The usual people and unusual talks - Undyne - 10-14-2017 When Undyne came to, the first thing she felt was that she was floating in darkness. It was warm around her... was she dead? Was this what it felt like to be dead? She tried to reach out for... something, but her arms were too heavy. She tried to call out, but her mouth refused to open. She tried to formulate a thought but her mind felt like it was swimming through goo... ... swimming? Yes, she felt like she was swimming. She could feel the minuscule shifts of a liquid current against her skin, brushing over her scales. She could feel the temperatures... her left side felt a bit colder than her right side, about 1/23rd of a degree. She felt the water rush through her gills as her lungs filled with air and released it again, pumping oxygen into her bloodstream. She felt all that with such immense precision that she began to feel dizzy. With each breath, with each heartbeat, with each passing second the sensitivity of her body returned to more tolerable levels. Her senses, sharper than the edge of Gokaru's "Ultimate Slayer: Atom-Cutting Blade" katana, dulled down until they were at an everyday level. Her dizziness receded and she grasped clear thoughts again. Then she began to open her eyes. Blurred lights flooded her vision and she reflexively brought down her eyelids again. She tried a second time, but more careful and slowly. There were lights above, shining down on her... was that the sun or just a lightbulb? No matter, she couldn't bear looking at it directly. With far more effort than she thought it would require she began to move her arms next. The sluggish movements, she soon realized, were not only due to her waking up from... what? A near-death coma? but also from the liquid around her. But moving her arms to cover her face also caused her to shift in the water, turning her whole body sideways and thus away from the source of light. Without that shining directly into her face she could get used to the lighting at her own pace. Next was regaining control of the rest of her body... it felt like she was putting on a suit that she needed to fill out before she could control it. Her arms, legs, neck and many other muscles, big and small, one by one she got them working. Coordinating the movements was harder yet, but when she did her head broke through the surface of the water and her gills lost contact with the water. She shifted to above-water respiration, and looked around. What first came to her mind was that this place looked familiar. It was the bathhouse, or rather the Healing Center, of Pokute Palace. The statue of Guu that she had meditated under on her last visit here was a dead giveaway, if nothing else. Next, she realized that she wasn't alone. A certain skeleton was sitting on the side of the pool, his hands in the pockets of his shorts, and his chin resting against his chest, sleeping like a log. And third, she noticed that she was wearing a swimsuit again, like the last time she'd been here, though she couldn't remember having summoned anything. In fact, the last memory she could dig up was... it was the battle against the tree and its minions? Had she been knocked out while defending the Princess? And had Sans brought her here afterwards? The questions rapidly piled up and right now the skeleton was the only one who could give her answers, so she walked through the healing waters to where he was sitting and grabbed him by the shoulders. "Hey, lazybones! Time to wake up!" Suddenly Sans vanished from between her arms and reappeared a pair of feet off to the side. "did ya really think you’d be abl- oh, undyne. you're up too." the skeleton said, suddenly wide awake, and blinked as he looked at Undyne a few times. She dismissed his sudden teleport as a nightmare of some such and nodded. "I am." She withdrew and stepped back into the water. "What happened? My memories only go back to me being brought near death by the timber wolf." "hehe, timber wolf. i'll have to remember that one." He stood up and followed her to sit at the pool's edge. Only then did Undyne noticed that there were two empty ketchup bottles behind where he'd sat. "we kicked the tree's ass. and made it out alive, too." "What about the Princess?" "she went to let the elves know and do a few other things, but she's okay. told me to bring you here to heal." Undyne's eyes narrowed. "You brought me here, then... wait. Sans, was it you who... did you change me?" she asked menacingly. Magic flickered between her fingers, forming into the outline of a spear. "chill out, i didn't put a fingerbone on you. one of the girls in the palace helped me out. didn't peek either, i promise." "... okay." She let the magic dissipate again. "Thank you for bringing me here." "don't mention it." He dug around in his pocket and produced his smartphone. "do you really not remember a thing since the wolf nearly got you dead?" "I told you I don't, why would I lie?" asked Undyne with a frown. "'cause you were very lively after that." "What do you mean?" Sans turned his phone around. The picture on the display made Undyne's eyes widen. "Sans... what IS that?" "that's you, undyne." His tone was dead serious now. "But... no, this can't be me! The armor looks completely different, and I'm not even... I mean, the eyes of the person in this picture aren't like mine! And she's not wearing an eyepatch either!" She refused to believe it even though something stirred inside her. She somehow knew that this was her. "you transformed." He took the phone back and slid it in his pocket. "and that form, i've seen it before. you called yourself undyne the undying.” “... when? When did you see me transform?” Sans dismissively waved a hand. “back in the underground. a human ‘killed’ you. what’s more important is that you reformed because you had something called determination… it’s something that kept you from death and transformed you.” Undyne scoffed. “Are you saying that I came back from the dead because of that Determination thing?” “well, you never actually died. you just were about to.” “And a ‘human’ nearly killed me? … was it that kid with the big hat and the gun? The one that…” She reached up to where her eyepatch normally was - apparently Sans hadn’t put that back. When Sans didn’t reply she took that as a yes, but dropped the matter. “Does that mean that I don’t have any