Tale of a Pup: Part Time at Retail - Isabelle - 07-06-2017

Quote:Continued from Tale of a Pup: In the Dog House

It was the fresh smell of salt and seaweed that hit her first, then it was the sound of crashing waves.

The first thing she saw was the gold, it filled the sky, and continued to the water below. She spent way too much time underground, she lost track of the actual time. It was sunset, the end of a day in the Vasty.

She couldn’t remember the last time she got to enjoy a sunset, back home she would usually be at work when it happened, pounding away at the mountains of paperwork that towered over her on her desk.

As much as she wanted to soak it all in, she knew she only had moments of sunlight left, she had to get her bearings, and fast.

She was standing on a boardwalk that was suspended over a beach and some of the ocean dozens of feet in the air. To her left, extending out into the sea was an entire mini theme park, right there in the docks, complete with rollercoaster, ferris wheel, and tea cup ride.

To her right was where the boardwalk ends. There’s a couple of stairways leading down to the beach, but there was also a bridge that extends into the top of a nearby hill. From the looks of it, it lead to more of the city.

She looked down at the beach. Eventually, the sand gave way to a concrete road that separates the natural world and the city.

She noticed the road along the beach was much more lit, so she chose to go down the stairs.

Walking down the concrete path which was lit exclusively by street lights, she saw the long line of colorfully decorated shops that formed a row down the lane. While they were closed, she could imagine them selling t-shirts, ice cream, maybe some of them even sold food! She could swear some of them had a bar and stool for eating meals off of. That must of been the purpose.

The sun was now long gone, she only had the artificial lighting to guide her. However, a few hundred feet into her walk, she saw a sign.

“Beachside Inn! The closest bastion of comfort by the beach!” It said, it sat on top of the building, lit in neon lights. It looked taller than the buildings surrounding it, with some on the top floors clearly penthouse suites.

Before walking any further, she took some time to summon some cash. Coins. She read that raw Omnilium coins were the currency of this world. As soon as she had a large bag full, she stuffed it in her pocket and headed for the hotel.

“What could I get for you mademoiselle?” A man finely dressed to a T, his hair and mustache were perfection, stood across from one of the receptionist’s desks. Izzy almost felt incompetent just because she could only pull off a bun.

The lobby itself was chaos. The perfect pristine carpets, the chandeliers that seem to sprout from the ceiling every fifty feet or so. And yet despite that, she could see humans dressed in jean shorts, t-shirts, she could even see men in tank tops! It was like the line between the rich and poor never existed!

“Mademoiselle?” He asked again.

“My apologies, just a tad intimidated.” She said nervously. “I’d like to rent a room.”

“What kind of room are you looking for? We’ve had a number of cancellations recently. With DA ending so early, no one has time for a vacation anymore apparently, or at least the business owners the frequent this establishment. Hahaha.”

Isabelle wasn’t sure if that was supposed to be a joke, so she laughed along anyways. Considering the look he gave, it may not have been very convincing, or human for that matter.

“Well yes. What I mean is the sky’s the limit!”

“Well, run me down what you have, then we can discuss what’s in my price range.”

“Well, we have the standard, kitchen, twin beds, bathroom, tv. We have a Standard+ which is the same package but with a view of the ocean. We also have Standard and Standard+ plans with queen-sized bed.”

“Ooh!” She liked spacious beds, such a luxury. You could roll around in them!

“We have the deluxe, a full on balcony along with full access to the hotel’s services at no cost, this option is at much steeper price of course. Queen sized option for that, too.

“And finally, the penthouse suite. We have one open surprisingly, the billionaire that checked in for the next two weeks had to leave on emergency, something about ‘getting elected to public office on short notice.’ Of course, wouldn’t expect that to be in your price range.

“Speaking of which, how much are you looking pay?”

She pulled out a giant bag full of money and dropped it on the counter, it pours over in front of the man who just glares down at it, bewildered to have that much money not transferred by plastic.

“How much will that get me?”

Next thing she knows, she’s riding the elevator all the way up. She had to activate it with a special key the hotel gave her. They told her it would take her directly to her room, but she didn’t believe it until the doors opened and she saw an entire giant living space devoted to her.

It was bigger than most houses! Heck, it was bigger than her own house in the Ashen Steppes! With a fully functioning kitchen, a gigantic king-sized bed a gigantic bathroom with jacuzzi tub. But the best thing of all, something her house could never provide, was a view, oh my gosh the view, spanning the entire beach! And even spanning around to look at the city behind her. It was nothing like she imagined.

She couldn’t imagine in a million years having a place like this no less her own lifetime.

“This… is… INCREDIBLE!” She screamed in giddiness as she tossed herself into her king sized water bed.

Tale of a Pup: Part Time at Retail [M] - Isabelle - 07-07-2017

However, an hour or so into her stay there and that same feeling cropped up again, that same feeling loneliness. What was the point of having a penthouse suite if you’re the only one who could enjoy it? Even rich people at least had their groupies to share their space with. I mean, after you built your own house inside an underground geode it’s difficult to stay impressed at prime real estate alone.

As soon as the novelty died down, she was back on her phone, perusing google searches. She was skimming through a list of all the local businesses that are open late. She figured she could do some shopping at least, or just go anywhere there might be people, socialize or something.

One business title caught her attention though.

“Retail?” She said, reading it out loud.

She remembered there was a store called called Re-Tail back in her town, a cute little pawn shop run by a pair of spunky Alpacas. Could it possibly be the same store? That would be an incredible coincidence.

While it wasn’t the mayor, she could use a little bit of nostalgia, a little bit of familiarity. She hoped it’s even run by the same people. Heck, even just any animal kind, she just wanted something she can recognize because she’s been in a sea of strangers since she arrived in this crazy world.

