July-September Monthly Accolades (until October 16th) - The Vision - 10-02-2017 Hi, I'm not Dark Link, so forgive me for this sacrilege, but I'll be running Accolades this month. The timing is a little off, admittedly, but nevertheless. Since we didn't do this for July and August, you can include that this month as well. If you remember what happened in July. I don't. I don't even remember what I was doing on this site last week. For those of you who are unaware, the Accolades involve nominating (and later, voting for) those who have outdone themselves in a particular area each month. For variety's sake, the categories for each month may be different. You have until October 10th to nominate your choices. After that, we will proceed to the voting phase where members will vote among the two individuals with the most nominations for each category. An exception to this is if someone manages to get 5+ more nominations than the runner-up, in which case that person becomes the winner by default. If you wish to participate, think of who stood out the most in a particular category this month and post your choice, along with a 2-3 sentence long explanation, in this thread. You are not barred from nominating your own characters/threads, nor do you have to fill out all the categories. The winners will become this month's "Community Stars". And what benefits does this bring? Here is an explanation, courtesy of Alex: (07-26-2016, 11:34 AM)Alex Wrote: As part of being voted as a Community Star/User of the Month (I use the terms interchangeable mainly because Community Star is less formal-sounding than User of the Month), these members gain a color (you must select this in your User CP) and access to the Omni-World R&D forum. In the past this was my pseudo-private forum, but it's now a place for myself and others to discuss the Omniverse. This is also the meeting place/brainstorming area for Story Aides and Story Guides, so for all intents and purposes, winning an accolade lets you become a pseudo-Story Aide for the duration of your reign. And the categories are: ‘Best’ Character – Which character has you engaged the most? ‘Best’ Writer – Which writer wowed you the most? Most Helpful – A staffer or a member who gave you amazing feedback on a story or was simply there to help you sort out some of your problems. Rising Star – Which up-and-coming member stands at the crème of the crop? (must have joined within the last month and a half or have less than 8000 OM) 'Best' Story – What story did you find most riveting/entertaining? Dark Data is excluded from the running. 'Best' NPC – What non-player character (can be a site, personal, or story NPC) entertained you the most (for whatever reason). Please note who the 'owner' of said NPC is, just in case I am not familiar with them. Purple Ribbon - Consider this a bonus category for nominating someone who, while they may not be the best and have all the twitter followers, you believe deserves to be recognized for what they bring the the Omniverse. (The winner must be a DIFFERENT person than last month's winner; the June winner was Alex) RE: July-September Monthly Accolades (until October 16th) - Desman Black - 10-02-2017 'Best' Story – Beach Filler Episode in Vasty deeps, A theard that despite it's open ended premise managed to feel like it's own storyline and not be there just for the sake of being there. 'Best' NPC- Bob B. Bob (Owned by Gaston) The charater over the top enough to become an easy source of comidic effect, yet down to earth enough to fit right in to the rest of the omniverse. (which now that I think about it doesn't requre very much but still) RE: July-September Monthly Accolades (until October 16th) - Ebonywood Hellscythe - 10-02-2017 ‘Best’ Character – Summer/Sonny: A storm spirit with a split mind. Shoving two dialogues in one head is hard to pull off, but he does it well. Summer's self-destructive offence and Sonny's weaponised defence mesh well together. Rising Star – Takanomiya Hijiri: Hasn't been here writing for much more than a week but during that time he's been fairly active. I haven't fully been following his posts, but what I've seen is good. Purple Ribbon - Blink/Captain Cold: He's taken up the reigns for writing some of the DD stuff and is starting to run a spooky mini-saga thing. Generally, I feel he's contributing a lot to the OV community. That's all I've got off the top of my head. RE: July-September Monthly Accolades (until October 16th) - PepsiYuuka - 10-02-2017 I'm just gonna casually nominate Clownpiece/Summer's Reimu for Best NPC, because to be honest she's been super fun to write with and as in our threads thus far. She adds a desperately needed down-to-earth perspective to our group of complete eccentrics. Also she beats me. I hope this will make her stop. RE: July-September Monthly Accolades (until October 16th) - Alexander Blakesley - 10-02-2017 Not expecting to win due to my lack of activity and posts compared to other new players. So I'm going to throw my nonexistent hat into this because of reasons. Best Character - Alexander Blakesley(Withdrawn) Rising Star - Alexander Blakesley (Withdrawn) RE: July-September Monthly Accolades (until October 16th) - Blink - 10-02-2017 ‘Best’ Character – Renji. Some of the character development he has done (and is currently going through) in Dark Data has been awesome. ‘Best’ Writer – Ebony Hellscythe. Couldn't handle a word count limit because she had too much awesome stuff to write, so she came to my house and threatened me at gunpoint. One of those statement isn't true. Most Helpful – The Vision 'Best' Story – Beach Thread! RE: July-September Monthly Accolades (until October 16th) - Jade Harley - 10-03-2017 Most Helpful - The Vision. He's been doing a lot of things in Move Approval, reanimated the Accolades, and finally brought the Moves wiki into being. Great work, dude, you're awesome! 'Best' Character - Renji. I feel like this character has been pretty consistently written, plus there's nothing quite like a good old-fashioned baddie (maybe not so old-fashioned, but whatevs). He's really freaking me out in Dark Data, is the point. 'Best' Writer - Hmm. How about the marvelously stupendous GASTON? That person's cool and kinda hilarious. Rising Star - Hijiri! As Ebony said, they've only just joined but are absolutely dominating in terms of word count production. Reminds me of my first few days on the Omniverse.... :') 'Best' Story - Ash and the Storyteller in the Ash vs. Ultramarine fight! I forgot the name of the thread (maybe Challenge Accepted?), but you know the one. You know. Purple Ribbon - Daniel. Another awesome staffer who's pulling his weight despite the devastating effects of university! Also Daniel's just really good at answering questions and slamming logic down. Australians, man. RE: July-September Monthly Accolades (until October 16th) - Takanomiya Hijiri - 10-04-2017 Most Helpful - The Vision. Working on that Moves Wiki seems like a lot of effort. 'Best' Character - Ebonywood Hellscythe. She may not be quite as cool as she thinks (and has this crazy idea that cats are better than rabbits), but is still probably my favourite character I've read about so far. 'Best' Story - T5: Challenge Accepted. Ash attempts to chat up a Space Marine. Pure gold. :xd: Disclaimer: I haven't had nearly as much time as I'd like to read everyone's stories and find out about all your characters, so I may well have missed someone/thing really awesome. If so... sorry 'bout that. RE: July-September Monthly Accolades (until October 16th) - 13-Jzall - 10-04-2017 Purple Ribbon: Blink because he is writing as nebula for one DD, participating in another, running a mini event and still having time to be one of the most active staff members. RE: July-September Monthly Accolades (until October 16th) - Tearen Wover - 10-04-2017 July through September huh? Gee wiz that's a lot of ground. ‘Best’ Character – I really feel that Gildarts has had the most development, post DA17. Following his arc from devastation, to listlessness, to bittersweet coping has made him very human, where previously he was just my favorite punching bag sort of this unapproachable paradigm. ‘Best’ Writer – Kelly MacAryn. Kelly continues to wow me with his ability to not only pain vivid scenery, but also NOT overdo it whenever a scene or action simply needs to progress. Restraint is just as important as effort, at his level, and he handles it with aplomb. 'Best' Story – An Imperial Influence by Kakashi and Minato. Continues to be my favorite sleeper hit of the Omniverse and has the potential to have a huge impact, depending on where they take it. 