Re: JackFrost, I'm calling you out! - Sans - 02-05-2016

If no one is willing to wait, I'm willing to grade it for him. Unless you don't want me to, of course.

Re: JackFrost, I'm calling you out! - Retane - 02-09-2016

Who is unbiased and willing to judge? Or else I go tracking someone down. No offense Sans but I don't know who you are.

Re: JackFrost, I'm calling you out! - Dark Link - 02-09-2016

I won't say I'm unbiased, but I certainly try to be. So presuming both of you would be ok with me as your judge, I'd be willing to take care of this.

Re: JackFrost, I'm calling you out! - Retane - 02-09-2016

Looks Like DL it is. Jack already said who ever was good.

Awesome fight you two ! Really enjoyed it. However Frisco is taking a break. I am not sure when he will be back. Not sure if you are wiling to wait for ...days/ weeks ?

Thanks. For the information as well as the comment on enjoying it. I'm enjoyed writing it as did Kenny. Hope everyone enjoys it.

Re: JackFrost, I'm calling you out! - Jack Frost - 02-10-2016

So uh.. When will we be graded? Not trying to rush anyone( DL) but I'm just curious

Re: JackFrost, I'm calling you out! - Retane - 02-10-2016

I told DL to try to do it before Monday.

He was shocked that I would give him such a long time to do it.. =P

He can take however long he likes, I see no rush except the fact that I'm winning sooooo :quagmire:

Re: JackFrost, I'm calling you out! - Jack Frost - 02-14-2016

Just bumping this for DL (Retane is nagging me to ask)

Re: JackFrost, I'm calling you out! - Dark Link - 02-14-2016

Yeah, I was just about to post that I'll be posting my judgment tomorrow, since I wasn't able to get to this sooner. I hope the slight delay isn't too big of an issue.

Re: JackFrost, I'm calling you out! - Jack Frost - 02-15-2016

That's totally fine, as long as its done soon Big Grin

Re: JackFrost, I'm calling you out! - Retane - 02-15-2016

I am writing the ending(Win or Lose)(yes we agreed on this). But I need a judgement within 16 hours from now. DL make it happen.

Re: JackFrost, I'm calling you out! - Retane - 02-15-2016

*Note. I am not actually harassing the guy. I am just eager as fuck to write. and So is Kenny. We are ready to go our own ways. And spread our wings...

Re: JackFrost, I'm calling you out! - Dark Link - 02-15-2016

Just letting you know that I've read the thread and have been working on the score card. I just have to decide on which scores to assign, since I am rather conflicted on some of the categories.

As per Retane's request, for the sake of time, I will get straight to the actual results and will leave feedback/clarifying statements aside for now. If you wish to receive them after this, let me know.

Re: JackFrost, I'm calling you out! - Dark Link - 02-16-2016

Alright, here we go. First, let us see if both of you followed the rules you established. You agreed to making 5 posts each and for every post to be 600-800 in length. The former criteria was met in full, but that wasn't the case with the latter one. Both of you committed one violation each — Retane's second post was 816 words long and Jack's second post was 828 words long. Because both posts were only slightly above the maximum limit and because they effectively cancel each other out, I will not penalise either of you. But make sure to be aware of the word limit the next time you're in a fight.

With that out of the way, here are the categories by which the participants have been graded:
  • Style - This category deals with how the story is conveyed. How well does the work flow? Are the word choices appropriate and varied? Does the writing fit the intended tone and atmosphere? How detailed is the text?
  • Grammar - This covers the technical quality of the writing, i.e. spelling, capitalisation, proper use of tenses and punctuation marks etc.
  • Realism - This is about how believable the fight and its various elements were. Did the moves and tactics employed make sense within context? Did it feel like a genuine struggle? Was your character subject to as much damage and fatigue as one would expect from such a fight? Were the differences in stats and numbers taken into account?
  • Awesomeness & Cohesion - Lastly, this category deals with how much I enjoyed the fight and whether it was exciting and engaging. Due to the fact that fights are just as much about cooperation between writers as they are about competition, special emphasis is put on whether the fight worked as a cohesive whole.

Each category is graded from 1 to 5, 1 being 'abysmal' and 5 being 'excellent' (note that this does not mean 'perfect'), whereupon the scores are totalled. The participant with the higher score wins the fight. Simple? Simple. Tongue

Now that we're on the same page, here are the scorecards:

Retane
  • Style: 3
  • Grammar: 2
  • Realism: 3
  • Awesomeness & Cohesion: 4

Total Score: 12

Jack Frost
  • Style: 4
  • Grammar: 2
  • Realism: 3
  • Awesomeness & Cohesion: 4

Total Score: 13

Final Verdict: Jack Frost has defeated Retane and may decide his fate.

Since you made no mention of the Damage Meter, I did not assign damage. But if you wish me to allocate damage, let me know.

Also, let me just say that this was a ridiculously difficult fight to judge. You two share many of the same qualities and flaws and your writing styles are quite compatible. This fight was so ridiculously close that, for a while, I had contemplated on calling it a draw. Ultimately, after rereading the thread twice over and thinking about it for hours on end, what finally decided the outcome was that Jack's writing, at least in this particularly case, was more colourful and evocative. Frankly, though, this really could have gone either way.

Thank you for your patience. You two make a great team. I look forward to seeing the tales you will forge together. Smile Just be sure to use spell check a bit more often. Tongue