She set the gps on her phone and took to the streets, throwing out her motorcycle before driving out in the city roads. She imagined a quaint little shop selling furniture and home goods, and friendly service from a couple that love each other madly.

ReTail, it was an animal-person based strip joint in a seedy part of town. Because of course it was.

She grunted angrily, it felt like these sorts of places follow her no matter where she goes. She almost liked the Ashen Steppes the most because it was the only place so far she hasn’t encountered a strip club! She didn’t want to fall down the spiralling staircase that was her emotions attached to places like this, so she revved up her motor in preparation to leave and find some place else.

But, before she could, she spotted something in the corner of her eye. Lined along side the big double doors was a venue of posters, each one advertising a single girl showing that night. One of them was a blue cat with white tips on her paws and ears, and splash of dark blue hair on her head. It couldn’t be who she thought it was, but the resemblance was unmistakable.

“Rosie?” Her eyes widened, she was biting her lip.

She was a cat from her village, she could remember quite vividly the little ball of sunshine she was. She couldn’t even imagine her working a horrid place like this. Even though the two of them weren’t super close, she had to save her!

She pocketed her motorcycle and marched on towards the doors. She was immediately blocked by an arm belonging to a suited man standing about twice her size.

“Now hold on missy, you’re going to have to wait in line like everyone else!”

Isabelle, stressing the possible consequences of waiting, yanked out a bunch of coins and held it up to the man.

“Please, I need to see Rosie!” She cried out.

The man looked over the coins and then looked over her. He scooped up the money from her paws and grinned at her.

“You must be one thirsty little canine! Come inside then!” He said, chuckling and shaking his head.

Izzy didn’t want to argue with him on why he brought up alleged dehydration in all this. Instead, she walked inside.

“Yo! Dooby! Set up this bitch with Rosie! She’s paid up!” Called out the bouncer from the door.

Izzy didn’t want to argue how that was her kind’s word and not to be used casually, she didn’t have the time.

A blonde haired human girl in a white dress guided Isabelle by the shoulders.

“I’m surprised! I’m not used to receiving girl customers!” She said with a smile.

“What? Custo-”

“Oh, I know I know, you want to be discreet about it. Not another word!”

She moved ahead of Izzy, taking her paw and pulling her up a small flight of stairs onto a stage, and she lightly nudged the dog into a seat that was positioned at the end of a long stretch, something like a fashion runway but poles were interspersed along the path. Men of various shapes, sizes, and fashions were waiting behind the stage.

“Now you just relax, the girls will be out to entertain you shortly!”

Izzy felt nervous the first time the girl took her shoulders, but it was impalpable at this point.

“Wh-what is uh...” But the hostess that brought her on stage was already walking away, heading for the bar to collect a tray of drinks.

Suddenly, the stage went dark, colored spotlights flickered on and focused on the stage.

The music plays.

RE: Tale of a Pup: Part Time at Retail - Isabelle - 07-08-2017

The curtain at the end of the runway flew open and the crowd of men go absolutely nuts. As the fog cleared the three silhouettes became visible, and her jaw dropped. She could feel the blood immediately rushing to her face.

Three girls stood there in sexy lingerie, two of them were bunnies, one milk white the other was brown, but in the middle, in lacy white underwear and gloves, was Rosie.

“Rosie?!?!” She Cried out, but her voice drowned in the sea of cat calls.

The three began to strut across the runway. Rosie’s gaze was fixed on Isabelle, that sly “come hither” stare was enough to make Isabelle start to sweating.

The pack break off. The two bunnies gave their attention to the crowds on each side, but the blue cat never broke her path, she kept approaching the dog, who was red as a tomato by now.

Just before reaching Izzy, she grabbed onto the pole nearest to the seat and started to spin, continually looking at her to signify who it was for. In a feat of flexibility and athleticism, she managed to flip herself midspin, hanging upside on the pole. She shot izzy a mischievous grin.

She slid back down from the pole and approached the nervous pup slowly.

Isabelle was so conflicted; on one angle, this was Rosie she was watching, this was the bubbly ray of sunshine that was always there to brighten the day! And now she was doing a dance for her for money. Love and lust are not things to be bought! She knew this! She raised to know this! And the very thing she was always afraid she’d wind up doing out of desperation was now her friend’s fate! In her head, this was wrong is so many ways.

But at the same time, it was difficult to resist looking away. She was rubbing her legs together, not sure what to do with the pent up… um… energy.

But little did she know, it was going to get a whole lot worse.

Rosie climbed into Isabelle’s lap, the smell of lavender perfume mixed with whatever alcohol she was having that night was intoxicating. She wrapped her paws around her as she waved her body, hovering over the already in heat dog.

“Rosie...” She said, looking into the cat’s eyes.

But then she flipped over and laid herself gently into the seat of Isabelle’s floral summer dress, rubbing her tush against her lap. The warmth of her body felt so good, she started to hyperventilate again. She didn’t even realize anymore that she we was essentially receiving a lap dance from the girl she was trying to save from having to do things like this.

But, as she was flipping over to dance in front of her, she misplaced a knee and slipped, toppling out of the chair and onto the floor in front of her.

The music stops. The people in the crowd and even the other performers were looking around to see what had occurred to halt the show, and then all eyes were on the blue cat on the floor, who moaned in pain.

“Rosie! Are you okay?” She cried out?

“Yah, elk bey fiiiine.” She said in response as she attempted to push herself up to a sitting position.

Suddenly, a man in jeans and a white tank appeared from Isabelle’s left and suddenly kicked Rosie in the side with his large boot, causing her to topple down mini-flight of stairs.

“How dare you get drunk on the job again! You useless feline!”