recollection of any of the times I transformed?” “i guess so. but maybe there’s ways to keep your consciousness on future transformations, through training.” That Undyne hadn’t considered. But Sans was making sense. “I suppose so”, she replied eventually. “i thought i’d get you something for when you wake back up from your beauty sleep by the way. you’re bound to be hungry after all that”, Sans then said, now back in his not-so-serious tone. He pulled up a plastic bag that Undyne hadn’t paid attention to before and produced a pair of fried fish sandwiches from it. He patted the ground next to himself to invite her to have a seat. “Oh! Thank you, that’s very thoughtful of y-” PFFFFRRRRRrrrrrt… “whoops, watch out. sometimes weirdos like to put out whoopee cushions for people to sit on.” RE: The usual people and unusual talks - Guu - 10-23-2017 Alphys appeared at the front gates of Pokute Palace, a smile a mile wide on her face. She would gladly leave behind her work for this. She was in for a day of romance, fun, and whatever else Undyne had up her sleeves. She knew for certain that nothing could bring her down today! She whipped out her cell phone and set to track her fish lover, hoping to surprise her with a visit. But her intentions were quickly interrupted by the chime of another e-mail. She figured it was Jarvis, coming up with a follow up question. Boy she wished it was that simple. Quote:See what happened in this e-mail chain: http://omniverse-rpg.com/showthread.php?tid=9181&pid=117744#pid117744 After a long chain of emails, she found herself hunkered down at a local ice cream parlor. Years of memories had flooded back to her over the course of ten to fifteen minutes. Slowly, the empty spot in her life that had been filled with lies, now rebuilt themselves into a cohesive whole. It was true, she was an apprentice. Her master, Dr. W.D. Gaster, was the genius who built the core. He taught her everything he knew. He was also ever so hard on her. She looked over the chain again, it perfectly encapsulated the nature of their relationship. She sighed heavily. She needed Undyne more than ever now. Then she remembered her promise to Gaster. Quote:E-mail to Undyne: http://omniverse-rpg.com/showthread.php?tid=9192&pid=117930#pid117930 She sent the email off, hoping it’ll reach her love’s attention soon. But as she tapped out of the mail app, it automatically went back to the last app she had open. The tracking app immediately pulled up a number of her previous encounters and their general direction. One arrow, labeled “Undyne” caught her attention. The arrow was pointing directly at the palace. “Is she at the healing pond again?” Alphys questioned. It made sense. That fish was never one to be careful. But what caught her attention more was the second arrow pointing at the same general direction. “Sans?” RE: The usual people and unusual talks - Sans - 10-23-2017 The low-pitched frapping of the whoopee cushion echoed around the pool waters. Sans tried to keep a straight face as Undyne glared at him, her face scrunching up as if she was considering whether or not to dunk him into the pool. Eventually, she sighed, grinned in amusement, and took a bite of her fried fish sandwich. Sans took a moment to wonder if what she was doing could be considered cannibalism before he decided he didn’t need to add onto his existential baggage. The duo sat in silence as they munched down their lunch. The water felt soothing and warm as it sloshed up in ocean-like waves along their legs. The bronze statue of Princess Guu, Leader of Ambrosia, stood tall and gallant. Water flowed from her oversized mouth and into the pool, filling it up and giving it life. The yellow light above illuminated the two from the onion-shaped bulbs hanging from the ceiling and the rays of sunlight peering through the windows on the roof. It bathed them in a beach-like heat, and Sans could smell a thick aura of salt and sand in the air around them. He sighed, continuing to eat, taking his mind off of what had happened. He glanced toward Undyne. She ate her sandwich in silence, frowning and putting a heaping amount of focus on it compared to either Sans or the environment surrounding her. Her eyes glazed down to her navel, giving her a contemplative look. The skeleton’s smile didn’t falter, but his glowing eyes did not move away from Undyne as he stared, thinking. Eventually, his smile widened a bit. “thinking about eating a hot fish, undyne?” He said, suppressing a snicker as his comment almost made Undyne spit out the last bite of her sandwich. “Can you not be a JERK for one second?!” She snapped. It echoed around them, putting them both to silence. She turned away, staring into the healing waters of the pool with a gloomy glint in her eye. For a few moments, Sans couldn’t even speak, instead opting to stare at the sulking heroine, analyzing her for the cause of her outburst. The salt gave the air a bitter taste. Eventually, Sans reached into his pocket. Without looking at her, he placed his hand on the ceramic tiling beneath them. “gold coin for your thoughts?” he said, setting the coin in his hand down with a metallic clank. Undyne glanced back at him, her frown worsening before she saw the coin. She shook her head, her shoulders slumping and her muscles relaxing. “Fine,” she said, grabbing the coin, “I’m thinking about what happened.” “the thing with the tree?” She nodded, closing her eyes. “I just… I can’t stop thinking about it. About what I did, I mean.” “you turned into a badass anime warrior.” He said, shrugging. “I know, but…” She said, bringing a hand to her forehead, “I can’t remember a single bit of it.” Lucky you, Sans thought. “i’m certain it’ll come back.” She didn’t respond, instead merely sighing and gazing into her reflection in the healing pool. Sans looked away, leaving her to herself before digging out his phone. “Did anyone get hurt?” She asked, looking at Sans as he stopped. He glanced back at her, confused. Her voice contained a tough edge to it, but for a split second, Sans could swear she looked scared. It took him a few moments to respond. “no. you did good, undyne. you’re a heroine, remember?” He said, scootching over towards her to pat her on the back. She looked back into the water, lost in her trance-like thoughts again. “undyne, it’s fine. no one got hurt.” “No one got hurt THIS time.” She