May Monthly Accolades - The Vision - 06-03-2018 For those of you who are unaware, the Accolades involve nominating (and later, voting for) those who have outdone themselves in a particular area each month. For variety's sake, the categories for each month may be different. You have until June 10th to nominate your choices. After that, we will proceed to the voting phase where members will vote among the two individuals with the most nominations for each category. An exception to this is if someone manages to get 5+ more nominations than the runner-up, in which case that person becomes the winner by default. If you wish to participate, think of who stood out the most in a particular category this month and post your choice, along with a 2-3 sentence long explanation, in this thread. You are not barred from nominating your own characters/threads, nor do you have to fill out all the categories. The winners will become this month's "Community Stars". And what benefits does this bring? Here is an explanation, courtesy of Alex: (07-26-2016, 11:34 AM)Alex Wrote: As part of being voted as a Community Star/User of the Month (I use the terms interchangeable mainly because Community Star is less formal-sounding than User of the Month), these members gain a color (you must select this in your User CP) and access to the Omni-World R&D forum. In the past this was my pseudo-private forum, but it's now a place for myself and others to discuss the Omniverse. This is also the meeting place/brainstorming area for the Storyteller Department, as well as the rest of the staff, so you can feel free to participate or share your thoughts. If the forum doesn't appear for you, you'll have to send Alex a PM. And the categories are: ‘Best’ Character – Which character has you engaged the most? ‘Best’ Writer – Which writer wowed you the most? Most Helpful – A staffer or a member who gave you amazing feedback on a story or was simply there to help you sort out some of your problems. Rising Star – Which up-and-coming member stands at the crème of the crop? (must have joined within the last month and a half OR have less than 8000 OM; alts do not count) 'Best' Story – What story did you find most riveting/entertaining? DA does not apply. 'Best' NPC – What non-player character (can be a site, personal, or story NPC) entertained you the most (for whatever reason). Please note who the 'owner' of said NPC is, just in case I am not familiar with them. Purple Ribbon - Consider this a bonus category for nominating someone who, while they may not be the best and have all the twitter followers, you believe deserves to be recognized for what they bring the the Omniverse. (The winner must be a DIFFERENT person than the last winner; the April winner was Trixie) RE: May Monthly Accolades - Alexander Blakesley - 06-03-2018 ‘Best’ Character – Alexander Blakesley ‘Best’ Writer – Belle Most Helpful – Alex 'Best' Story – Yellow Beauty Burns Gold/Golden Girls Purple Ribbon - Alex, saved the site from imploding. RE: May Monthly Accolades - Handsome Jack - 06-03-2018 BC: Everyone knows I don't do a whole lot of the reading, so I'm just gonna go on which character I think has a bad-ass concept. I'm gonna throw Little Ghost in here. I had no idea this player was running THE Hollow Knight until someone mentioned it, and that's just dope as Hell. BW: Again, I ain't much of a reader (I blame laziness), so I'll just go with my gut. I nominate Gilgamesh because he'll beat me if I don't vote him for something. MH: anyone who doesn't nominate Alex for this category has my scorn. Dude kept the site from imploding, then IMMEDIATELY went to work on making it better. Mad respect. RS: I'm gonna throw Jack Darby in here. I know the Zimmerman has been around awhile, but this is a new character, so it counts. AND he built a staircase to Dalaran, cuz fuck magic teleporters or griffins. BS: I don't read, so I don't even have a gut feeling on this one. Since DA is ineligible, I'll pass. BNPC: Samesies. Pass. PR: Me. Because I deserve some got-dang acknowledgement for my restraint in never doing anything of import. RE: May Monthly Accolades - Ash - 06-03-2018 ‘Best’ Character – Victor Wolfe - What can I say? xD I like him. ‘Best’ Writer – Yu Kanda - He has impressed me by how he handles Ash. Most Helpful – Alex - He went to war with this site and is winning. Rising Star – TBD 'Best' Story – TBD 'Best' NPC – Sand Hawk - Erik Vrell's NPC - Funny as hell, fun to write. Purple Ribbon - Dane Regan - I go to him a lot with my questions and he has an answer for every one of them. RE: May Monthly Accolades - Jak Mar - 06-03-2018 Best’ Character – Which character has you engaged the most? ‘Best’ Writer – Alexander- So far he's impressed me in our storyline so far. Most Helpful – Alex wins this category- He saved this site from Implosion. Rising Star – Lucas Kellan- I'm having fun writing him, and I'm trying to bring something different to the table with him this time. 'Best' Story – What story did you find most riveting/entertaining? 'Best' NPC – What non-player character (can be a site, personal, or story NPC) entertained you the most (for whatever reason). Please note who the 'owner' of said NPC is, just in case I am not familiar with them. Purple Ribbon - N/A RE: May Monthly Accolades - Dane Regan - 06-03-2018 ‘Best’ Character – Ash, cuz she's hella cool yo. ‘Best’ Writer – Ash, cuz she's posted some hella cool threads recently. Most Helpful – Alex, cuz he's my cool new boss and has been hella proactive. Rising Star – Not Lucas or Jack Darby, since those are alt characters and we've had a buncha new guys. Technically, there's nothing in the description saying they can't get it. Jack also has too much OM to qualify and the player definitely didn't join within the last month and a half. Lucus does technically qualify based in OM, but it's her third character so I really don't think she deserves it. If you like her char, vote her up for best character instead of something. Anyway, with that said, I'm nominating Casshan, since he joined recently and he's been fairly active. Some other new joiners haven't been as active, recently , so I'd rather not vote for them. Ben 10 was a close second, since he's been writing with Casshan and they joined about the same time. 'Best' Story – One Hell of a Randsom Note (Ash and Erik), I thought this thread was pretty cool. I liked how those two wrote together 'Best' NPC – Sand Hawk (Erik and Ash), because that desert thread was cool. Ash wrote a lot of the character, so while Sand Hawk is technically Erik's NPC, I think they should both get the award. Purple Ribbon - Ash, for being cool. RE: May Monthly Accolades - Reece - 06-03-2018 ‘Best’ Character – Victor Wolfe. The OV's number one best dad. ‘Best’ Writer – Yu Kanda. Anyone who's watched D Gray Man could tell you that he writes his character spot on. Most Helpful – Alex. For obvious reasons. Rising Star – Jack Darby.
Quote:I know the Zimmerman has been around awhile, but this is a new character, so it counts. AND he built a staircase to Dalaran, cuz fuck magic teleporters or griffins.
'Best' Story – This Just In (by Erik Vrell). Saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawk! 'Best' NPC – Sand Hawk (Erik Vrell). Nippur's most beloved bandit/radio-host.
Dane – Whilst I too like Ash's writing, that doesn't mean that someone else's NPC in any way belongs to her, just 'cos she wrote a few posts involving him.
Purple Ribbon – Handsome Jack. His rate of posting is truly awe-inspiring and serves as a shining example to us all. RE: May Monthly Accolades - Link - 06-03-2018 ‘Best’ Character – Ash, I dunno, something about the character is just fun and engaging. ‘Best’ Writer – Kanda seems to have really upped his game going into DA and it's working. Props, my dude. Most Helpful – Alex, because Alex. Rising Star – TBD 'Best' Story – The Last Avenger and yadda yadda. Long title is long. Really enjoying it, thus far. 'Best' NPC – Sand Hawk Purple Ribbon - TBD RE: May Monthly Accolades - Dane Regan - 06-03-2018 @Reece: It does say "Rising Star – Which up-and-coming member stands at the crème of the crop?" it's fairly obvious the category is intended for people new to The Omniverse. RE: May Monthly Accolades - Victor Wolfe - 06-03-2018 ‘Best’ Character –Yu Kanda - I flipped a coin, heads for Kanda, tails for Ash (for obvious reasons) ‘Best’ Writer – Reece - This was a really hard one to pick between Ash, Reece and Yu Kanda, I have had a lot of fun writing with Yu, Ash is great as both Ash and Dust to the point that people forget they are the same writier. But I am a sucker for well written first person because its something I have always struggled to write. Most Helpful – Alex saved the site and has brought in a lot of new staff, as well as refined the system that they work by, so gotta give it to him Rising Star – TBD 'Best' Story – This Just In (by Erik Vrell) - Was tempted to Vote for Sasukes thread with Kuzaru but anyone who knows me knows I value good comedy over good action, and Eriks thread actually had me laughing so hard I almost dropped my phone in the bath, so good work dude XD. 