“What are you doing?” Yelled out Isabelle, not even looking away at Rosie who was still lying on the ground, just moaning in pain.

The man turned to the dog and bowed.

“I apologize, we can get you another girl if you want.” His expression rapidly changed back to disgust as he turned back to Rosie. “I want her out of here! And I don’t want her to come back until she learns some restraint!”

Two large men in security t-shirts show up and grab Rosie by the arms and drag her out the front door.

“Rosie!” Cried out Isabelle.

She leapt out of her seat and ran for the door, scooching passed the two guards as they were returning inside.

By the time she was outside, she didn’t see the cat on the ground, she was already on her feet, walking aimlessly down the road, painfully holding the bruise that was caused by the kick. She was wandering so slow, it didn’t take long for Isabelle to catch up and wrap an arm around her.

“Come on Rosie, let’s get you somewhere safe.”

“Who-who ish this?” Asked the blue cat.

“It’s Isabelle, you remember me right?”

Rosie processed for a moment, before her face flashed for a second of clarity, before returning to a sickened dizzy state.

“Ishabelle? That really… yooooouuuu?” She said as she nearly toppled over walking.

Isabelle wound up carrying her all the way to her hotel. She could only imagine how much an ungodly hour it was when she finally arrived there, she honestly never check. She managed to get a bucket from the staff and went up to her suite where she lay the poor kitty down on the waterbed.

“Ishabelle, I always thought yous was cute!” Said Rosie.

“That’s nice.” Said Isabelle. She knew from her days of accounting in strip joints that you should really take what’s said while drunk with a grain of salt.

“Ishabelle, fuck me! Fuck me hard!” She cried out, rubbing her legs together in excitement as a grin spread across her face.

She ignored the offer and rolled Rosie onto her belly, laying her head off to the side of the bed. She placed the bucket on the floor below her face.

“Ahhh, thatsh da good shtuff.” She said randomly. Amazingly, the cat conked out from there.

With her friend safe and sound, Isabelle covered her up in a blanket. Then she took to the bathroom, to um… release the pent up energy from earlier that night.

RE: Tale of a Pup: Part Time at Retail - Isabelle - 07-08-2017

After Isabelle spent way too long in the bathtub, she went down to the 24 hour pharmacy down the street that her phone pointed out to her. She asked the late-night clerk who directed her towards a hangover cure, the Alchemist’s Friend, and bought a vial. She also purchased some sugar coated donuts and milk for breakfast and some paper plates.

With a bag full of groceries, she rode back through the night sea air and went back to her hotel room. She put away her purchases and made herself cozy on the couch, eager to get some shut eye after a very eventful day.

She awoke to hearing her house guest quietly moaning. Isabelle rubbed the sand out of her eyes and climbed to her feet. She grabbed the vial and walked the expanse of the gigantic hotel room towards the bed.

Rosie was squirming around, wriggling in place with her paws over her eyes.

“Raaaaawr, it’s so bright! It’s so bright!”

Isabelle moved to the gigantic room sized windows and scanned around. She spotted a giant button that read “to lower/raise curtains.” Smashing it with a paw caused a ton of them to drop in unison, causing her to topple backwards onto the bed, nearly knocking off Rosie.

The sudden air time knocked her from her senses a bit. She blinked her as she looked around confused.

Izzy crawled over to her and propped her up with one paw. She pulled off the cork with her teeth and held up the vial to her mouth.

“Drink this, it’ll help with your hangover.”

It took her a few seconds to process, but she eventually grabbed the glass container and chugged it like it was a soda. As she pulled away, she let out a big breath.

“Ahhh, thank you beautiful stranger! My head still hurts though.”

“It’s going to take a minute.” She assured her. “Also, I’m Isabelle.”

“Oh?” She said drowsily while her head still span. “I used to know a-”

Suddenly her eyes widened as Izzy’s eyes met her’s. Her mouth dropped agape at the sudden appearance of someone in her past, but it quickly morphed into a big ol’ smile. She leapt forward and gave the pup a big ol’ bear hug.

“Isabelle! Oh my gosh it’s so good to see you!” She cried out gleefully before pulling back a bit so she can express her excitement with her arms. “I’m so glad! I hadn’t seen anyone from the village since I came here! I thought I was the only one! And luck would have it I would run into one of the best!”

She nuzzled the back of her paw as she clasped them together.

“Oh this meeting must have been fated..”

“Well, I’m quite glad to see you, too!” She said, blushing at being called one of the best.

“Hey Izzy...” she began, concern in her voice. “Why am I in my underwear? Did… did something happen between us?”

“No!” Isabelle backed away a few inches. “You were thrown out at the club, you were drunk, so I brought you here to recover. That’s all that happened!”

“Oh yeah, I remember that! Yeah, the bugle boys must have spiked my drink again. They know I talk dirty when I’m drunk so they like doing it. I always get blamed for it, it’s really annoying.”

Well, that explains a number of things.

“And then I…” She thought for a moment before her eyes shot open. “Lap dance...”

“Uh! Well, yes, but it was an accident. I mean,” she thought her words carefully as Rosie watched her, head cocked to one side. “I saw you on the posters outside, so I asked the bouncer if I could talk to you after bribing him, and I think he mistook what I was asking for...”

“Ah! I see!” She smiled. “Well, I don’t mind! You’ve done so much for my town, I can’t imagine someone else who would have deserved it more! I’ll just take it as a compliment that you enjoyed it so much!”

“How did you… I mean, what makes you think I enjoyed it?” Isabelle said nudging away a bit more, but Rosie moved in close and slyly looked into her eyes.

“Because no client that’s ever had that look on their face while I was doing my job, ever went on to say they were dissatisfied.” She said in a deeper voice.

Isabelle’s face was already beet red.