replied. “What about the next time? What about all the times before? What if I get angry and I just…” “i can assure you, undyne, that’s never happened,” Sans said. “What if it DOES?” She said before she buried her face into her hands, rubbing her hair and squeezing her temples. “... then it’ll be well-deserved.” She stared at him like he was crazy. “undyne, i’ve only seen you pissed off once, and that was when the human quote-on-quote killed you.” He said, “and when you came back, you wanted nothing more than to ensure the human didn’t go on to kill someone else. i’d be pretty mad too if i was you.” “no, you wouldn’t.” “ok, yeah, you’re probably right,” he replied, “but you get what i’m saying. you aren’t a crazy gunman, undyne. you just care.” He looked up towards the windows, the warmth that once blanketed them dissipating as clouds passed over the building. “That’s more than most people can claim,” he said. It was Undyne’s turn to not know how to respond. Sans harrumphed, kicked back, and planted himself on the puddle-ridden floor of the healing pool. He closed his eyes, letting the sensations around him relax his aching, tense, and tired bones. “Sans?” Undyne said. He opened an eye to look at her. “yeah?” “Thanks…” “...no problem…” He closed his eyes. He felt a small amount of mental weight recede knowing his motivational speech did something. It was good to appreciate the small victories; enough of them gave the illusion of them stacking up to make a big impact. His pocket vibrated as soon as he could even get close to napping. Groaning, Sans whipped out his phone and glanced at it. An email notification flashed on the screen, demanding his attention. Curious, he clicked it. Quote:Email: Gaster to Sans He gazed at the screen. The contents of the entire thing were so nonsensical that he almost thought it was a virus. It was the mention of his name, of Alphys’, and of something named “Chara” that prevented that idea from being true. But what most interested him, and what gave him the biggest headache he could have ever had, was the name of the sender. W.D Gaster. A name so familiar, and yet it could not be placed to anything in waking memory. RE: The usual people and unusual talks - Undyne - 10-24-2017 When Sans's phone vibrated Undyne was about to turn away to gather her belongings, when a weird gut feeling prompted her to turn back. She peeked over his shoulder for just a split second, skipping to the bottom of the message - what with respecting his privacy and whatnot. It was the signature at the bottom she was interested in, and she recognized that. "Gaster? THE Double-u Dee Gaster?" Sans seemed to tense up for a moment. Or perhaps it was just her imagination. Could a skeleton even tense up, being made of bones and no muscles? "i doubt it's really him", he said dismissively as he put the phone away. "he had a more memorable way of writing." He stood up and dusted his shorts off. "i'm surprised that you know him." "I don't. I read his name a few times, mostly in Alphys's lab. There's also some records in New Home's books, talking about him." She blinked as something resurfaced to her mind. Back from the fight against the tree. "Sans... there's something we didn't get to finish." "what's that?" "That big goat skull. Don't even try to play dumb, I know what I saw", she warned sharply. Sans thought for a moment, then raised his hand. Besides him appeared the same thing she had seen him use in the fight, except that this one didn't have any bright light shining between its jaws. "you mean this?" It floated there for two seconds then disappeared into nothingness again. "Exactly that. Explain to me why that skull looks the exact same as the machine that Gaster built. The Extractor of something, I believe it was called?" "no, it was..." Sans briefly considered his words, then shook his head. "you saw it? when?" "In the books. Alphys has... I mean, had a bunch of folders about a laboratory she told me has since collapsed or something. That Extractor thing was in them, there were blueprints and pictures of the finished product. Said that it had been invented by Gaster. And down to the pattern of bone on..." Not knowing the words, she dragged an index from the bridge of her nose towards her chin. "... on this line, your skull thing bears a striking resemblance. So I ask again, why do you have that skull that looks so similar?" To give her words more weight she leant closer to Sans, but the skeleton looked unimpressed. "i've seen the extractor, obviously", he said. His straight answer startled Undyne, who took a moment to ask. "When? And why did you copy the design?" "hey now", said Sans with a slightly broader grin and a shoulder shrug. "this ain't detective conan." "Sans..." She narrowed her eye. "i guess i liked the design, that's all." When Undyne opened her mouth to follow up on this he raised a finger. "hey, i ain't lying. you know why not? ... because i'm a skeleton. you'd see right through me." For the briefest of moments, Undyne made a grimace that uncannily resembled Frisk's expression, then she turned around and headed to the changing rooms. "You're going to turn me into that monster form one day, Sans. Out of sheer annoyance." Then she was off to the ladies' changing rooms. Just as she was pulling her tanktop back on her phone buzzed and she hastily pulled it from her pocket. This had to be the Princess, or Alphys! Either way it was important... Quote:The text she received Alphys! But what was that about an acquaintance? Could it be...? She thought back to Sans's text, then stuffed her swimsuit into a pocket to desummon later and rushed out to meet the skeleton at the entrance to the springs area. Without taking the time to explain she grabbed the skeleton by his head, leapt over a pair of squealing monsters from the palace and rushed towards the exit while tucking Sans under her armpit like a log of wood. Considering how she was rushing towards the exit without putting on her armor, Sans quickly put two and two together even without seeing Alphys's text. He just grinned as he enjoyed the type of fast ride that was normally reserved for Alphys when Undyne gave her a lift to the Waterfall dump area, or back to Hotland. RE: The usual people and unusual talks - Guu - 10-26-2017 Alphys made her way to the palace, following her previous hunch. It would make it easier if Sans