About pair characters and how to make them work? - Artoria Pendragon - 03-01-2018 So, I've been wondering how to make pair characters work, and am looking for some thoughts and ideas as well as suggestions from some of the higher ups. In specific, the ones I've been wondering would be the Drivers and Blades from the game Xenoblade Chronicles 2. What are they? They’re a fighting pair, akin to Trainer and their Pokemon. Differences: Unlike Pokemon, Blades are more comparable to people, than animals They have their own free will, think like humans etc. They also have emotions etc. As such they’re capable of acting independently and without commands. Blades are immortal. Unlike with Pokemon, the driver doesn’t just stand there, the Driver fights alongside their blade. About Drivers People with aptitude to awaken a core crystal. A single driver can possess multiple Blades. If the Driver dies, the Blade returns to its core crystal form. About Blades Are beings with powers & weapons. Sentient, intelligent, speak. Entirely comparable to humans, except immortal ‘n immensely powerful. Lend these powers and weapons to their drivers. Can operate independently without separate commanding from the Driver Could even be in an entirely different country, taking care of business without their Driver. Unlike pokemon, don’t revert back into balls or anything. they’re constantly there, supporting their Driver in battle with buffs, as well as their weapons and powers. Now, how would you do a Driver and their Blade, as a Prime in the Omniverse? Preferably so that: 1. It doesn’t rely on SP. 2. It stays true to how the system works. 3. Still capable of participating events without the whole character falling apart. [spoiler]In the image below a Driver and their Blade.