“Let me go prepare breakfast!” The pup said as she retreated to the kitchen to prepare the donuts from the night before.

Rosie chuckled at her embarrassment.

“I think I have the day off! Maybe as thanks for taking care of me, we can go to the beach!” She said as she got out the water bed. “I’ve been itching for a beach day!”

“That would be wonderful actually!” Izzy responded, not just glad at the change of subject; it would actually solve her recent loneliness issues. It was a little weird to have a platonic day at the beach with the person you just got a lap dance from the night before, but beggars can’t be choosers.

“Hey, by the way. Where are we? Is this your house?” Rosie said, finally noticing her surroundings. It was three times bigger than her apartment.

“Uh… Hotel room.” She said, a little anxious to reveal how much she splurged on this place.

“What? It’s way too big for a hotel room...” She said as she approached the window to take a peek, accidentally bumping into the curtain button.

The force of all the covers coming up at onces sent Rosie flying onto the bad. When she scrambled onto her back again, her eyes widened at the giant panoramic view of the beach that displayed before her.

“Isabelle!” She cried out in surprise, judging from the location from the beach and how high up they are, it didn’t take to long to put it together. “YOU HAVE A PENTHOUSE SUITE IN THE BEACHSIDE?”

RE: Tale of a Pup: Part Time at Retail - Isabelle - 07-09-2017

Quote:Isabelle and Rosie were building a Sandcastle together. The blue cat wiped the sweat from her brow as she put in the final tower.

“Ah! My kingdom is finally complete!” She said with a smile. “Now I shall rule over all this land and we shall call it... ‘this land!’”

“I think it should be called your grave!” Said Isabelle in a nasally voice.

“Ah! Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!”

“Mine is an evil land, now die!”

Isabelle leapt forward and tackled Rosie, the two of them falling into the castle, toppling it down the middle. The pair laughed their asses off while holding each other for a moment. They finally got control of themselves as they climbed back up onto their feet.

“Hahahaha, so much for the hahaha kingdom!” Said Rosie, still chortling. “Haha I guess if it can’t withstand the weight of our bodies, it’s not protecting us from the Huns!”

The pair laughed for another two minutes until they light-headedly stumble out of the broken structure, brushing the sand out of their fur with their paws.

The two stand outside the now ruined castle and sigh cheerfully.

“It’s a shame, but it was fun building it!”

Suddenly, izzy had a flash of inspiration.

“Hold on!” She called out as she clasped her paws together.

Soon, that ball of rainbow colored light appeared in front of her which caused Rosie to wriggle in excitement. In a few minutes, it encompassed the sandcastle and fully repaired it. It even now had little touches, like little sand flags, more windows and doors, tapestries, little statues of Rosie, and a sign out in front that read “Rosie’s Castle.”

The cat inspected it thoroughly, her smile getting wider with each second. Eventually, she ran up to Isabelle and hugged her.

“I LOVE IT! Oh my god! Thank you Isabelle!” She yelled out. “It’s perfect!”

“Well, not like it took me much to make...” She said, averting her eyes, but still blushing and smiling from the appreciation.

Rosie pulled away from the hug to look her in the eyes.

“But even if Omni provided the magic, the thought was all you, and I much appreciate it!”

Isabelle thought on it for a moment, Rosie was right, she did need to give herself a little more credit.

She smiled back to her cat companion.

“Wanna to get some Ice cream?” She asked.

“Yes! Let’s!” She said gleefully as she grabbed Izzy’s paw and pulled her along to the ice cream shop.

Soon after, a little boy in swim shorts saw the sandcastle. He smiled mischievously at the sight of it. He took a running start and leapt into it at full speed.

His chest hit the top of one of the walls, but it refused to give, knocking the wind out of him. He slid down onto the sand at the foot, coughing up a lung.

After a second, of getting himself back together, he felt the surface of the castle. Hard, as if it were made of stone.

“Huh?” He exclaimed, puzzled.

RE: Tale of a Pup: Part Time at Retail - Isabelle - 07-13-2017

Quote:The pair sat at a park bench. Rosie lapped at her ice cream, her course tongue breaking up big chunks of her bright orange frozen treat. Izzy ate her’s slow, mostly watching her companion’s excessive habits.

“You know, we left for the beach after breakfast.” Isabelle said, having a brief revelation. “We’re eating Ice Cream before lunch.”

Rosie took a moment away from her Ice cream to respond.

“Well, it was that orange elephant’s fault for selling so early!”

The pair had a brief chortle at the comment. As Rosie reached the halfway point of her dessert is when she broke the silence.

“It’s amazing you’re a prime Isabelle!” She exclaimed for take another large lick full. “But I guess out of all of us, you made the most sense for Omni to pick!”

“Oh, heh.” She blushed at the compliment. “But really, I still don’t understand why he picked me specifically.”

“Don’t sell yourself so short Izzy!” She started. “I mean, you were always the hardest working in the whole town. You’re the reason the town held together so well, not even sure how it held together so long before you showed up!”

Izzy was red like a cherry. She wasn’t used to getting so much praise for her efforts.

“But what about the mayor?” She retorted. “I mean he works hard too!”

Rosie nearly choked on her ice cream as she burst out laughing.

“Oh come on! We can’t be thinking about the same lazy oaf!”

And in an instant, Isabelle went flush.

She didn’t consider herself a violent person, but at no time before was it so difficult to hold back a slap. Instead, she focused on her ice cream, and repeated to herself that the mayor wouldn’t have wanted her to strike someone over an opinion.

But then Rosie made the unfortunate mistake of continuing.