'Best' NPC – Sand Hawk ( Erik Vrells NPC) Purple Ribbon - Whirda - that editor experiance really shines through in their feed back, and they are over all a real pleasure to be around in the chat box everytime I have spoken with them, welcome back dude ![]() RE: May Monthly Accolades - Marisa Kirisame - 06-03-2018 Most Helpful – Honestly I think Alex deserves this. RE: May Monthly Accolades - Luci - 06-03-2018 ‘Best’ Character – Ash is pushing her plot forward relentlessly, and making her character interesting as she does. Watch out. ‘Best’ Writer – Whirda, I done slept on her. Most Helpful – Alex. and everyone knows it. Rising Star – TBD 'Best' Story – Violet's underverse quest 'Best' NPC – SAND. HAWK. Purple Ribbon - Whirda, for stepping up and being the backbone of the judging team. RE: May Monthly Accolades - PepsiWhirda - 06-04-2018 ‘Best’ Character – Trixie, just finished reading Panic at the Disco. ‘Best’ Writer – Jim Raynor/Cell/Illidan, great writer all around. Most Helpful – Already a clear winner here. Alex is a G. Rising Star – Eternity Larva, seems pretty good so far. 'Best' Story – The Darkness Down Below by Violet, truly a pleasure. Purple Ribbon – Trixie, for tussling with the IT shit day after day. RE: May Monthly Accolades - Civic - 06-04-2018 Most Helpful - Trixie. He's putting in a lot of behind-the-scenes tech work that would normally cost a bit of cash and he's doing it for free. Good on you Joe. Purple Ribbon - Alex for keeping this place afloat and doing such a seamless transition - honestly I wouldn't have known there was a change in leadership if it hadn't been pointed out. RE: May Monthly Accolades - Alex - 06-04-2018 Best Character - Trixie - Joe does a really great job capturing the various nuances of this woman's persona. Hard military shell with a soft, conflicted inside. Tortured past. Past with torture. And that's just the omniverse-based segment. Best Writer - Whirda - you don't know what you really missed until you find it again, whether that's a favorite pair of underwear or a talented writer. Most Helpful - Trixie - "Why aren't these bulkheads built all the way to the ceiling?" Rising Star - I'm not voting for someone's alt, and I haven't read the newer people, so I must abstain. 'Best' Story - Darkness Down Below - I've always been excited when I log on and see there's a new post for this. Violet's been a favorite character of mine since before this website. I'm almost sad that this thread is over. Best NPC - Abstain, for now. I might change my mind. Purple Ribbon - Whirda - between omnicon and helping people get better at writing, this guy's solid. RE: May Monthly Accolades - PepsiWhirda - 06-04-2018 (06-04-2018, 06:47 AM)Alex Wrote: Best Character - Trixie - Joe does a really great job capturing the various nuances of this woman's persona. RE: May Monthly Accolades - Yu Kanda - 06-06-2018 ‘Best’ Character – Victor Wolfe, A carefree character with so much potential when you write him. Anyone who gets the pleasure of writing as a fun character like Victor Wolfe can praise themselves lucky. ‘Best’ Writer – tba Most Helpful – Whirda, He has been helping me brushing up on my grammer. And look at the work he is putting in the bonus thread. The man deserves some props Rising Star – * 'Best' Story – The Last Avenger and the World of Omni: Homecoming, really been enjoying this thread! 