Meetings at the Library - Demetri Malius - 06-30-2018 Of course, the line for Coruscant was two miles long and each person tool five hours to finally get all of their documents scanned. It felt like months had passed before Chloe was finally up next. She unmasked herself from her stylized hood, reavealing her dark skin. Large decorative spray spots and colors covering most one side of the jacket, her dark leggings reflected the same design. "Name?" "Chloe Mattews" "Reason for visit?" "I live here dammit." "Present your Coruscant ID." "Ugh, just here." She presented a small chip to the officer, who waved for one of the stormtroopers to retrieve it. "Check for malware and such before doing a full scan." "Will do." A few minutes later they came back with her chip. "Everything in order, please proceed." "Finally, dipshits." The officer leered at Chloe as she passed through the scanners, the green lights going off as she was finally allowed into the city. Security was always so tight over here, especially since fresh Primes had a way with barging in and fucking shit up. Just last year some guys came through and they sent a whole marine squad after them. That aside, Chloe continued through the streets, already mapping out the route to the library. Within her backpack she revealed a small hoverboard, throwing it on the ground before zipping her pack back up and swining it back over her shoulder. Now woth the agility of her board, she weaved in and out of the streets as she followed her gps, pulling up info on her dataverse device about recent events. It had been a while since she had returned home, especially to her studio in tier three. Soon she found herself at her destination and flipped her board up, skipping to a walk and snatching her board out of the air. She walked up the steps of the library and walked inside, the cool refreshing air greeting her. As much as she visited this place, it wasn't out oflove for books. At least, not all these shitty ones that the empire approved, but for the more niche 'books' that she could find from fellow 'readers'. Only here would you be able to publicly talk about certain things without arousing suspcion. Well, in the legal sense. Chloe stuffed her board back into her bag as she walked about, looking around for wherever those she would looking for were gathering. It was different every time. They had to make it look like chance meetings, and they mostly were, which helped stave off any peering eyes and librarians. That Rex guy seemed pretty paranoid about it sometimes. Eventually, wandering through the aisles, she found herself a small group. "Hey guys, reading some good stuff?" She asked the question with a smirk and a nod hoping this was the right place. "Yeah, some lesser known authors if you're interested." One of the group responded with a flat tone, giving Chloe a look to see if she knew what she was doing. "Sign me up, need to add a bit to my own personal library, right? Maybe I can give you some recommendations of my own." Many from the group nodded, acknowledging the undertone in her voice, making a space for her to sit with them. "So how about we start with this one..." |