“Seriously though Izzy, he’s the reason you had to work so hard. Don’t give him so much credit.” She said, then it transitioned into a laugh. “I mean, what he do, fish all day while leaving all the paperwork to you? Hahahaha-”

Isabelle’s paw struck her in the back of the head, causing her cone to fly out of her grasp in surprise. She immediately grasped her noggin in pain as she turned to face her attacker.

“Isabelle what the heck?” She yelled, but her eyes met a tear soaked face of fury, another paw upraised to strike again. Rosie immediately changed her tune.

“Look, I’m sorry Isabelle, I didn’t know it meant so much to you.”

“He does!” She yelled out, her voice slightly hoarse as tears continue to flow down her face.

Rosie reached over to wipe her tears with her paw, leaving a small dent in the waterfall, and held her cheek in comfort.

“Hey now, calm down, okay? I mean, screw my opinions, I didn’t know the guy as well as you did obviously so, I’m probably wrong, just cheer up please!”

Izzy grasped Rosie’s hand as she gulped her spit, swallowing her pride.

“I-I’m sorry, I don’t know what came over me.”

“Hey, it’s okay!” Rosie gave her a smile. “I didn’t mean to insult your crush like that! I didn’t know!”

Isabelle wanted to deny her claim, but it was pretty dang pointless right now.

“Thank you for understanding.” She said, her tears finally at full halt.

“I could say the same thing.” Said Rosie with a smile. She looked down at their cones which both were on the ground now. “Since we are done with ice cream, wanna get some lunch!”

“Sure!” Said Izzy, a bit more enthusiastically.

RE: Tale of a Pup: Part Time at Retail - Isabelle - 08-06-2017

Quote:Dust was still red and confused from his first client, he enjoyed kissing women but he preferred them a little more developed than that. He almost didn’t notice the cat and dog duo running up.

“Two kisses! One for me, the other for my dog friend here!” Called out Rosie.

“What!?” Yelled Isabelle. “I didn’t ask for this! Please, please don’t make such embarrassing decisions for me!”

“Don’t worry about it!” Called out Rosie as she reached into Isabelle’s top and felt around. The dog immediately went red, so did Usopp and Dust.

After a second. She pulled out a couple of coins.

After a moment of shocked horror, Isabelle snapped back.

“Okay only I can access my pockets!” She said, looking around at the other beach goers that had witnessed Rosie’s actions.

The cat slapped down the money on the table.

“Don’t worry Izzy, it’ll be fantastic! How often do you get a kiss from a hunk like this?” She said, gesturing to Dust.

“I uh...” She looked down, her face still red as a tomato.

Rosie turned back towards the kissing booth manager.

“So how about those kisses?”

RE: Tale of a Pup: Part Time at Retail - Isabelle - 08-06-2017

Quote:
Isabelle plowed through her workload with a whole new vigor, reducing the pile to nothing in what felt like an instant. Really, it took a few hours. After explaining her situation to the Nooks, they agreed to reschedule their meeting. Ol’ Tom was oldly understanding; maybe he had a romantic bone in him after all!

The dog put on her only swimsuit, a red bikini with ribbons, and went down to the beach, eager for her first ever date with the mayor!

It was a perfect day for it too, as if fate had brought them together. The sun was high in the sky, beaming down against her fur. She set down a beach towel and plopped herself down, just enjoying the glow of the early afternoon light.

“Isabelle!” Cried out a familiar voice, followed by the pats of small feet against the course beach sand.

Izzy immediately shot her head in that direction.

The mayor donned a purple swimsuit, a tube top bikini with pink lining. Her pink hair was bundled up in a ponytail, which flapped in the wind as she ran. Her wide brimming smile shoved around the freckles on her face.

Isabelle immediately shot to her feet and straightened herself out.

“Miss Mayor! You made it!” Cried out Isabelle, barely containing her excitement.

“Of course I’d make it!” Stated the mayor, taking Isabelle by the paw. Izzy only blushed at her companion’s forwardness. “I’ve been waiting for this day for too long!”

Izzy and the mayor would spend the day together. They’d run around, collecting seashells, splashing in the ocean, and even got a bit of fishing in. The hours blew away as if they were nothing, and eventually they were watching the sunset over the ocean, sitting on the beach towel that had been abandoned up until that point. As the sun dipped down into the earth, the pair leaned up against each other.

“This was the best day of my life, Miss Mayor!” Stated Isabelle, gleefully.

The mayor reached over, and placed a palm on Izzy’s cheek, causing her to reel back a bit in surprise.

“Miss… Mayor?” She asked, but as she said that second word, she was looking directly in her eyes. Het look was longing, warm, almost lustful in nature.

“Isabelle.” She said, her voice tapering off, a doofy smile on her face. She was so close, she could feel her warm breath against her fur.

The mayor drew her face forward, Isabelle began to feel her face heat up, but she did not dare pull away. She felt the mayor’s lips touch her’s.

Her first kiss. Their first kiss.

Isabelle shook awake. The bands of the beach chair bent to her weight as she wriggled in place, trying to make terms with reality. Like last time, she wasn’t sure if it was just a memory or a fantasy. If felt so real, but something felt off as well.

She tried to cling to the face the dream had presented to her. After all, this could be the face of the mayor this time and not some manifestation of her imagination. But as quickly as she tried to cling to it, she felt the memory of the mayor slip away. She could remember the details, she could remember kissing under the sunset, but the mayor was just an empty spot in her mind once more.

She shed a tear. Even her own mind didn’t want her to find the mayor.

It was around this time that she realized that Rosie was napping in her own beach chair nearby, quietly breathing as she laid strewn about. Some of her limbs were even hanging out of the edges of her seat, pressing against the sand. It was hardly a flattering position.

The dog had a thought though. She could remember Rosie living in her town, maybe the cat could tell her about the mayor! Just a simple description would help her tremendously!

