Nice Effing Memories - Sam - 07-13-2017

Share some of your favorite memories.

Strangely enough one of my favorite memories that came to mind was the look on my friend's face when I visited her in college and we went to target and stuff and I ended up buying her household supplies, then carried them all the way up to her dorm by myself. I still have the pic she took of me in the hallway with me as the donkey, paper towels and several grocery bags in hand.

It don't think it was the fact that I did something nice for her (friends do that) and I know the whole deal of all kindness is a lie, it was kind of just that little thing where I didn't think too much of it at the time, but now I remember it being a big deal for her, which I guess and admit, in turn did make me feel special.

Ps if you want the picture I'll share for a bribe.

@Sam. Proposition to bribe or be bribed is a serious offense. You don't want to be persecuted for it, do you? So, lets say you share the picture, and I forget you ever mentioned bribes? :3

It is a blessing to have friend(s) for whom you are willing to do something without thinking much of what you do. And them not accepting it as something given but to actually be grateful. I think it is a great memory to share ^_^.

And this made me actually think on what is my own favorite one. Which is a good thing, since I rarely stop to think on memories or emotions or other such irrelevant things in my day to day life. At first I thought that one of mine would be connected to either getting my very own laptop or hi-fi player and earphones... Apparently it is not.
In 2014 I met a man in his 70s, though I could barely give him 50. It was in Moscow, a rather chilly second half of June. His name was Susumu Uehara, Japanese, and I was to be his interpreter for a 3-day event. Which also meant following him everywhere. I was pleasantly surprised to find him to be an easygoing, calm and extremely intelligent man. My favorite memory is hearing him sing. While we were in a car, standing in one of those infamous moscowian traffic jams, he sang Frank Sinatra and some of the more traditional Japanese songs. I don't actually remember the whole scene or songs, but I remember his colorful and lovely voice and slowly coming to understand why these songs were considered beautiful.
He passed away in December 2016. From a cold. Unexpectedly.
Cherish people and those little things they bring to your life. Don't be afraid to bring little things to their lives. Who knows, maybe sometime in the future someone will hold the memory of you singing as something dear?

If you are on a dark side and have cookies, I can barter with a picture.

The bartering could work. XD

Birth of my child. Watching an infant escape his/her mother's canal is both disgusting and beautiful. Probably the most powerful experience I've had in my life

I've had this window open for quite a while now. I can't think of anything from my childhood.

The first one that came to mind is back during our Chubbs days in 2009/2010. When we were in college me and Alex would talk on AIM. Well, I remember this one time he had snuck into the student center or something to get access to Wi Fi and was afraid that the cleaning people were going hunt him down and kill him. Fun times.

Oh, wow, I have a few.

When I was a teenager, I was a massive pothead, and that's how I met and became best friends with the guy who would eventually become my boyfriend (and who also shares one of my worst memories). He was a drummer, and him and his brother as well as some of their friends would have sessions a few times a week and I was able to sit in and watch/listen, and we were all blitzed out of our minds. We lived in the boonies, so there wasn't much else to do. I was totally in love with this guy, and eventually he figured it out and well, it was a pretty magical time for a while. Won't get much more into specifics or our falling out, but I ended up changing schools and was in a class with his girlfriend a few years later. He's got a good life with her now and a kid, just wish we could have remained friends.

Another one, when I first went to Florida with my friend Joey. His mom decided on an impromptu trip for a few weeks and let me tag along. It was shitty and amazing driving across the state eating $1 burgers and smoking a fuckload of cigarettes and just having fun.

Lastly, when I moved to florida and began dating Noah. The trip down was insanely scary and exciting, but once I was there, it was great. We arrived a little after midnight on new years, and meeting him was amazing. He wasn't at all like I expected, but it didn't take long to figure out this was the guy for me. He's still my BFF, and we're working our way to 9 years of marriage.