was with Undyne, though then again it may not. Timelines are a bitch. She felt a fairly large lump in her throat. She was notoriously bad with people, so when situations crop up like this, she couldn’t help but feel the nervousness well up deep in her soul. She wasn’t ready to see Gaster after only just now remembering him, no less having to take charge in his wellbeing. She wasn’t sure what she was going to do. But as she cleared the Palace Gates, she felt herself scooped up in the arms of a fish woman. “Alphys you big goof!” The doctor could feel her spine cracking under the pressure of her affection. She squealed, a little bit from joy, but also from the pain. “Um… Undyne… I need oxygen.” “What? Oh! Right!” Undyne said, dropping her down on her feet. She still embraced the good doctor as she looked her the eyes. “How do you keep finding out I’m here?” “Oh, heh, well, this time Molly texted me.” Alphys said, averting her eyes a little bit in embarrassment. “She’s a bit of a shipper apparently...” “Shipper? What does that-” Undyne was interrupted mid-thought with a stream of nerd-out memories. ”Oh.” Sans, who was merely watching the ensuing romance, finally stepped out from behind Undyne, which caught the drake’s attention. “Oh! Sans! So you were with Undyne!” “Hey Alphys, do you want to to eat this hot fish?” Sans said, holding out an uneaten fried fish sandwich. “Oh, geeze...” The doctor turned bright red in an instant. Undyne suddenly pulled Sans into in a headlock and give the top of his skull a taste of her twisting fist. “Sans you bonehead!” She said while laughing jovially. “Embarrassing Alphys like that!” “I am a bonehead.” Sans said plainly, barely reacting to the sudden noogie. “Shut up!!” The three settled at the same ice cream parlor. Alphys pretended she hadn’t been there earlier that day, but the looks the waitress was giving her was hard to ignore. Sans got a ketchup sorbet, which got odd looks from his compadres. Undyne on the other hand, ordered the nori ice cream. Alphys got a red bean milkshake with pocky on the side for dipping. While waiting for their desserts, Alphys got to talk about her work, her breakthroughs in holographic technology. Undyne got to talk about her business with an evil tree. Halfway through telling her epic tale, they were interrupted by someone who was walking by: Sylvia Black, second in command of Ambrosia was making her way through the store. She had three milkshakes in a take out cup holder tray. Undyne took the moment to speak up. “Sylvia! You got any missions for me?” Undynes voice almost startled the punk girl, her mind obviously somewhere else at the moment. After a moment deliberation, she finally responded. “Right. Word has it a new skeleton has come into town-” “Gaster” Undyne said. “Ah, good, you’ve heard of him.” Sylvia said, relieved at her job finally being easier for once. “He’s probably just looking for shelter, but the guards were unnerved. Can you check up on him, make sure he’s not here to cause trouble?” “Ah, well, we were going to do that anyways.” “Great! You do that.” She said with a smile. She made her way to the door. “Sorry I can’t stay to chat, but i’m late for a meeting with two shih tsus and a tanuki.” As soon as Sylvia was gone, the waitress finally came with their ice cream in toe. As “So tell me more about this Gaster guy, would be nice to know a little more about who we should be looking out for.” “He’s like a scientist.” Stated Sans plainly. “And he is a skeleton.” “What do you know Alphys?” As she expected, Sans was going to be no help at all. The doctor was on her own in explaining Gaster. “Well, he was like my mentor for a while.” Said Alphys. “Wait, really?” Undyne responded. “Like me and Asgore?” “Yeah, I worked under him in the lab… well, in before an accident made me the head royal scientist.” “An accident?” “Yeah, he fell into the core. It put him out of time and space, erasing him from existence.” “I guess his time was at an end.” Quipped Sans “Most people’s memories of him were wiped, including mine. I couldn’t remember him until he e-mailed me earlier today.” “Woah wait, so you didn’t even remember this guy and suddenly he’s calling in favors?” said Undyne. She imagined a sudden long lost family member abruptly moving into your house and using up all your towels. “That sucks!” “Yeah.” Said Alphys, solemnly. RE: The usual people and unusual talks - Sans - 11-01-2017 “So, wait a minute, this gaster guy was your mentor, Alphy?” Undyne said after a brief moment of silence. “Y-Yeah,” Alphys replied, taking a sip of her red bean milkshake, “h-he taught me everything I know.” “He’s an anime nerd too?!” Undyne exclaimed. The gold lizard chuckled, her cheeks blushing. “Actually, no. T-That one’s all me.” “Well, now he sounds like less fun.” “W-Well, n-no, he’s fine! He’s just…” She paused, her finger twirling the straw inside her milkshake. For a few moments, the business inside the parlor from wandering waitresses, the chatter of their fellow, equally monstrous customers, and the light, almost inaudible jazz playing from the speakerphones above them. “H-He’s… a bit… vindictive,” she finally said. Undyne blinked before her eyes narrowed a bit. “Vindictive? Like, he… he hates humans, right?” Alphys gave her a barely visible nod. The fish glanced off in the direction Sylvia went off to before bringing a hand to her forehead. “Gah, this is gonna be great…” she spoke through gritted teeth and an exasperated grunt, “is that why he wants to meet up?” “Y-Yeah. H-He thinks i-if we don’t and he finds a human he’ll…” The scientist fidgeted in her chair, her tail wriggling. “I-It wo-won’t be pretty…” “Fantastic…” Undyne replied as she finished off the last of her milkshake. She slammed it back down on the table with enough force to crack the glass a bit. She brought some fingers to her head, rubbing at her temples. “So, just to see if I’m on board with this, this gaster guy is an unstable skeleton guy who hates humans and was also your mentor, and no one can remember him because when he jumped into the CORE, he erased himself from time and space and thus wiping away everyone’s memory of him?” Alphys paused for a short moment, processing the entirety of Undyne’s spiel. She eventually nodded. “That sounds like the weirdest anime plot in existence,” the fish warrior proclaimed, a smile forming on her