She wasn’t eager to wake a cat from her nap, but she didn’t want to wait either. She prodded her feline companion until Rosie’s eyes opened.

She looked around dazed, wincing at the sun above. She moved her paws to rub the sand out of her eyes before turning her attention towards the dog next to her.

“Oh, Izzy!” She said, half awake. “I must have dozed off. Sorry about that!”

“Rosie, could you describe the mayor to me?” She asked, her paw together in a begging position. “Please?”

“The mayor? Why?”

It was at this point she realized she never explained her situation to the cat. She immediately felt dumb. Kind of jumped the gun there.

“Uh, when I came to the Omniverse, I lost some of my memories, and that apparently includes what the mayor looked like.”

“Oh.” Rosie said, as she pieced together earlier conversations. “Yeah, sure, let me get my head together.”

She took another moment stretching out her paws and rubbing her eyes before she turned towards her dog friend and laid out a description.

“He wore a top hat, glasses, and a small white beard.” Rosie began. “Oh yeah, and a cane!”

“Did he have white hair on his head, too?” Isabelle asked, trying to visualize her description.

“No, he was bald.”

“Wait, bald?”

“He had a really big shell, flat feet, dull dark eyes.”

“Wait wait wait,” Isabelle interrupted realizing the confusion, “you’re describing Tortimer.”

“Well, yeah, he was the mayor!” Rosie said, matter of factly.

“But what about the human that took office after him?” Izzy asked desperately.

“Human that took office? It was only ever Tortimer.” Rosie said, confused and still a bit dazed. “The only humans in our village were Yu and Ai, but they never held public office.”

Isabelle’s eyes glossed over. How was Rosie remembering things differently from her?

“Isabelle? Are you okay?” The feline asked, now kind of concerned.

The funny thing, Isabelle could remember the humans Ai and Yu, she remembered them in the village, but she could also remember the Mayor. She couldn’t understand. She knew the Mayor existed, she could remember all those days and nights serving under them, that can’t be fake. She didn’t understand.

She didn’t understand.

“Is there something I could help you with today?”

She suddenly felt the sensation of thousands of nails piercing her skull, driving their way through the brain. Isabelle screamed bloody murder as she grabbed her head and fell to the sand.

Rosie was the first one by her side.

“Izzy! What’s wrong? What’s happening?”

But Rosie’s words were muffled, her vision was blurred, the pain was excruciating.

“Izzy!”

Darkness.

RE: Tale of a Pup: Part Time at Retail - Isabelle - 08-06-2017

Quote:*later that night*

"No thanks, I really shouldn't let this one around alchohol." Izzy said, gesturing Rosie.

"Hey! Eh, that's true." She said looking at her feet. But she looked up again when her friend placed a paw on her shoulder.

"We'll be heading off back to the hotel room. Thanks for having us!" Said Isabelle with a appreciative smile.

"Good night!" Responded Rosie, sporting her own smile.

The two got up. They took eachother's paw, like they did so many other times today, and made their way to the hotel. The feline was humming to herself, poking at her newly won ribbon. The canine couldn't help but smile at her companion's antics. She had a question on her mind, something she had been considering all day, but now it felt like the perfect time for it.

"Rosie." Isabelle began, catching the cat's attention. "I will be continuing my adventure after today, I still have to find my Mayor."

"You mean Tortimer?"

Isabelle flinched at the mention of his name. She forgotten Rosie's experiences were contrary.

"No, not exactly, I'll explain that later." She said, she took a moment to recompose herself. "What I mean to ask is, would you like to come with me? I mean, as a prime I can-"

Her words were interupted by an abrupt bear hug.

"Yes!" Cried out Rosie as she squeezed her friend. "I will go with you!"

The force of the hug caused Izzy to lose balance and topple to the sand. Despite this, she returned the hug, gleeful her lonely days were finally over.

After returning to the suite, they took turns taking showers. With the rush of the day finally draining away, the weariness quickly took hold as they washed the sand and whatever other gunk they picked with their fur. As soon as both of them were in night gowns, they crawled into the water bed.

"Good night, Rosie."

"Good night, Izzzy!"

They drifted asleep together, holding hands.

RE: Tale of a Pup: Part Time at Retail - Isabelle - 08-06-2017

Isabelle was the first one to wake. She smiled as the first thing in her view was the blurry blue visage of her new best friend. She let go of her paw and rolled out of bed, climbing to her feet.

She had no idea what she was going to do now. For someone who just invited someone to adventure with her, she had no clue. She didn’t even know where she wanted to eat breakfast.

She eventually decided to turn on the TV, but she hardly paid any attention to it. Her slow realization to her own cluelessness devolved into a whirlwind of thought. Where should she go next? She figured she’d continue with her plan to attract the mayor’s attention, but she wasn’t sure what else she could do for that. She began to feel paranoid, like what if Rosie could change her mind about joining her side if she didn’t have a clear plan. She began to get a headache, she clutched her head in frustration.

Then the hotel room phone rang.

“I don’t want to come into work today bosssss...” Rosie said as she tossed onto another side.

Isabelle, frantic to allow her friend’s sleep to continue in peace, rushed across the room to the phone, yanking it off the hook and shoving it under her big floppy ear.

“Hello?”

“Is this Isabelle?”

“Umm, yeah, it is!” She responded to the woman on the other end.

“Someone downstairs, says he wants to see you.”

“Did you get his name?” She wondered if it was one of her beach buddies dropping by for a visit.

“He said his name was Digby.”

Isabelle ran cold. Her jaw dropped, her irises dilated. Her brother was in the Omniverse. She knew her brother was in the Omniverse. They ran into each other on twitter not too long ago. Felt like years since that happened. But that doesn’t change the fact that she completely forgot.

