Questions on Alternate-Universe characters - Amaterasu - 07-19-2018 I would want to clear these up before I make a full-blown join app, to save both myself and whatever unfortunate staffer has to look it over some work (Before anything else, I'm aware that my switch cooldown hasn't run out yet in case someone checked. I'll take care of it before submitting the switch)So: I plan on replacing one of my characters with an Alternate-Universe version of Mewtwo, who already exists as a Site NPC. To avoid issues I would like to clarify the following before I go ahead! -Does my character Roster need a different name to make the difference clear? -Are there any rules as to if the AU character must look different from its original? It goes without saying that I don't intend on piggybacking off of the existing Mewtwo's reputation, "blaming" NPC Mewtwo for my character's actions or otherwise taking an unfair advantage, but I want to be covered. Would it be sufficient that people just 'know' that the two characters are different people, or are physical differences like coloring, mechanical parts or even tattoos etc. mandatory? -Keeping the above in mind, would storylines be okay where I DO play on the similar appearances, but don't actually cause issues in the greater picture? As an example, say I caused some chaos in Costa del Sol, the Empire believes that Mewtwo (the NPC) is to blame, but it's quickly cleared up that it couldn't have been him, so the relation between the Empire and Cinnabar doesn't worsen. Thank you for your help! RE: Questions on Alternate-Universe characters - Karl Jak - 07-19-2018 I thought we've said many times that we don't want duplicates of Site NPCs or characters in general (multiple spider-men, for instance)? RE: Questions on Alternate-Universe characters - Amaterasu - 07-19-2018 The "no duplicates" thing is a rule that applies not just to Site NPCs, isn't it? My reasoning is that I'll be going for a strongly different character than the NPC we have, with just the same base character - something Link/DarkLink or Samus/SA-X level of different. I could elaborate with a summary of what I'm aiming for, if you like. If that is not okay though, let me know and I won't argue the matter anymore. RE: Questions on Alternate-Universe characters - Karl Jak - 07-19-2018 Yea, I wouldn't let someone join as "Young Palpatine" or "Dark Aragorn." RE: Questions on Alternate-Universe characters - Sasuke Uchiha - 07-19-2018 It's also a problem that you're choosing a solitary character. If you say, decided to join as Wartortle and we already had one as a site npc, you might have more cause for this to get accepted. There are a plethora of Wartortle out there, but for Mewtwo, there is and has only ever been one. But it makes sense to call him unique. Alright, I'll be leaving our purple-skinned pal alone then, thank you for the help everyone! RE: Questions on Alternate-Universe characters - Revan Noctis - 07-21-2018 Why not just go with the original Mew |
