A Quest for Knowledge - Yukika Inoue - 08-08-2017

The air instantly changes as we step into the warm sun of Camelot. Contrary to my previous belief, this world did seem to have some distinct life to it. That, however, was without taking the Nexus into consideration or at least comparing it to this new universe, so to say. It was ripe with greenery and life as far as the eye could see. Plains of crops and dotted forests of trees stood in the distance, creating a peaceful ambiance around the two of us Pokemon.

I take a deep breath, taking in the scenery before moving on. It was truly magnificent. I never believed places like this could exist. Sinnoh is a cold region and much different than what lays before me. Birds chirp not from the gate and the ambient sound of some buzzing insects can be heard as well. My attention is only pulled away by the sound of Umbreon's soft voice.

"I think this is Camelot." She states her observation. "I remember seeing some people from here back in the Vasty Deeps, but not too often since the Empire is in control there."

'So, there are governing factions within the universes? I can see why that would be necessary now that you bring it to my attention.' My voice echoes soothingly around Eclipse's ears. 'Do you know what this is area is like? Can we expect trouble?'

'Most places in the Omniverse are relatively dangerous, but I can't offer much more insight than that. Sorry." She apologizes yet again for something that wasn't even her fault. It was obvious this Pokemon felt extremely inadequate compared to me. An absurd thought, really. That was like comparing man to God.

Nevertheless, I decided to ignore her mood, seeing as how she was still suffering from the loss of her friends back in the Vasty Deep. My eyes glow faintly as I examine our immediate surroundings. Nothing hostile near the portal to the Nexus was lurking, waiting for easy prey to sink their metaphorical or literal teeth into. I should probably be thankful that no one has tried to attack me, so far.

"What's your plan?" The Dark-type asks, looking off into the distance with me.

'I have no course of action beyond finding a quiet place to meditate and attune my psychic powers. This place will do nicely if it's as pleasant on the other side of the fence as it is behind it.' Although I say my goal is to acquire more power and knowledge, my thoughts linger on my ex-trainer. I know for a fact that the act in the Nexus was an insult to his stupid pride. He would not let it go, and if there was one thing I knew about that man, he'll find a way to repay me in full, or at least try. I fear that this could mean I'm placing my newly found friend in direct danger, but she has chosen to accompany me. I doubt she is as defenseless as I might think.

After admiring the view for another peaceful few seconds, we begin to move down the dirt path laid out before us. It's hard to tell with the innumerable hills and tree lines but seems the road could lead us to a large, stone city in the far distance. Whether or not that is in our benefit remains to be seen, as neither of us actually have useful information on this sub-universe. Still, I can't say I'm not having at least a little bit of fun. Through all the dark demeanor I have worn since I arrived in the Omniverse, I am excited to explore new lands and see new places. My only wish is that my original trainer was here with me so she could have the chance to see the amazing things that I'm seeing now. That was merely a happy thought, for what else comforts a lost soul more than their memories?

Eclipse had followed the Embrace Pokemon to the other side of the Nexus and while she hesitated at the Camelot gate she did go in. She moved through the gate of the new verse with her gold eyes shut tight to brace for whatever was on the other side.

When they were in Camelot she waited a few more moment before opening one eye to take in the surrounding area. To her surprise, the world was gorgeous instead of scary. The sun shined down on her dark fur unhindered. While it did not make the rings on her body react, the sun did warm her in the same way it did back home. She watched as the wind brushed the blades of grass gently, felt it rush through her short fur. She blinked for a moment, and then looked up at her companion. Apparently, the Umbreon had expected resistance as she took up the stance for a fight, but now she relaxed under Gardervoir's gaze.

After a quick conversation, the two began a long journey towards whatever the road leads them to.

Eclipse walked with her nose curiously towards the ground for the first few moments, sniffing at the newer scents in the area. It wasn't much different than the forest and plains that were present on her island. Yet everything also had an aged feel to it. Like the smell of an old tome, or aged whiskey, like the smell of a dusty room, or like an old leather chair. She looked up at her traveling companion who was taking in the scenery as well. "What do you look for in a place to meditate?" She asked curiously, wondering how she could help.

This place was vast and empty, only the butterflies that floated by on powerful wings and the chirping birds kept them company.

RE: A Quest for Knowledge - Yukika Inoue - 08-11-2017

The two of us shuffled through the dirt in silence. My mind was clouded with difficult new life decisions ahead of me that were complicated to deal with by myself. Before the Omniverse, I may have been a strong creature compared to most of my similar species. Pokemon were amazing creatures in my home world, but here may be different. I expect that I‘m just as powerful as any other of my kind in the Omniverse, Primes as were called.