face, “I absolutely love it!!” “O-Okay…” Alphys said, blinking away her confusion. “What do you think about this, Sans?” Undyne said, turning towards the skeletal comedian. She saw him staring at the center of the table, stiff as a board and somehow whiter than white itself. Only his fingers moved, and they constantly dug into the fabric of his shorts, as if his hands had been stapled to his legs. His trademark smile stretched far and wide, only growing in width with every passing second in a way that wasn’t possible for anyone, human or monster, to accomplish without pain. His glowing, pin-prick sized eyes vibrated within the darkness inside his eye sockets. “Sans?” Undyne said, lifting a hand and moving it towards the skeleton. *** Don’t forget. He remembered those two words as clear as the day itself. The small, almost imperceptible red crayon sentence flashed inside his bony head over and over again. Don’t forget, don’t forget, don’t forget. Such a simple sentence, packed with a meaning invisible to his comprehensive eye. He stumbled towards the basement door, the snowstorm around him blowing snow and ice into him and blinding his vision. He unlocked the door with a shivering hand, rushing inside to escape the cold. He stepped down the stairs, his head pulsing, static in his vision as he descended into the darkness below. He found himself back in the room he had frequented so often in an earlier time and one that he had attempted to remove from memory: The White Room. The room of white walls, checkered floors, endless shelves and computers, and the pink curtain at the very end of The White Room. He stomped towards the shelves, each step lethargic at best, his coat stained with ketchup and his breath smelling of the foul substance. He pulled open a drawer, wading through a variety of graphs and reports until he found it. He pulled the picture out and stared it. It was him and Papyrus, standing in the middle of a forest, smiling into the camera. The snow had been calm that day, barely drizzling to provide the skeletons with the vacation they wanted. It was a time where he didn’t have to force a smile on his face, where his grin was never stretched or pained. The photograph looked skewed and empty, though, as if the center of the photograph was off entirely. He stared at the empty space to his left where a head should have been. Then, a face started to emerge from the black, blemished spot in the print. A smiling, cracked face with pin-prick, glowing dots in the eyeholes. It was like watching a tear in reality. Don’t forget, he told himself at the time. One could not forget the most important memories, else one was doomed to repeat them over and over again. Yet he could not place the face to any name in memory. He closed his eyes and grit his teeth, struggling to remember. Don’t forget. Don’t forget. Don’t forget. Never forget. Never. Never. Never. *** Undyne placed a hand on Sans’ shoulder. His eyes snapped towards it, anticipating a violent retribution for some slight before his body slumped backwards. He loosened, leaning back against his chair. “oh, sorry, i kinda spaced out. what happened?” sans said, his tone casual and dismissive. He glanced between the two as he sipped his ketchup milkshake, sliding his feet onto the top of the table. RE: The usual people and unusual talks - W.D. Gaster - 11-02-2017 Of course, while there was a discussion in between the three friends in terms of Gaster, whom was currently making his way to ice cream parlor within the vicinity of the Pokute Palace which Moogie was fortunate to know of counting the message that the skeleton had received. As the two were traversing in the early twilight of the city, the crowds had lessened much to Gaster's content and to anyone who saw the mysterious newcomer, whispers erupted in between bystanders, even as he walking cautiously and carefully.
"We are almost there, kupo." mentioned Moogie as he was leading Gaster along. "Soon enough, we will have you back with the others, kupo!" Gaster kept himself calm as he sighed. As to reunite with Sans and even Alphys after what it seems to be an eternity in the Void brought him a sense of relief but he can't help that he would have to catch the both of them up to form. The time for rest is over and he knows that it is no doubt especially on terms with Alphys. Youth, so young, so inexperienced, he had remembered a time that he was such but those days were long gone; the skeleton had changed since that time if not drastically. It wasn't long before Moogie rushed ahead and looked in; opening his eyes he noticed three monsters sitting inside the building. When he saw Sans, Alphys and Undyne, he was relieved and it wasn't long before Gaster stopped. "Are they inside?" The moogle turned around and nodded. "Yep, they are as mentioned and it's good thing I came along on this to help. Now, if you would back up for a bit, kupo." Taking notice, Gaster had walked back a bit as Moogie had leapt up and opened the door to the icecream parlor as it swung open with him on it. "Here ya go! Go ahead now, I'll catch up soon, kupo." The skeleton nodded before he had entered inside before Moogie just hung there before he fell on the ground with a thud and quickly got up, dusting his white fur off and hurried inside. While Gaster was entering inside, it wasn't long before there was an eerie stillness in the parlor as several patrons had seemed to had frozen in place with some were silently watching the movement of the skeleton as he made his way towards Sans, Alphys and Undyne. Despite of the situation, Gaster was ignoring the looking eyes as he was making his way down the aisle with his arms behind his back. Of course, it wouldn't be long before he would come across the table of the trio and the first thing was him looking towards Sans. Seeing him with his feet on table, he frowned a bit before grunted disappointingly at the gesture. Perhaps he had been gone for too long.. After a moment, he straightened himself up for a bit as he opened with. "Good evening Undyne, Sans.." There was a quick glance towards Alphys' direction. "..Alphys." As it would seem, Gaster seems to be directing his format of expectation towards the short yellow bespectacled monster with a slight hint on the tone that would put anyone on edge by the example of lingering condescension. Those emails he had received from her should had surmount to something more than just plain words. After all, anyone could say something and be it a web of fabricated lies and he despised these practices especially with Alphys, knowing she was one of his direct pupils besides Sans. Disappointment was the last thing Gaster wants or even needs despite of the fact that the feeling that anyone could fall for that trap even for himself as much as he doesn't want to admit it. While this was happening, Moogie came in and joined up with Gaster, panting a bit but he returned to format however, he can't help but to remain on guard about the situation between the trio along with the newcomer, or rather, acquaintance in a sense. After all, looking in between Gaster and the trio had him a but nervous but excited in secret.