'Best' NPC – Molly wins my heart again, for simply having the biggest personality and depth out of all the site NPCs. Great things are in store for this girl, I have no doubt of that. Purple Ribbon - Cirno/Chara. The degree of development they've had since they first joined the site has been a treat to witness, and they deserve recognition for how far they've come. RE: July-September Monthly Accolades (until October 16th) - Blink - 10-09-2017 Bump. One week left. RE: July-September Monthly Accolades (until October 16th) - The Vision - 10-10-2017 Actually, it's the 10th where I'm standing, so I'm going to override Blink. Voting will last until October 18th. You may vote even if you hadn't made any nominations. If you have and a nominee you put forth is in the run-offs, you don't have to cast your vote for that specific category (unless you wish to cast your vote for the opponent instead); your nomination will automatically count as a vote for the nominee. In cases where a member rather than a specific character wins a category, the winner can (if they so desire) post in the Accolades thread which account should get the colour. That way, those members who already have a nifty colour for their master account have the option to display their well-earned pink colour with a different account. ‘Best’ Character – Summer/Sonny VS Alexander Blakesly VS Renji VS Ebonywood Hellscythe VS Gildarts ‘Best’ Writer – Ebonywood Hellscythe VS Gaston VS Kelly McAryn Rising Star – Alexander Blakesly VS Takanomiya Hijiri 'Best' Story – "Beach Filler Episode" by Beach Filler People (see below) VS "T5: Challenge Accepted" by Ash and Harlan Higgs and the Storyteller VS "An Imperial Influence" by Kakashi and Minato 'Best' NPC – Bob B. Bob (Gaston) VS Reimu (Clownpiece) VS Molly (????) Purple Ribbon - Blink VS Daniel VS Chara Most Helpful – The Vision apparently BEACH PEOPLE
Isabelle Larfleeze Hiro Protagonist Blink Cirno Gildarts Ice Bear Tearen Wover Clownpiece Usopp Dust Proto Man Harry Potter (now Heidi) Takezo (now Gunther Stein) Jak Mar Ash Desman Black
RE: July-September Monthly Accolades (until October 16th) - Tearen Wover - 10-10-2017 Molly is sort of a shared Secondary between Gildarts and Guu, but she was originally penned by Guu. RE: July-September Monthly Accolades (until October 16th) - Sam - 10-12-2017 (10-10-2017, 03:47 PM)Tearen Wover Wrote: Molly is sort of a shared Secondary between Gildarts and Guu, but she was originally penned by Guu. Incorrect, to my *recollection* the pig-tailed blonde hacking receptionist is my creation. She did spawn from guu's Ambrosian quest though. RE: July-September Monthly Accolades (until October 16th) - The Vision - 10-13-2017 Anyone like to vote? If you already nominated it's okay but, feel free to vote whenever. RE: July-September Monthly Accolades (until October 16th) - Tearen Wover - 10-13-2017 ‘Best’ Character – Gildarts ‘Best’ Writer – Kelly McAryn Rising Star – Takanomiya Hijiri 'Best' Story –"An Imperial Influence" by Kakashi and Minato 'Best' NPC – Molly Purple Ribbon - Chara RE: July-September Monthly Accolades (until October 16th) - Ash - 10-13-2017 Well I guess I have to Vote For Challenge Accepted By Me, Higgs, and the Storyteller. For obvious reason, and because I had a great deal of fun with that post. Purple Ribbon - Daniel, he's been working his tail feathers off and deserves recognition for that. Rising Star - Takanomiya Hijiri - BUNNY POWER!!! Also, because I'm digging his style. Best Writer - Gotta go with Ebony, Ebodane's pretty amazing. (Like.. Blew my mind how good.) And I'll Vote for Summer/Sonny as Best Character because he is pretty spify. =3 I unfotunately have been super busy with a lot of stuff, or I'd be able to vote for the rest. x3 RE: July-September Monthly Accolades (until October 16th) - Takanomiya Hijiri - 10-13-2017 ‘Best’ Character – Ebonywood Hellscythe. ‘Best’ Writer – Ebonywood Hellscythe. 'Best' Story – T5: Challenge Accepted" by Ash and Harlan Higgs and the Storyteller. 'Best' NPC – Bob B. Bob (Gaston). Purple Ribbon - Daniel. RE: July-September Monthly Accolades (until October 16th) - Alex - 10-13-2017 ‘Best’ Character – Renji ‘Best’ Writer – Kelly McAryn 'Best' Story – "An Imperial Influence" by Kakashi and Minato Purple Ribbon - Blink RE: July-September Monthly Accolades (until October 16th) - Ebonywood Hellscythe - 10-13-2017 To add to/confirm my votes: ‘Best’ Character – Summer/Sonny (I love Eb, but I nominated him and I'd feel guilty if I ditched him for her. And Summer/Sonny are awesome, even if they're obviously not as cool.) ‘Best’ Writer – [not voting] Rising Star – Takanomiya Hijiri 'Best' Story – "T5: Challenge Accepted" by Ash and Harlan Higgs and the Storyteller 'Best' NPC – Bob B. Bob (Gaston) Purple Ribbon - Blink |
