I'm super excited to get started and I've had a few brief chats with people on the discord about my plans for Gogo.

Basically I can see two obvious routes for Gogo to take.

The first would be to go down the Westside route with Gogo auditioning her services and getting the lay of the land in gang culture. Ultimately, she would be unlikely to gravitate towards any of the gangs unless there was one which seemed to be rising to overall prominence, or whose ruthlessness appealed - and from my reading of the Westside thread that doesn't seem like the kind of vibe y'all are going for (which is totally cool, I LOVE the Westside stuff and am very excited to interact with it). Nevertheless, she could well spend some time poking around and being professionally unimpressed with what she's seeing (unless someone DOES impress her, which is always possible).

The second would be for Gogo to sign up with the Empire on the basis that the Empire are the biggest game in town, and they'd give her plenty of direction to channel her murderous impulses and a lot of leeway as one of their agents (perhaps even work her way up to become Judge Yubari?!). In this case she'd almost certainly still interact with the Westside factions, but as more of an out and out antagonist.

I'm kind of leaning towards the latter, because it also seems like it opens up more non-Westside related RP options, but in the spirit of collaboration I'd love to know what other people would like to see, or if I'm missing any other possibilities!]]>

Palaxia - Ancient Golden Dragon - Lawful Good Alignment -- Fought against Red Dragon's during the Lich War. Eventually was assigned to look after a mortal human who had gained the ability to turn into a Golden Dragon via the Wish Spell named Vad. She was the deciding vote to make him Emissary of the Golden Brood later in life. Natural and Veteran Zoid Pilot of Ancient Murasame Liger, member of Peasant Army in Custom Timeline -- Corporal in Army only for the fact that she's a proven pilot, hated by the rest of her the comrades due to driving an outdated piece of junk. Even if it is one of the few Liger's remaining on the Planet. Hails from Dead Zone, battle torn area of the planet where refugees and people who have lost everything due to the war have flocked to setup camp. Has evolved into a shanty city with the appearances of Gidi Prime (Dune reference). The city is one giant slum. This event will be taking place a while into the future - I don't want to throw a new event while everyone is still recovering from DA and Dark Data. No solid dates yet but it's probably not gonna happen before October 2018 at the earliest.

Some background to fill in everyone who doesn't know what I'm talking about: [spoiler]TLDR: The Shardworld, an as-of-yet unreleased MMO set in the Dataverse, is almost ready to come out of development. To attract players and promote the game a massive trade fair complete with PR people to whip up the hype, overpriced merch and a big event to top it all off is held in Coruscant. You can either use the provided VR stations in Coruscant or a VR station from a base you have access to.

The 'Shardworld' is an upcoming thing I have been developing on and off for a while now. It's intended to be an MMO set in the Dataverse, which can be accessed through VR stations in your base or the public ones in Coruscant. In order to 'promote' the game with a big event, I aim to organize an event in the style of the Camelot Colosseum or Dante's Abyss.

Keep in mind that this is entirely my personal view of how things COULD go! None of this has been approved or refused by the staff yet, and thus is subject to change.

The Camelot Colosseum event has drawn a lot of attention to Minas Tirith and the Kingdom in general, and although the glorious Empire remains stronger as a faction and has nothing to fear from Aragorn, the God-Emperor has decided that it is time for Coruscant to do a little PR of its own and remind the people why they're the biggest and best faction in the Omniverse. Conveniently the Prime Aeris, who has disappeared into the Dataverse almost three years ago and has not been heard of since, is in need of some aid to thrust her Magnum Opus, the MMO-game 'Shardworld', into the Omniverse's mainstream.

Held as a massive trade fair sponsored by the Empire where everyone is welcome* as well as being live broadcasted through the Dataverse, the event is sure to draw the masses. And like any hyped trade fair there's overpriced food to be had, merchandise from baseball caps to plush toys of the Shardworld's most fearsome bosses is sold everywhere and PR people of every company that has their hands in the Dataverse gaming business, from OmnIRaidCall to MMR-Masters, are there to hype up the masses and fire their T-Shirt cannons into the grasping hands of fans. Devs and PR Secondaries working under the big boss Aeris herself are present to show screenshots and trailers of the game and booths are available to both the public and the press to play demos of small polished parts of the game.

