Warframe - Kenpachi Zaraki - 10-20-2014

This is what I've been up to lately.

Basically you're a space ninja ('Tenno' in game) in a robotic suit. You go around the different planets and planetoids in our solar system fighting various races that want you dead for your sweet technology. In the process you acquire resources and credits that you can then use to build suits and weapons as well as mods that can be added to increase damage, shields, etc. Each suit (the titular Warframe) has different stats and abilities and the weapons range from katanas and bows to rocket launchers and giant lasers.

It's multiplayer (though you can solo if you choose the option before starting a mission) and players are grouped into squads via a matchmaking system. There's also a clan system and clans can build a Dojo (of course) where weapons can be researched, trades can occur and friendly duels can be had. There's a spot on every planet for PvP as well, if you're into that.

The game is free to play, though you can choose to give them money for the premium currency of Platinum (they start you with some too). Everything in game save for cosmetic things like color packs and alternate helmets is obtainable with enough time and credits, but there's the option to get things faster/easier if so desired. It's pretty cheap to get platinum if you want it; 1 platinum is roughly 7 cents but the more you buy the more gets bundled in, etc.

You can play it on PC and PS4 (and XBOX I think?). It's pretty fun and gets better as you get different warframes and weapons. The missions don't feel boring or repetitive as some games do and the creators are constantly adding content and random 'Alert' missions that give out rarer weapon blueprints and mods.

Anyway it's a fun little game. Free to pick up and play, you never have to drop a dime. In fact, I recommend not paying anything. It's way more satisfying to earn things with time and effort. If you play PC, look me up. My handle is 'Smarm'.

EDIT: There's more info on the site (there's more to it than I could think of) and videos on Youtube if you want to see gameplay)

Re: Warframe - Cloud Strife - 10-20-2014

I have played this before, it was pretty fun, but haven't played recently

Re: Warframe - Kenpachi Zaraki - 10-25-2014

There was an update today that I download.

They've implemented fighting...wait for it...

IN SPACE.

I haven't built the thinger to do it yet, but I'm excited about jet-packing around and kicking ass in the unforgiving vacuum of space. There's also a new 'frame that can warp enemies into void pockets but spacefighting it more noteworthy.

Re: Warframe - Omni - 10-26-2014

Hnnnngh. Gonna have to redownload this once I get my second hard drive set up.

Re: Warframe - Kenpachi Zaraki - 10-27-2014

Let me know when you do. We can fly around on mechanical dragonfly wings together.

Re: Warframe - Cloud Strife - 11-18-2014

Add me on Warframe, I'm pretty sure I'm called Nyeseth

Re: Warframe - Kenpachi Zaraki - 06-02-2015

Dunno how I missed your post, Ed. Sent you an invite if you still play.

Edit: I'm 'Smarm'.

Re: Warframe - Omni - 08-01-2015

You guys wanna make an Omniverse dojo? If not I'll probably just be making a solo dojo under the name 'The Omniverse' Tongue Right now it just has a hallway.

Helixagon's the name.

Re: Warframe - Makoto Yuki - 08-01-2015

Wow, I haven't played Warframe in forever! I'd have to re-download it and try to remember how to play effectively, but I'm sure I was a decent enough player, sadly nowhere near the top players.

I remember I had pretty decent gear though, a couple of prime frames and some prime weapons if I remember correctly. And yes I had the space flight thingy XD

Re: Warframe - Ruby Rose - 08-01-2015

I would play... But my PC's messed up so I only have my PS4 version...

I have a PS4 and do intend to download it, put I have been putting it off because I was intimidated by the size of the update file...

I'd definitely join in on an Omniverse Dojo. I sent you a friend thing too.

There was a massive update on like 8/1 that added a bunch of stuff if anyone is currently on the fence. Parkour was reworked (read: MASSIVELY IMPROVED), as well as shotguns being buffed and Frost being overhauled. They also made Archwings submersible to allow fighting underwater. The obligatory new 'Frame is also really cool.

Re: Warframe - Okor - 08-10-2015

I'll patch it tonight, and then I'll track you down.

Re: Warframe - Jim Raynor - 08-11-2015

I've just started playing this. Pretty hooked. I'd be up for joining the Omniverse, especially since you seem to need to be in one to trade.

Re: Warframe - The Dreamer - 08-11-2015

I gotta take another look at this

How beastly of a computer do I need to play this? Cause I got the next upgrade above toaster computer

So I downloaded. Runs well enough to play. I'm thinking of whether to use Keyboard or Controller (I've never used a controller before but Keyboard is pretty bad). And I chose Excalibur to start. Seem weird that you dont get all three starting ones for free at some point. It said Excalibur was good for new players, so I picked it, but now I have to buy the others with $$$?

Oh, also, My name is TachyonBlade. Hit me up.

I'd recommend keyboard and mouse, but that's just personal preference. It's way easier to aim in my experience. Excalibur is the best choice I'd say, especially since the rework. His 4th ability is pretty awesome. The other two starters can be harder to start out with since they are more support themed and have very little armor whereas Excalibur is kinda a tank.

There's no need to buy the other frames with real money (though you can if you want). Volt components are obtained through research in the Clan Dojo and Mag components are dropped by the boss of Mars.

Edit: Also added you and Okor.

Re: Warframe - Omni - 08-13-2015

I know he is common but I also agree that Excalibur is the best first choice as you get to get used to melee, then later you can unlock some mage types. He's also really good, not exactly a tank but definitely tanky enough to hold his own. Just a good all round frame with an awesome theme (energy swords!).

I've now unlocked Saryn and Volt and having a lot of fun with them.

Speaking of unlocking others, another good reason is that Excalibur's parts blueprints are on the very last planet you get access to, Pluto. Mag is really easy to unlock early. Volt you need to join a clan, and you have to pay for the blueprints so you can't just get them off a boss. Was difficult but I really wanted him (love lightning).

I joined a random clan because it turns out that forma take a huge amount of grinding to unlock, and I wanted Volt. But maybe down the line if enough people are playing regularly we can make this clan real.

Re: Warframe - Kenpachi Zaraki - 08-13-2015

Agreed, if you're looking for a tank I'd aim for Rhino (Valkyr is also good). He's very easy to obtain as well, the boss of the second planet drops him and it's not too hard. With the 3rd highest armor though, Excalibur is excellent for soloing. I chose Volt to start with and tried to go on my own...it wasn't fun. Haha

I've had the most fun with Nova and Trinity, but support is my play style.