“Hello? Are you still there? He said he’ll meet you out front. Hello?”

“I’ll be right down!” Yelled out Isabelle as she slammed the phone into the receiver. She ran for the elevator and jammed the button. She darted inside as soon as it opened.

RE: Tale of a Pup: Part Time at Retail - Isabelle - 09-14-2017

As she stepped from the elevator, she made a beeline for the front desk, almost surprising the receptionist with the sudden appearance of a canary yellow dog in front of her.

“My brother Digby, where is he?” She asked, her tone kind of hurried upon the discovery of late business.

After a second, the lady recomposed herself and gave a calm response.

“He told me he’d be waiting outside for you.”

Without a moment’s hesitation, Izzy darted for the front door, leaving the receptionist reeling back as if a train had went whipping by five feet away from her. She was kind of impressed by how quickly the girl could move with such stubby legs.

The automatic doors parted for her, and waiting not far was a familiar brown pup, who was idly waiting with his arms crossing behind his back. As her sister approached, he calmly turned to face her.

“Digby I’m so sor-”

Suddenly, Digby’s paw latched on to Izzy’s muzzle and grabbed hold. She immediately waved her arms in exaggerated pain and then reached to pry his grasp off her face.

“I went all the way to lavaland for your, then I went to coruscant, you weren’t in neither!”

“Ow ow ow! That hurts! I’m sorry!”

He let go and sighs.

“I was worried si-”

Suddenly, Izzy’s paw grabbed his muzzle, which is met with an annoyed look.

“I’m sorry for what i did! But please don’t grab my muzzle!” She said, exasperatedly. “It hurts!”

Digby proceeds to get his sister in a headlock. But she breaks free and then wrestles her brother to the ground. The two would have a impromptu WWE match right there in the parking lot. A crowd of onlookers formed a circle around them. Several parents covered their children’s gaze, either not wanting to expose them to violence or out of a complete misinterpretation on what was happening.

After a good fifteen minutes of rough housing, Izzy had Digby pinned long enough for the ref to call it. After she got off him, the two lay on the ground, panting heavily at the over exertion. The people in the crowd began exchanging money as the sports commentator called it a night. Meanwhile, the line of cars that have been waiting fifteen minutes to get through continue to lean on their horns.

In a few minutes, the pair wordlessly make it to the elevator and ride their way up. Rosie had already shaken awake by this point, the reward ribbon still tied to her hair from the night before. She had made her way to the kitchen to prepare herself some coffee, when the elevator door opened to reveal Isabelle and Digby; their fur dirty and ruffled.

Rosie dropped the coffee packet and reeled back.

“Oh my god!”

RE: Tale of a Pup: Part Time at Retail - Isabelle - 09-14-2017

While Isabelle and Digby took turns taking showers, Rosie headed out to get some breakfast. By the time the two of them were finished, she was already back with a trio of muffins. The three of them sat in the circular table located in the kitchen area, Digby and Isabelle sat across from each other, while Rosie sat between them. The cat was eagerly chowing down, while the two dogs in the room were taking their time, averting their gaze. Finally, Isabelle spoke up.

“I’m sorry.” She said, mournfully. “The omniverse has been nothing but chaotic since I got here. It’s been one thing after another, I just lost track of things.”

“That doesn’t sound like you.” He responded. “You’ve managed the chaos of town hall so masterfully, it’s odd for the Omniverse to get you down.”

She finally looked up from her muffin to check if he was kidding with her, but was met with his gaze. He was looking at her, his expression was dead serious. She felt her face grow hot, she veered away from eye contact.

“I wasn’t that masterful.” She said, raising a paw trying to hide the red in her face.

“Look, Isabelle. I believe you. I doubt you would have done that intentionally.” He said, as he reached and took a sip from his coffee. “I guess getting taken here must have been rough. I forget sometimes that even you have limits.”

Her face was scorching like lava. She knew her brother thought the world of her, but she could never get used to him vocalizing it.

She was never used to compliments really; at least not for things she personally achieved.

Digby quickly picked up on her sister’s embarrassment and decided to spare her more of it. He turned towards the cat in the room.

“So who’s your friend here? I don’t believe we’ve met.”

“Yes you have.” Isabelle cocked her head. “She lived in our village, remember?”

“Yeah!” The blue cat cried out, spilling muffin crumbs in front of her. “I’m Rosie! Don’t you remember? I hung out with Ai all the time and I won the fishing tournament the previous season!”

Digby looked at her longer, squinting his eyes as he leaned in forward.

“Nope, never seen you before in my life.”

Rosie, devastated, forlornly turned her attention to her muffin, slowly chewing on her food as a contemplated being forgotten. However, her emotional downward spiral was interupted be a comforting canary yellow paw. She looked up towards Isabelle who was giving her a warm smile. This was enough to raise the cat’s spirits as she smiled back and then went back to devouring her muffin at a “normal” pace.

Isabelle turned to her brother.

“So what have you been up to outside...” On second thought, she didn’t want to remind her brother of earlier. However, lucky for her, he answered her question without incident.

“Oh, I’ve been working on starting a village, much like what we had back home.”

“Really?” Isabelle said, intrigued by her brother’s oddly ambitious goal. He was always known to be so laid back.

“Yeah, a place for our kind to live and be secure. I’ve been in contact with Tom Nook.”

“Nook is in the Omniverse?” Izzy’s eyes widened.

“Yeah! He’s been the lead real estate developer in Ambrosia. We’ve been communicating on establishing in a patch of land just outside the main city, a place that’s quiet.”

“That’s incredible! And a good idea to boot!” Isabelle exclaimed. She was impressed, and a bit proud. Her brother had been using his time wisely.