But of course, the big main event that is supposed to REALLY draw the masses is going to be the Shardworld VR event. Held in the Dataverse to promote the Shardworld, the MMO Aeris has developed, and show the game off as a tech-demo, the participants get to take part in some sort of event, with prizes redeemable in the game being distributed to the winners.
Being very aware of the risk of hooligans, fanatic fans, terrorists, saboteurs and similar unsavory elements the wise and generous God-Emperor offers a set of protected VR Stations in Coruscant from which the participants can partake in the event while Stormtroopers and other security elements protect them from interference**. Of course, if you have access to a VR station in your own base or that of a friendly Prime you can participate from anywhere in the Omniverse.

The event should be something combat-themed as is the case for just about all events here. Co-op? Maybe. The only rule is that there must be a single #1 winner, but that's easily solvable if there's 2+ people at the end, through a good old fight.
I've juggled with the idea of it being a tournament with points, where people can choose to play it "safe" (1x combat score multiplier, 1x points multiplier) or "risky" (0,75 combat score multiplier, 1,3 points multiplier), asymmetrical 1v3/1v4 matches where the one player is given a huge cool boss character to fight as (something like Evolve), co-op fights against NPC bosses where points are distributed based on performance (maybe even with categories one winner for "damage" and one winner for "co-op"?) and a few other half-baked ideas.

I may be replacing the Purple Ribbon category with a different bonus category every Month. Let me know what you think about that.

You have until July 10th to nominate your choices. After that, we will proceed to the voting phase where members will vote among the two individuals with the most nominations for each category. An exception to this is if someone manages to get 5+ more nominations than the runner-up, in which case that person becomes the winner by default.

If you wish to participate, think of who stood out the most in a particular category this month and post your choice, along with a 2-3 sentence long explanation, in this thread. You are not barred from nominating your own characters/threads, nor do you have to fill out all the categories.

I may be replacing the Purple Ribbon category with a different bonus category every Month. Let me know what you think about that.

You have until July 10th to nominate your choices. After that, we will proceed to the voting phase where members will vote among the two individuals with the most nominations for each category. An exception to this is if someone manages to get 5+ more nominations than the runner-up, in which case that person becomes the winner by default.

If you wish to participate, think of who stood out the most in a particular category this month and post your choice, along with a 2-3 sentence long explanation, in this thread. You are not barred from nominating your own characters/threads, nor do you have to fill out all the categories.

The winners will become this month's "Community Stars". And what benefits does this bring? Here is an explanation, courtesy of Alex:

We encourage helpful, well-considered feedback with both positive and negative comments. Try to remember that not everyone is confident about their writing, and negative feedback can be highly discouraging.

Review Writing Guidelines

Reviews must be a minimum of 150 words and should include your opinion on whether the participating member(s) deserve a bonus or not, and if yes, then 'Great' or 'Exemplary', according to the Bonus Rewards Guidelines. Please don't consider this an arbitrary number to fill; this just filters out those reviews that were clearly made with no effort.

Topics may include writing from multiple members. Please try to give everyone included a decent review and individual grade.

Try to go into detail about what you liked and didn't like about an RP. Try to keep it objective and positive: it's absolutely not okay to just tear down someone else's work without saying anything good about it. The more detail the better, and the more effort you put into your reviews the more likely we are to choose one of your topics to review, as thanks for your help to other members.

Please do not skim. If we suspect people are skimming topics, we may have to be more stringent on requirements, which makes it harder on staff to enforce, and more difficult for you to write your review. If we suspect particular members are skimming, we may bar them from future participation in the book club. This is free OM, so it's in everyone's best interest to keep it that way.

As far as grading goes, please be non-partisan. If you think your friend's topic truly merits Exemplary, awesome. But if we notice people constantly doing this and we consistently disagree with the gradings, we'll weigh your opinion far less than those who tend to give accurate gradings consistent with the Bonus Rewards Guidelines.

REWARDS

Book Club rewards will be awarded at the end of each fortnight, although it might take a while to get updated. Until you see a post in this topic saying "It was updated", it's safe to say you weren't missed or forgotten; we just haven't gotten around to it yet. No need to remind us. Smile

We will give the reward to the account you posted on, unless you request otherwise.

Those trying to become judges should note that Book Club reviews do count towards your total.

Book Club threads will run for two weeks. They will end on Sunday AEST roughly around 10:00pm (Australian Eastern Standard Time), which is 12:00pm GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) Sunday Afternoon.

I'd like to do a Coruscant Q&A next Thursday (6-28), running from 5 PM CDT to 7 PM. If you have have questions about the verse, take them there. If you can't make that because of time zones or other reasons, you can inbox your inquiries and I'll make sure they get answered.

A Vasty Deep Q&A will likely wait until after DA or DD because reasons.]]>