'Best' NPC – x Purple Ribbon - Alex for stepping up with the OV and hyping us all with his purple suit! RE: May Monthly Accolades - Mickey Mouse - 06-06-2018 ‘Best’ Character – Trixie. I’m reading through some of Joe’s stuff as this character now (including Panic at the Disco) and I’m honestly floored by her intricacies. Just... yes. And getting to watch the character’s growth just helps deepen her, and she places a sympathetic spin on Coruscant that makes her incredibly intriguing, fun to read, and just cool as fuck. ‘Best’ Writer – When you say “wow”-ed, I have to think of young Wyatt (Gilgamesh/Atelos). I would argue that nobody has created a player faction quite to the scale of New Babylon, and the fact that it survived (flourished, even) during his extended absence, and is thriving now with literally so many PC members or peripheral associates it’s impossible to count, and has left an indelible impression on many characters who aren’t members of it (mine included) is a testament to this boy’s world building abilities, ambition, and general drive. I also have to note that Wyatt has crafted two of the most specific characters in the Omniverse in Gilgamesh and Atelos; I would hazard to say any one of us could write Gil or Atelos with complete confidence because of how clear Wyatt has made their personalities and objectives. Proud to be a regular reader and say he’s my fave writer of the moment. Most Helpful – Alex and Trixie pretty much deserve this at all times, and naturally they can’t win every month because of the hard work the other staffers do and the deserved recognition they get. But this month, there’s no choice besides Alex. Saved the damn site. Rising Star – the Eternity Larva is so incredibly fun and the person who writes it makes me so interested in their stuff. Can’t wait to read more. 'Best' Story – It’s been culminating for years and honestly, “The Darkness Down Below” just fucking gets the potential of Omniverse stories. I wish I could craft a tale like that. Dammit. One day!! 'Best' NPC – In this moment, and I’m not sure if this counts, but I’m gonna have to go with Karl Jak. He’s been a presence on the Omniverse for years and is so mysterious while being so endlessly specific. Purple Ribbon - Solidly determined to vote for Jak Mar for this one this month. I’ve always known Laura to be so friendly and always down to chat, and coming back after a long hiatus I was so incredibly floored by not only how she resumes conversing with me as if I’d never left but also how crazily improved her writing is. I admire the steps she’s taken with Jak and honestly she’s an incredible person and deserves some recognition. RE: May Monthly Accolades - The Vision - 06-11-2018 Doing this from my phone right now, may have made a mistake. Let me know. Also, ALTS DO NOT COUNT FOR RISING STAR. That title exists to encourage newer members and include them in the community. I always thought this was an unspoken rule but I’ll make sure it’s spoken from now on. Voting will last until June 17th. You may vote even if you hadn't made any nominations. If you have and a nominee you put forth is in the run-offs, you don't have to cast your vote for that specific category (unless you wish to cast your vote for the opponent instead); your nomination will automatically count as a vote for the nominee. In cases where a member rather than a specific character wins a category, the winner can (if they so desire) post in the Accolades thread which account should get the colour. That way, those members who already have a nifty colour for their master account have the option to display their well-earned pink colour with a different account. 'Best' Character: Alexander Blakesly, Little Ghost, Victor Wolfe, Ash, Yu Kanda, Trixie Rising Star: Casshan, Eternity Larva 'Best' Writer: Belle, Gilgamesh, Yu Kanda, Alexander Blakesly, Ash, Reece, Whirda, Jim Raynor ’Best’ Story: “Yellow Beauty Burns Gold” (Yang Xiao Long, Belle, Alexander Blakesly, Ms. Marvel) ; “One Hell of a Ransom Note” (Erik Vrell, Ash) ; “This Just In” (Erik Vrell) ; “The Last Avenger and the World of Omni: Homecoming” (Sasuke, Kuzuru feat. others) ; “The Darkness Down Below” (Violet) Purple Ribbon: Handsome Jack, Dane Regan, Ash, Whirda, Alex, Jak Mar Congratulations to the following for winning automatically. Special shout-out to Alex. I think I speak for everyone, and I KNOW I’m not exaggerating when I say you saved the site. Most Helpful: Alex ‘Best’ NPC: Sand Hawk (Erik Vrell) RE: May Monthly Accolades - PepsiWhirda - 06-11-2018 'Best' Character: Trixie 'Best' Writer: Abstain. Rising Star: Eternity Larva ’Best’ Story: “The Darkness Down Below” (Violet) Purple Ribbon: Abstain. |
