Music and Storytelling - Sam - 07-27-2017 Anything you wanna talk about that revolves the two. Have any of you ever written a character or story based on a particular song? Bruce Dickinson tends to inspire me a lot with his lyrics alone and I'm considering making an NPC (possible Prime?) based on an IM song. There's others too, both mediums are storytelling but music can be either more simple or complex based on your perspective of it. This song THIS week: https://youtu.be/qTrUwO6xOEI And Christa was probably inspired on some level by the Trooper (same band) RE: Music and Storytelling - Ian Sylvester - 07-27-2017 I made my character off a genre, but not a particular song comes to mind RE: Music and Storytelling - Desman Black - 07-28-2017 I mean, I have 4 NPC secondaries that come from songs now so... expect a fair bit being inspired by the songs they come from >_> RE: Music and Storytelling - Sylvan Ravenhead - 07-28-2017 The character's theme is below. The inspiration for a part of background story and the second name.

I take a lot of inspiration from my vast playlist + songs from youtube. There is a story inspired by a particular song, but that is being added here after I finish it. @Sam. This wolf approves of your choice. amusdance:

RE: Music and Storytelling - Handsome Jack - 07-29-2017 I can't music and write. I turn on Youtube and I'll get sucked into Mario Maker. RE: Music and Storytelling - King Ghidorah - 07-29-2017 Kelly owes a lot, directly and indirectly, to Flogging Molly, Iron Maiden, The Offspring and Bruce Dickinson's solo career. I've also been known to take inspiration form Nightwish, Blind Guardian, Gamma Ray (they used to be my all-time favorite band), Judas Priest, Sabaton, and Battle Beast. Hell, I wrote a novella listening to various songs by Nightwish and Battle Beast on loop. ... and Parov Stellar. There is a special place in the narrative reserved for Electro-swing. Ghidorah doesn't have a strong musical component, though I have been known to listen to Clutch while writing him. RE: Music and Storytelling - Victor Wolfe - 07-29-2017 Lots of old wrestling themes for me, as I started writing on a wrestling site the basic character for Vic is still easier to tap into when I hear stuff like voices (Randy Orton's theme) any of stone colds themes, or the game by Motorhead. I actually started peicing together a writing play list at one point on youtube. Anime themes can be great too, Death Notes two openings come to mind, For actual bands though, bit of Iron Maiden, Beartooth, machinae supremacy, My Chemical Romance , Pantera, and when I need to get really Victorish Falling in Reverse always does the trick. RE: Music and Storytelling - Shu - 07-30-2017 It kinda depends on the mood I'm going for, to be honest. I've written with this character in the past and I mostly used Sonata Arctica and Thrice. Two Steps from Hell and Audiomachine are also pretty good for those grand moments you're trying to capture. Also made a character once entirely based around music from Estas Tonne. Kid Cudi has some good stuff too though just the first two albums, anything after the Man on the Moon II is very "meh" and doesn't capture the imagination enough for me. RE: Music and Storytelling - PepsiYuuka - 08-05-2017 Yuuka's kazamidori was partially inspired by Solo Buta-R's Flower Offering (&lyrics) in the later parts. I actually really like it the best of their Yuuka theme arranges when it comes to suiting her personality. |
