolen. I enjoy creating disadvantages for my characters. Makes them feel more alive. As for the whole idea. What I mean about the book is...for example: Any ranged move requires Ranged Proficiency and depending on what you want to do it needs further proficiency, right? I want to make the book a base increase for spells she'd learn out of it. So "Dark Force Push A" would require Ranged Proficiency and Book of Shadows.

Now for the sake of fleshing this out. What kind of "small boost" would the book give if it were unable to be stolen?

And if the book were to be capable of being stolen what strength could I give it?

As for a drawback I was thinking it would drain the stamina of the user each time a specific spell was used. The more powerful the spell the more stamina drained until the user is unable to stand or stay awake.

0 boost. You can't just spend 300 OM to increase the power of all your other moves. There must be a downside to offset any advantage. Hence the "I guess if it can be stolen, you could give a very slight boost." I emphasise the 'very slight' deliberately, though. You might want to simply drop the idea of having it as a move and use it as an item in your role-playing simply for fodder purposes.