My train of thought is interrupted abruptly by the sound of my companion's voice. She still seems a bit confused on what is that I need to do, or she just doesn't understand what meditation is.

"The best places to meditate would have to be those which are quiet and serene. Somewhere that you can relax your mind. I also wish to find a place I might be able to collect information about the Omniverse itself. You know what they say: Knowledge is its own reward." I say quietly, still observing the intricate scenery of the grassy plains. Nothing like that of the frigid temperatures of Sinnoh where I'm from. I recall of hearing about places like this, another region called Johto. It's said to be very beautiful in the autumn weather.

"Okay! I will keep an eye out for that then, whatever that is!" The midnight colored Pokemon replies, constantly craning her neck back and forth in search of such a place as if it could be spotted from a distance. Although my new friend seemed a bit of ditz, I can't help but enjoy her presence. She really seems to lighten the mood during a dark time in my life.

Ahead in the distance, I notice a silhouette of a pillar. Shadowed by the sun, but easily visible as large as it was. It reminded her of the giant building in Jubilife City that stood higher than most buildings throughout the entire Sinnoh region, only maybe slightly taller. This instantly piqued her interest.

"Come, let us investigate that structure in the distance. It looks different than most things in this universe. It could be important." I urge Umbreon to follow me, but instead, I end up doing the following. My hyperactive companion seems eager to discover what lies ahead. Either way, we both end up reaching the base of the stone structure, which has no significant entrance beyond a window a couple meters high. It looks like if we wish to investigate the interior of the building, we would have to climb.

"I have no idea how we can get up a verticle surface like that without specific supplies." I mention to my companion. She gives me a weird look.

"Can't you just summon what you need? Like, magic thing?" She asks.

"What do you mean?" My quiet glare of confusion is reassurance that I have no idea what she is talking about.

"I thought Primes had the ability to summon just about anything with Omnilium, that's what makes you guys so powerful. Secondaries can't do that." She explains as if I should know this like inborn knowledge.

"I would not have known that if you had not explained it. Here, allow me to try and make us a tall enough ladder to reach that window." With some hesitation and effort, I begin to focus my energy. At first, nothing really happens, I have no idea what I'm even trying to attempt of course, but after a few more seconds, my hands begin to glow with a pearlescent radiance. I'm easily astounded that I can actually feel the energy coursing through my body. It's oddly warm and soothing, like sitting next to a fireplace on cold winter morning. It takes several minutes, but I am able to create a wooden structure to help us up to the single opening in the structure. Using my telekinetic powers, I set it up carefully, but even still, it comes short of my target height, it seems I'll have to find a way to get us the rest of the way there.

"Do you have a plan Gardevoir?" Umbreon asks, looking up the verticle structure with her head all the way back.

"I think I might have an idea, it might be a bit of stretch though." I answer as I plant the wood into the ground carefully. "It's worth a shot, but might be a bit dangerous."

I begin to climb the ladder, with my quadripedal companion following below me, having much more trouble getting a hold on the rungs of the ladder.

RE: A Quest for Knowledge - Dust - 08-11-2017

Eclipse had sat down to watch the Prime work on whatever she saw fit to use to get up to the very tall building. She wanted to attempt to jump it but gauged that it was a bit out of her range. She wouldn't like to admit that to anyone but herself. She watched Gardevoir's miracle work and she held a solid looking ladder aloft in the air. The Umbreon curiously watched as she put it against the wall and approached her creation. The Dark-Type lifted herself from the soft ground and walked closely behind.

Gardevoir's dress floats in the wind as she climbed a few rungs, reminding Umbreon of the clouds in the sky of her verse.

She turned to the first rung and placed a paw on it. She was just big enough that the steps weren't comically out of reach, but for a creature of four legs, it would be hard regardless. She lifted her paws to the second, sinking her hidden claws into the wood as an attempt to make this easier as she planted the other two in the first.

Now the hard part.

The ladder adjusted to her weight as she lowered onto the back paws as much as the rings would allow her without slipping free of her clawed grip. Then with all her might from the awkward position, she jumped. Her back paws left the first step and found purchase on the second, her balance shifted uncomfortably, but Eclipse used her claws to push herself forward and up to catch the third rung with her claws once more. When the Psychic-Type looked back at her she gave a nervous smile, her floppy ears falling back. Be it pride or the threat of failure, Umbreon did not say anything.

She repeated this step-jump-step effort until they reached the near top. Where with a little struggle to see past the dress, Umbreon caught the gap in the ladder and the window. She frowned to herself and then tried to work out her own solution. "You can use me to get inside if you need." She offered, her shoulders looking more prominent now that the offer was out there.

'Let us try this first.' Gardevoir's soothing voice entered her head once more before she put into practice her idea from earlier.