RE: The usual people and unusual talks - Guu - 11-02-2017 Alphys was hit with a wall of pure disappointment at the boney hands of her old master. She looked towards Undyne for backup who gave her a scrunched up look that could only be translated as “Holy crap you weren’t kidding!” But suddenly, the fish girl had a thought her head, which caused her to shoot the the doctor a question. “Wait, how did you know my name?” She inquired. “Oh, when you you’ve fallen through time and space, you have tendency of knowing everyone.” He explained before shooting Alphys another glare. “Or has my… protege failed to mention that fact?” “She did explain that...” Undyne began to explain, but was interrupted. “Ah, then she can do something right.” Undyne was already on the verge to snap a skeleton’s neck for treating her love so poorly. But before she can take action, Alphys glanced over and shook her head, her eyes pleading her to stand down. The warrior instead sighed and then held back, gritting teeth and stabbing the hell out of her ice cream with her spoon. Gaster pulled up a chair and rather methodically took a seat. It was now that the waitress noticed the table had gained another occupant. She quickly headed over placed a menu in front of him. “I didn’t realize this was a party of four! Are you paying together or separate?” Alphys looked over towards Gaster who only gave her the lazy man’s equivalent of a the look of eternal suffering and torment. “To-together.” Stumbled Alphys. “Any flavor you have in mind sir?” Asked the Waitress, “Or do you need time to look?” “I want ice cream in the flavor of tormented souls.” The table was silent. The group was in a combination between horrified and shock. However, the waitress seemed unperturbed. “Would a substitute do just fine?” “Wait, what?” Cried out Alphys. “Yeah, I can’t sell the souls of people obviously, but we do a carry a substitute in case we have reformed soul eaters roaming into town. It’s a bit off-menu, but you’d be surprised how useful it is to keep a few cans around.” She explained. Her body goes into a lean as she reminisces. “In fact just last week, we came across a couple, nice people outside the fact they ate souls of course. I told them about the substitution option, claimed it tasted just like the real thing! Even promised to go cold turkey! Probably saved a few lives with that one. Oh yeah, not to mention it’s vegan friendly. apparently! I know a few vegans who order that all the-” “Ummm, sorry, I wasn’t actually serious with my order.” Interjected Gaster. A few patrons nearby sighed in relief, they honestly didn’t want to know what soul ice cream looked like. Though the entire conversation has left them visibly scarred. “Oh!” Said the waitress, straightening herself out before putting pen to paper once again. “Alright! Then what would you like instead?” The skeleton slowly pulled open the menu and scanned its contents. “I’ll… have… the vanilla. That’ll be it.” “Yes sir!” Said the waitress, jotting it down and leaving for the back room. Gaster looked over the rest of the group, who, outside Sans’ ‘don’t give a crap’ attitude, have yet to figure out how they feel about the whole scenario. “I am a fan of dark humor apparently.” Explained Gaster. “It is a good, laugh, don’t you think? Hahahaha.” Alphy begins laughing uncomfortably alongside her master. “Don’t laugh unless you mean it!” Snapped Gaster jabbing a boney finger at the doctor. Alphys cowered under her master’s fury, Undyne was a mere seconds away from planting a spear into Gaster’s face. But suddenly, the dark skeleton withdraw his finger and laughed some more. “Get it? I was kidding. Dark humor haha.” The rest of the group reluctantly join in on the laughter, uncomfortably. Suddenly, the moogle besides Gaster spoke up. “Hey um, I’m still here btw.” He said, reminding the group of his existence. “Oh right!” Said Alphys, all the stress of talking to Gaster has made her forget the existence of the little one. “Would you like us to get you ice cream, too? You know, as thanks for helping our, um, relation.” “Oh no, I’m fine in that front.” Replied the moogle. “But a chair would be nice.” “I’ll get you one.” Stated Undyne, eager for an excuse to get up for a few seconds. She went to the table clear across the room to grab a seat before plopping it haphazardly behind the fluffy gentleman. Moogle pulled up the seat and with a little leap, sat down. “Thanks! My legs were getting tired!” RE: The usual people and unusual talks - Undyne - 11-20-2017 Though Undyne was happy to be away from the table for a short while she was feeling an itch in her fingers to get into... well, something. Whether it was just to train her combat skills with Taitan, something she had neglected for far too long, or to do something for Ambrosia, or even to go shopping for anime. She wanted to bash in a few heads. To defeat an opponent with all her might and without being brought to near death a third time. To learn more about this form that she knew about now thanks to Sans... and to master it. She was a knight on the battlefield, a paragon of justice, the spear that defeated evildoers and the shield that protected the innocents from them - not a berserker that attacked everyone around themselves. Actually, a shield would be nice to have. But how could a shield be really anime? Maybe something particularly decorated? She let her look pass over the table, eyeballing the others that were seated there. Gaster was enjoying his ice cream, either oblivious to the awkward silence of the others or not minding it. Sans and Alphys