Switching: Pyrrha Nikos > Yang Xiao Long - Yukika Inoue - 03-17-2018 CHARACTER NAME: Yang Xiao Long CHARACTER SOURCE: RWBY(Vol 1-2) CHARACTER HISTORY: Yang Xiao Long is the blonde beauty of RWBY. A half-sister to Ruby Rose, her mother left her at a young age, same as her sister. Her main aspiration is to find her mother, or what happened to her. She was trained by Qrow, her hunter uncle. After training to potential, she found herself in Beacon Academy, where she would train to defend the world from the forces of Grimm. Though, Yang’s motives were different. Her time at Beacon was meant to hone her combat prowess to eventually find her mother, Raven. Still, she searches for her, unable to believe that Raven was dead. Yang entered the Omniverse after a food fight with a group of friends, where she was knocked so high in the air, she never came down.(This was just after the end of Volume 1) After falling unconscious in midair, she wound up before Omni himself. PERSONALITY Yang could be described as, by her own voice actor, “A person who would teach you to swim by pushing you in the water.” She is brash, relentless and reckless, however, it seems to work perfectly for her. That is, until she loses her cool. When she is overtaken, Yang will hardly switch tactics, if not even become even more reckless to the point of destroying the combat area in collateral. That being said, Yang is still the pun/fun loving huntress with a good heart, looking to do some good in the world while also finding her long lost mother in the process. PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: ![]() Aspects: Height: 1.73m(5’8) Weight: Roughly between 140-150 give or take 5lb. Eye color: Lilac, Red when angry Hair Color: Golden, burns when angry Handedness: Right Expert at Punching, and puns. STATS: ATK: 5 DEF: 3 SPD: 1 TEC: 1 PROFICIENCIES: Physical Strength; Ranged Proficiency(2000) POWERS: Master Super Jumping, Master Acrobat, Burst Movement(2000) MOVES: Ember Celica Required - Ranged; Physical Strength Optional - Super Jumping, Burst Movement Cost (600) The Ember Celica is wrist mounted shotgun gauntlet that, when idle, look like a pair of bracelets to unsuspecting foes. Those who make fun of such deadly weaponry will come to find themselves on the business end of Yang’s fists. The gauntlets not only function as decent protection from simple attacks, such as swords, but enhances the potential of the golden-beauty’s melee ability. And, if bludgeoning people with well crafted steel isn’t good enough, Yang can shoot shotgun bullets from them as well. Ember Celica functions well in close and long range in it’s gun form, as they are both useable as long as it is retracted. The gun holds twenty-four shots per gauntlet, adding up to forty-eight in total. When in close range, Yang can trigger a function on her gauntlets that allow her to fire upon force. When her shots connect with something, a shot will be fired. Though, these ‘shots’ are assume not to be bullets, but more likely those of ‘force’ similar to that of a Dragonball Ki-Blast. These shots are extremely simple, roughly about two feet in diameter. They travel completely straight at the speed of an arrow until they meet a target, but come weaker the further they travel. Around 100 feet is when they would begin to be half as strong as normal. They usually take Yang about three seconds to reload, and she always carries more belts of ammo in her pouch.(Around six, so three for each gun) A belt of ammo takes around twenty seconds to summon. Yang is seen constantly using Ember Celica to gain advantages in place of wasting ammo, such as feats like move quickly in short bursts, or jumping extremely high with numerous shots. Aura(Yang Version) Required - Physical Strength Cost (300) A constantly defensive barrier of manifested willpower. This ‘barrier’ protects it’s ‘wearer’ from direct damage in their stead. It is shown to be relatively weak but can recharge over time if they don’t take damage over sometime. Yang’s aura is shown to be one of the toughest in the series, rarely depleting, but has a slower regeneration than a normal hunter. The amazing feature of Yang’s aura comes from her semblance, as all semblances consume aura. Yang’s semblance seems to be reversed compared to others. Instead of using aura to activate a semblance, Yang’s semblance activates the more her aura is depleted, gradually gaining more power as she sustains more damage.(This is flavor unless used with a power-up) Even still, an aura can protect from cuts and bruises while active. The aura is strong enough to take ten hits from normal attacks(Equal to her defense) before depleting. While the aura is active, Yang cannot concentrate on other techniques that would require such attention(like using her semblance). Aura begins to recharge after ten seconds of not sustaining damage, but it recharges slowly. It takes ten minutes to recharge from fully being depleted, and cannot extend past the user’s body at all. Semblance - Tier One Power-Up requires Yang's Aura(depleted upon use), Physical Strength Cost (1000) Yang gets angry! When enraged enough, Yang activates her semblance, instantly dropping her defensive aura to gain a strength advantage. (Aura must be recharged after use as it will be completely consumed until so). Her eyes turn red and her hair seems to mock flames while this is active. Atk: +2 Def: 0 Spd: +2 Tec: +1 ![]() (Submiting this beforehand to get it out of the way) I confirm that I have read and agreed to the Rules of Conduct. RE: Switching: Pyrrha Nikos > Yang Xiao Long - Dane Regan - 03-19-2018 History: Roughly when in her canon was the food fight? A general reference to an episode or season, or and arc or main event should be good here. Physical Description: Can you add a rough height to go with your image? Ember Celica: All good. Aura(Yang Version): Roughly how strong is this? How much damage can it prevent before it runs out? You'll probably also need some drawbacks, otherwise it won't be very strong, since at the moment this basically lets you start fights with a free shield capable of blocking lighter hits. If you wanted to have something that looks the same way as this, you could probably just make it fodder and work it into an IC explanation for her DEF. RE: Switching: Pyrrha Nikos > Yang Xiao Long - Yukika Inoue - 03-22-2018 Updated aura with the necessary changes. While it would be simpler to make it flavor, I don't think that's how I want aura to play out for yang, as it is tied firmly to her semblance in it's power. Also added a power-up for approval to get it out of the way for when I buy it at level 2. Also can I get that name change fam?
