Warhammer 40k miniatures - Miranda Frost - 02-06-2018 Sooo i got my warhammer stuff today. never painted miniatures before so I gave it a shot. its not the best pieces of work but I did what I could. ![]()
RE: Warhammer 40k miniatures - Kopaka - 02-06-2018 I'm also new to painting, but this looks good for a first try! I'd maybe thin your paints a bit more, and doing a primer coat of black on the marine could have produced more of a noticeable value difference between over and underarmor. Overall though your detailing looks pretty good, and I think maybe when you get your hands on a few more colors you'll totally be able to make some of the detailing pop. RE: Warhammer 40k miniatures - Okor - 02-06-2018 WHERE IS YOUR CHAPTER HERALDRY, BATTLE-BROTHER? RE: Warhammer 40k miniatures - Miranda Frost - 02-06-2018 im having trouble getting the decals to stick. might wait one those until i get something to help me with it :I RE: Warhammer 40k miniatures - Miranda Frost - 02-06-2018 as for the colors themselves... they were supposed to be grey. This chart gave me a cheaper alternative to that citadel brand... turns out the equivalent was green. Rather than shell out more money for new paints i just used it all. Primer: Grey 73.601 surface primer (brush applied cause there isn't a place for me to use spray primer. too cold) base coat: Russian uniform 924 vallejo Wash: game color wash black vallejo dry brush: the army painter: uniform grey. RE: Warhammer 40k miniatures - Hecate Rothchild - 02-06-2018 not bad, better than what ive been able to produce. RE: Warhammer 40k miniatures - Kopaka - 02-06-2018 On a related note...just tried to use acrylic gouache on a Dark Heaven mini instead of normal model paint. ...not happening. Looks like you get my money again, Citadel!! :orks: RE: Warhammer 40k miniatures - Miranda Frost - 02-06-2018 Gouache? :O RE: Warhammer 40k miniatures - Kopaka - 02-06-2018 It's a special kind of paint. Very good for canvas. Evidently terrible for resin casts. I thought it would be okay since it has a similar consistency as enamel model paint, but unfortunately it tends to tear and bunch too much to do my usual wet blending techniques. RE: Warhammer 40k miniatures - Serraph Quarrere - 02-06-2018 ahh. I used Acrylic for mine. Heard some advice to steer a bit from enamel, so i just stuck with acrylics. I really enjoyed this one. ![]() ![]() ![]()
RE: Warhammer 40k miniatures - Tearen Wover - 02-10-2018 Already some marked improvement here! Great job! The red wash is especially nice, maybe just a biiiit heavy on the face plate. Also consider picking up a lighter grey metallic; can help with the highlighting in a lot of ways, but especially weapons. RE: Warhammer 40k miniatures - Miranda Frost - 02-10-2018 for sure this is just a working finish (told myself i wouldn't field unpainted minis) This is one piece I plane on touching up here and there over time. After all, cap'n's gotta stand out from the olive green dewds
RE: Warhammer 40k miniatures - Serraph Quarrere - 02-12-2018 Im curious on what you peeps would think. Theis is not a codex astartes compliant chapter by any means but I do have sort of a ranking structure in place. Olive green- Your normal battle brothers and the like Olive green with golden helmets - Sergeants Field Grey - lieutenants Gunmetal/Steel: Captains Gold/bronze/etc: Chapter Masters/Former Chapter Masters Black: Techmarines/ chaplains/etc. Im having trouble figuring out what to color my Ancient, the one tasked with the honor of carrying the chapter banner. I'm tempted to give him the honor of having grey or steel armor but not quite sure on the matter. Any thoughts? RE: Warhammer 40k miniatures - Miranda Frost - 02-27-2018 Due to this site now not letting me use my screenshot, I have now resorted to google drive. Just painted my repulsor tank, I hope you guys like it~ https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7qmhxZBknRZQmpCbVN4bjVOdllhZ3dieHdhMk9CdkxGOWJJ/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7qmhxZBknRZc1gzRWxjanE2M0J4cXBxVmI0cWg3ODlYODdj/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7qmhxZBknRZdVhlWnRIZzFjWHRnb3ZIVDB5eFlkbndCa3lV/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7qmhxZBknRZeHdRM0Q5OUR2WWJuMTR6QmxtdG4xTEZHQUpj/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7qmhxZBknRZQmRuaHpzVElFOFFsN2I2cDFtbnRkd2oyX3dB/view?usp=sharing RE: Warhammer 40k miniatures - Kopaka - 02-27-2018 I looks great! You color scheme translated very well from your infantry to your armor. I'd consider doing a quick black wash in some of the seams on the hull to bring out the detail in sharper relief. Otherwise I have no critiques! Very competent. RE: Warhammer 40k miniatures - Miranda Frost - 02-27-2018 wooo! I might go ahead and put that on my list for the weekend~ BO TIME - Miranda Frost - 03-18-2018 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
RE: Warhammer 40k miniatures - Serraph Quarrere - 04-21-2018 I do have a question for those of you in the 40k hobby. I'm starting another army in a different chapter but have a few parts left over from a devastator, a tactical, and dreadnought box and thought I may have enough parts and pieces to put together a Captain until i can get my hands on something juicier. That being said, what different bits would I need to qualify this guy as a Captain? I lack a cape but I figured a captain could go without one. I have a few bits that could pass as an Iron Halo. Any ideas? |