periodically slurped their drinks through the straws. The skeleton was, as always, hard to read with that everpresent smile plastered on his cheeks. Come to think of it, maybe that was BECAUSE he was a skeleton? He had no lips to cover his teeth with. Alphys fidgeted around on her seat with visible discomfort and kept her eyes mostly focused on Gaster. The Moogle leant back on his chair, waiting and watching. He didn't seem to mind Gaster's creepy looks at all. But according to the... what, skeleton? he hadn't been around Ambrosia for long yet, before meeting them. Had he made a friend in so little time? Either he was a nicer guy than it seemed, or... well, maybe the Moogle was just not noticing for some reason. "Okay!" she exclaimed once the last spoonful of ice cream was on its way towards her stomach. With the silence at the table everyone's heads turned to her. "I'm going to go back to the Palace... you guys probably have a lot of catching up to do and I don't want to be in the middle of that. Besides I can't be sitting here all day... I'm sure that Sylvia or Molly will have more witch-trees for me to uproot and whatnot." "O-okay", Alphys said. "Take care, Undyne." "You too, Alphys. Oh, by the way - we should go to that Avengers place sometime. The place you work at, I mean." As the drake nodded eagerly, Undyne pulled a handful of coins from her pocket that she put in Alphys's hand. "Oh, and here's for the table... my treat, as a celebration for killing that rotten tree." She then turned towards Sans. "Thanks for letting me know about you-know-what... I feel better knowing." "anytime. see ya around." "You too. I'll shoot you a message if I meet anyone else." Then came Gaster. Undyne put on a big half-forced smile. "Gaster... well, it was nice meeting you. I hope that things work out for you here in Ambrosia." "I'm sure that they will. This is a nice city", the skeleton-man replied in a friendly tone. Undyne leant in close. A spear crackling with energy materialized into her hand, its tip tickling Gaster's neck. "And if I hear that you so much as laid a finger on Alphys or Sans I'll scatter you across space and time until not even Omni can glue you back together." She withdrew once more and the weapon dissolved. "Am I clear?" "Crystal clear." Not a hint of fear in his voice... Undyne had to admit to herself that he was quite the courageous one. Kind of like Papyrus in that regard. "Good." Last, the Moogle. Not really knowing what to say, she just said: "To you too... have a good day, and uh... yeah!" "Hehe... you too!" the Moogle replied cheerfully. With that Undyne put on her bright smile again and faced the table. "Well... I'll catch up with all of you soon! Alphys, I'll message you when I'm around next time" She held her hand, pinky and thumb extended, to her ear as if using a phone, and winked with her one good eye as she backed out of the store. Then she turned around and headed straight towards Pokute Palace. Before she knew it she was poking her head into the room where she had originally met Molly, but it looked like the girl wasn't around at the moment. So, she resorted to wandering the Palace corridors in hopes of finding Sylvia or someone who could tell her where she was. She really should ask her for a work phone number or something so she could reach her for times like these. RE: The usual people and unusual talks - W.D. Gaster - 11-27-2017 Gaster chuckled a bit afterwards. Of course, Undyne threatened his life before her departure, but to be honest, he sort of has grown numb to the concept of actually being injured. After all, would anyone stab at his body knowing that what they did would be a grave mistake? His body, well, look at him: just goopy in nature yet strangely stable; a hybrid of a former Void entity and a skeleton monster.
He just seems to take the situation as it is and try to roll with it. Much like his remark of a joke that he pulled off earlier that cause the majority of people to feel very uncomfortable and in fear of him. Ah that dark humor, it never fails, however, it wasn't long before he stopped and looked to Alphys after finishing a bite of his vanilla icecream. "If I may ask, what tree is Undyne speaking of, Alphys?" he asked curiously with his tone more down to earth. "I am still catching up with things and I would like to know what is going on around here." Though, if anything, any information would help after all and he's not a fan of being in the dark about it either. It's almost if he was looking at Alphys with an expectant answer from the smaller monster while not paying much attention to Moogie nor Sans in general. The attention was all on her.
RE: The usual people and unusual talks - Guu - 11-30-2017 "I don't know." said Alphys nervously, dreading the inevitable scolding. "A-as I stated, I don't live here, I'm only in town to see Undyne. I work out of the Vasty." "To be fair, we just got back from that mission." Stated Sans. "I see, so you can fill me in, Sans?" He said, he hadn't broken his gaze from alphys. "Well, there was this evil tree, it was turning the forest into evil wood demons. Guu, Undyne, me, and Ice Bear went there, took care of it." Finally, the doctor averted his gaze from the drake and looked at the other skeleton in the room "Wait, Ice Bear?" Gaster stumbled on his words a bit. "Like a bear made of ice? Never heard of that monster." "He's not from our universe apparently." He said with a chuckle. "You don't have to worry about him, he's chill." "Hmph." He responded, rubbing his chin. "So you work with the Princess?" "Eh, this was the first time." "What's her personality like? How's her thirst for power?" "I dunno, she hasn't done any advertising deals with the energy drinks yet." Suddenly, people outside started yelling, some in joy, some in fear. It was too far away and muddled to make out. The waitress suddenly got a text on her phone. "Oh, whattayaknow, Guu's back in town." She said, uncertain what reaction she should give to this news. "Well, having her in the palace again with bring more business here." "Ah! It appears I may have a chance to meet her myself!" Said Gaster intrigued, when suddenly a giant foot landed just outside, causing everyone nearby to jump. "What do you mean Molly's at school?" Guu complained into her tiny tiny cellphone. "I mean that she's at school!" Said Sylvia on the other