“Yeah, actually I was kind of hoping..” Suddenly, he averted his gaze again as he rubbed his paws together. “I was kind of hoping you and your friend here could join me. I mean, you don’t have lead the place or anything, but I’d love if we both called the same town home, like how it was before the Omniverse.”

Isabelle went cold. She knew the answer immediately to Digby’s request, but she didn’t want to disappoint him after so soon from what just happened. In the end, she couldn’t lie.

“I’m sorry, but I already have a house in the Omniverse.”

“Oh, right, the Ashen Steppes house.” He responded, rubbing the fur on his chin. Isabelle wondered how he knew about the geode, but he responded before she could ask. “Well, I really hope you consider it. The Ashens is far from the safest place to live. Just please give it some thought.”

Suddenly, Rosie shot up. She had finally finished her muffin, and she had to finish a thought she had earlier. It was imperative.

“Tom Nook!” She yelled with a big ol’ smile on her face as she swallowed the last bit. “I saw him on Twitter!”

“Nook uses twitter?” Isabelle asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Yeah, we communicate there often.” Cited Digby, reaffirming Rosie’s claim.

Isabelle just had to take a look at this. She pulled out her phone and pulled up twitter. Before she could search for Nook, she couldn’t help but notice a news story that was trending, one she couldn’t help take note of.

“Ashen Steppes Invaded! Situation Grim!” It read.

How long had this been going on? Is her home in danger? What’s happening with the geode? She needed to investigate, but what about Rosie and Digby? She wouldn’t put them in danger for her curiousity.

By now, the other two had noticed the look on her face.

“What’s going on, Izzy?” Said Rosie concerned.

Isabelle, silently pulled out her key and slid it towards her cat companion.

“Rosie, go get your stuff, get ready to leave. Digby? Stay here, I’ll be back for you two.”

“Whatever it is, I can help.” Offered Digby.

“Look, my house might be in danger. I just need to check in on it, make sure it’s okay.” She said, her face full of concern. “Don’t worry about me, I’m a prime, I’ll make it out. You two just stay here, I’ll be back in a few hours.”

Isabelle stood up and activated the recall station countdown. Suddenly, Rosie wrapped her arms around her, giving her a big hug.

“Come back to me safe, okay?” Rosie requested.

“I will, don’t worry.” Izzy reassured.

From over the shoulder of her companion, her eyes met Digby’s who simply nodded. It was clear he was trying to bury his concern. He was fighting to keep it from showing on his face.

“Stay safe.” He said simply.

RE: Tale of a Pup: Part Time at Retail - Isabelle - 09-14-2017

Quote:Continued from Tale of a Pup: In the Doghouse

The walk across the Nexus gave her even more time to think. Her dreams were just way too unrealistic for the life Omni gave her. If the titan wanted her to save people and be a hero, he would have given her some other power other than super defenses. Though her heart ached for the mayor, she knew they were a highly capable individual. They didn’t need help from someone like her.

When she was but a short distance from the Vasty Gate, she pulled out her house which was encapsulated in a tiny orb. Just seeing it brought back the pain of watching her friend and protector destroy himself, but it was also a painful reminder of her dream. This was her home, the one she was going to share with the mayor. It was the home she was going to start a domestic life with them in. It just felt so childish now.

She focused her om, and after a good amount of time, the building had rearranged into the shape of a Town Hall, much like the one she used to work out of back home. Looking at it, it was a perfect replica of the one she knew all too well. Some reason, just seeing it gave her a short glimmer of bliss, before another wave of loss struck that down like the god’s wrath.

She quickly shoved it away, and stepped through.

“You think she’s alright? It’s been hours!”

“I dunno, maybe we should give her a call.”

Just as she stepped through, Rosie and Digby were already near the gate, the cat had a packed suitcase ready to go. They were just sitting a bench, pulling out their phones to check statuses. Rosie went for her contacts.

Isabelle’s phone rang and that immediately clued the two to her presence. Rosie leapt up and ran for her friend, throwing her arms around her in a big hug. Digby gave a sigh of a relief.

“I was beginning to get worried.” Said her brother

“I was worried an hour or so ago!” Cried out her cat companion.

Izzy returned the hug. After hours of sulking, her warmth was enough to lift her spirits. She could already feel her joy come back. The clarity she got from the moment was enough to make her wish she had thought about it more before reconfiguring her dream home, but it’s too late now.

When they parted, Rosie excitedly showed off her suitcase.

“I’m all packed up and ready to go! Lead the way commander!” She said saluting.

“You don’t have to salute me or call me commander,” she said, chuckling, “we’re more partners than anything.”

“Hehe, I can live with that!” She responded, rubbing the back of her head.

Isabelle pulled out the orb from her pocket and lifted it up for Digby to see.

“You were right about Ashen Steppes being no place for a home, so I’ve taken you up on your offer.” She said as Digby took the object. “Inside that capsule is your new Town Hall shrunken down. Just got to find a place to put it and I’ll plant it to normal size!”

“Woah!” Said Digby, unsuspecting of this much of support out of the blue. “This looks exactly like the town hall back home! That’s incredible!”

Rosie stepped in to take a peek.

“Ooh! And there’s a cottage next to it!” The blue cat said.

“What?” Vocalized Isabelle, but it fell on deaf ears.

“Ooh, she’s right! A little house just for you Isabelle! You definitely deserve it!” Stated her brother enthusiastically

Isabelle took the orb and took a look for herself. Sure enough, a small cottage was there. Did her mind subconsciously make her a place to live? Was this what’s left of her dream home?

While it wasn’t the mansion from before, something about it was so quaint, so perfect. She couldn't help but to have a smile spread across her face.

With a little bit of hope for the future, she turned towards her friends.

“Well, onward to Ambrosia!”