RE: Switching: Pyrrha Nikos > Yang Xiao Long - Yukika Inoue - 03-25-2018 Givin’ this a bump for another staffer to approve, since Dane can’t actually reset my OM and name change please? :3 RE: Switching: Pyrrha Nikos > Yang Xiao Long - Trixie - 03-25-2018 Name: Yang Xiao Long Spent OM: 4,600 Consumed OM: 0 Proficiencies (2000): Physical Strength (1000), Ranged Proficiency (1000) Powers (2000/8000): Burst Movement (800), Super Jumping - Master (800), Master Acrobat (400) Moves (600): Ember Celica (600) Super Moves (0): Transformations (0): Assists (0): Items: Artefacts: Bases: Unlocks (0): Base stats: ATK: 5 DEF: 3 SPD: 1 TEC: 1 Log will be updated shortly. I'll ping Dane and let him know to follow up about the rest of your moves etc. RE: Switching: Pyrrha Nikos > Yang Xiao Long - Dane Regan - 03-26-2018 @Yang: Quote:Semblance - Tier One Power-Up This is approved, but you'll have to wait until you reach level 2 to get it. (Go ahead and link this post in your log when you want to get it). Quote:Aura(Yang Version) Firstly, I'm sorry for not noticing this sooner, but a body-wide shield will require area defence (unless Yang is under 3ft tall). I have a comment about the bolded section because it makes it look like while her aura is charged she can't use any concentration-demanding techniques. That's fine, but it limits her to basic attacks. I think it would probably be better for you if she only needed to concentrate on her aura when using it to block stuff (and not just when it's turned on but not actually doing anything). How would these work for potential rewrites? I've made additional edits with the second one to allow you to use it without area defence (and the second is actually a bit stronger because of the smaller protection area) but it won't help you with explosions. (if you want either of these, consider them approved, if not, just make the changes you want/need and I'll take a look) Area Defense:
Quote:Aura(Yang Version)
No Area Defense:
Quote:Aura(Yang Version)
RE: Switching: Pyrrha Nikos > Yang Xiao Long - Yukika Inoue - 04-13-2018 SO I REWATCHED SOME RWBY EPISODES REGARDING AURA AND IVE SHAMED MYSELF. Aura is, in fact, an activated ability, not a passive shield. One must activate it to absorb damage. So I will change that and hopefully that will make the move more convincing RE: Switching: Pyrrha Nikos > Yang Xiao Long - Dane Regan - 04-13-2018 Sure thing, just throw the move at me when you've got something you're happy with. RE: Switching: Pyrrha Nikos > Yang Xiao Long - Yukika Inoue - 04-15-2018 Aura(Yang Version) Required - Physical Strength, Area Defense Cost (300) An activated barrier of manifested willpower. This ‘barrier’ protects it’s ‘wearer’ from direct damage in their stead. Aura is always active, but it doesn't protect it's charge without being activated first. Instead of using aura to activate a semblance, Yang’s semblance activates the more her aura is depleted, gradually gaining more power as she sustains more damage.(This is flavor unless used with a power-up) Yang needs to activate her aura to benefit from it, regardless of the charge. After initially focusing on it, it takes a fraction of a second to take effect (about as long as it would take to quickly raise an arm a foot or two). So, while actively using it she can't concentrate on other techniques that would require such attention (like using her semblance) but can still use basic moves and attacks and move as normal. Her aura is able to protect her from cuts and bruises, but stronger strikes are able to temporarily punch through without depleting her aura (but will be a bit weakened). Typically, she can only take about ten solid hits from normal attacks (from people with an ATK equal to her DEF) before it breaks. While Aura takes no energy to maintain, Yang suffers a small amount of fatigue each time it's hit. Aura begins to recharge after ten seconds of not sustaining damage, but it recharges slowly. It takes ten minutes to recharge from fully being depleted, completely surrounds Yang, and cannot extend past the user’s body at all.