end. "When did she start going to school?" "A month ago!" "But I thought she didn't need to because she's a prodigy or something!" "You still need to go to school when you're a prodigy!" "Darn, and I'm back in town and everything, good to make good on the promise I made." "Yeah, I noticed, why are you 50 feet tall?" "Oh, shoot," Guu responded plainly, looking herself over, "what an accident." "How do you accidentally grow 50 feet tall?" "Well, I thought I'd try a new look." "Shrink yourself down, now!" "Fine." Guu's body stretches out above and then snaps into her normal size. She presses her now normal sized phone back onto her ear. "Okay, I'm small now." "Yes, I saw that. Thank you." "Do I need to change out of the Crying Breakfast Friends t-shirt?" "Hmmm, nah, I doubt anyone would expect anything else from you." Guu shapeshifts her clothes to her normal outfit anyways. "So, since Molly is busy with school, anything I need to take care of right away?" "We have a new prime in town, the Gaster fellow." Explained Sylvia. "We've got Sans with him now, but maybe a chat with him will smoothen out that edge a bit. Or maybe it'll get him running." "Okay." Guu said, hanging up her phone before scanning for Sans in her immediate proximity, RE: The usual people and unusual talks - Sans - 12-24-2017 The gang of monsters pushed their way out of the diner and past the slowly increasing crowd of pokemon and other interesting creatures. It did not take long for them to notice the giant Princess Guu looming above the buildings like some kind of moon having come too close to the ground. The people around them murmured in a mixture of audible awe and uncertainty. Alphys wiped her reptilian hand across her forehead as sweat coursed down. Gaster merely stared, intrigued yet suspicious. Sans, for all his comic wit, stayed speechless. The stout skeleton couldn’t remove his gaze from the giant even as she shrunk down to a less intimidating size. Perhaps it was the stoic expression she always wore, or his previous observations of her abilities, but the sight of her large form sent sharper and sharper chills down his bony spine. Someone with powers so expansive and bizarre had no capacity to be human, could they? It was like being alive during an alien invasion, only you couldn’t tell if that was a good thing or a bad thing. All he knew, however, was that she resembled a human. More specificially, she resembled her. While he could not fully remember Gaster, he wasn’t going to stand there and watch another massacre. He grabbed Gaster’s hand and turned to drag him back into the diner. “Sans!” shit. He spun back around, a small sigh escaping from him as he and Gaster advanced towards the Princess. He gives a few glances in Gaster’s direction, noting the grim sense of determination in his expression as they approached. Upon reaching her, the small comic gave her a respectful bow. Guu curtsied back, remaining stoic even in the face of Gaster’s unmoving form. “your royalness.” Sans said, standing back up. “Sans,” she replied before turning towards Gaster, “Gaster.” “You know me, Princess?” He said, a soft fire in his unhinged eyes. “I am aware of you. Can’t say I recognize you from anywhere in particular.” “Figures,” Gaster responded, harrumphing, “no one is likely to, given my nature.” “You just look like a withered old skeleton to me.” “I am as withered as you are young.” An awkward silence formed between the two of them, contributed by Sans’ studious, uninvolved observations. “Be that as it may,” Guu said, “I must warn you not to cause trouble.” “Or?” “I’m sure someone of your intelligence does not need my answer.” A small smirk formed on the child’s face. “Unless you truly cannot figure it out for yourself?” Gaster’s eyes widened, pupils contracting with shocked anger. “Do you not know who I am?” “Uh, yeah? Nobody does, dude. What do you expect?” Sans couldn’t resist a chuckle. Not even Gaster’s controlling glare held him back. Gaster took a deep breath, holding himself proper. “Well, I was hoping to be treated with, if anything, something resembling seriousness. I suppose that is too much to ask from some backwater candy town.” A collective gasp that swarmed around the two from the crowd finally pushed Sans to action. He grabbed Gaster’s arm and started to pull him back towards the diner. RE: The usual people and unusual talks - W.D. Gaster - 12-25-2017 Gaster wasn't favorable of Sans pulling on his arm like some little child; of course, he removed his arm away from the smaller skeleton with a look of seriousness in his eyes. The motion annoyed him but then again, he was starting to reconsider that Guu is not exactly Human but something else, however her sassiness didn't help her case in winning his favor. It only drove him further away into trusting her.
When he returned inside the diner, he was silent. The thing was that he wasn't going to attack her out in public or anything like that but with being threatened by Undyne earlier, he was lucky that he didn't snap at her, however instead of saying anything else at the moment, he chose the path of remaining calm as much as that's tested. Sans had the sane option of pulling him out, Gaster still had much to desire. Of course, so far in the town, only one individual respected him since his appearance while the rest of the population either are unsettled of his presence or elsewise. So much for this being a decent meeting.. Afterwhile, he looked towards Sans' direction and spoke."I don't see why people would partake in treating an opinion of mine as some format of offense. I am merely speaking the truth of the circumstances given as of current. However, as for the Princess, she has a mouth on her, if anything comes from the experience, never had I been spoken in such a disrespectful manner." Of course, Gaster would be angry and whenever he was, he would keep going on and on with his rants that would only come off as 'I'm always right' speeches and so forth. In fact, that was part of his nature, well, a problematic part that he has in general even before his fall and that was why sometimes he would work alone to fix the problems. "It's interesting how it's first Alphys, then Undyne and finally you." he sighed before he regained composure himself, only to raise his arm across the lower part of his skull, with a hidden smile underneath. "I see how it is."
