Character switch: Axemerax to Vulre Oakenlimb - Vulre Oakenlimb - 06-29-2017 Character name: Vulre Oakenlimb Character source: OC (Donut steel) Character history: Among the Elves of the Sacred Forests, magic is ubiquitous. Even the lowest trueborn son of the god-favoured realm is able to glamour themselves and see the underlying arcane currents of the world, a fact that has allowed them to thrive in their impenetrable forests, comfortable in their superiority over the lesser races, looking down upon them from atop their arboreal cities. Runes and enchantments cover almost every Elvish trinket and weapon, infusing them with the divine favour of their ancient and impossibly beautiful gods. Every one of the fey folk is born nearly impossibly beautiful and filled with magic potential, eager to spend their long lives enjoying their carefully cultivated culture. As such, Vulre came as quite a surprise to his Noble-born parents. Where each Elf was normally a font of arcane power, he was empty, devoid, entirely without a spark of mana. Almost invisible to the mage-sight favoured by his kind, Vulre was an outcast; taunted and teased by his peers, silently suffering through the decades needed to immerse an Elven child in their ancient culture. Hundreds of hours spent watching others how to weave mana, when even the most basic cantrip was impossible for him to grasp. Eventually becoming disenfranchised with his life, Vulre fled to low-town, a small community of other races that grew around the trunk of the great trees his race resided in. The riotous clash of colours and cultures fascinated him, especially in comparison to the Elven ideals that were kept forever out of his reach due to accident of birth. He began to spend more and more of his time among the low-born races of the world, quietly observing them from above the streets, his absences during his arcane schooling doing little to sully his already-sunken academic career. Vulre's studies of the lesser races came to a close with the coming of war. An Orcish horde descended upon the sacred forests, turning the arboreal sanctuaries to ash, trampling leylines beneath hated iron as they marched. Being barely of age, Vulre enlisted into the infantry, his elder siblings joining the esteemed mage corps. Marching alongside the more robust races, Vulre quickly learnt two things: The first being the value of physicality, and the second being his natural immunity to the tortorous touch of iron his people suffered. When the shieldwalls clashed, Vulre learnt two more things: That he was naturally gifted at violence, and that he was able to shrug off the sinister magicks of the foe. In a world where magic was so prevalent, he was a black hole; a blank slate where even the most mundane peasant had some pittance of potential. His mind and body were nearly invisible to magic, agonizing arcane forces capturing dozens of men around him, while he was left standing, a throwing axe quickly resolving the issue of the Orcish warlock that had sought to steal victory from him. Through the precise application of violence, Vulre prospered in warfare, winning what meagre accolades that the mages had not already claimed for themselves. With his father dead, courtesy of a stray catapult shot, Vulre received a pittance of the inheritance, befitting the black sheep of the family. Using these funds, he began his career as a mercenary, seeking to recapture the glory and purpose he found on the battlefield. He was largely successful. Even outside the Elvish realms, a creature with absolutely no magical presence was nearly unheard of. With a determination to ascend and to return the decades of frustration he suffered, Vulre offered himself up as a specialist: A witch hunter. Warlocks, demented druids, and maddened magicians grew to fear Tome-Torcher, Mage-slayer. Vulre began to take a particular enjoyment in facing down Elven mages that had stirred up enough trouble to warrant a bounty placed upon them, the infuriating superiority he had been forced to endure during his childhood being broken apart when they faced a near-invincible killer adorned with cold iron. It was during this time of fortune and glory that Vulre was taken to the Omniverse, his coinpurse bloated with gold and his gauntlets stained red with the blood of mages. Physical Description: (originals only) ![]() Vulre prefers a quilted cloth and leather Hauberk for maximum mobility, with an iron helm and pauldrons to account for the height advantage many magical beasts have over him. Beneath his armour, he is notably well-muscled for an elf, the normal dainty nature of his people abandoned in favour of the strength to carve his own path through the world. He stands at roughly 2 meters tall, with much of his body being scarred or burnt in some manner, his natural lack of magical presence doing little to protect him from fireballs. His face is relatively unscathed, save for his left ear. While it once came to a point, it is now a ragged ruin, courtesy of a hungering beast bound by a druid that sought to tear down civilization. He moves cautiously and efficiently, each motion a calculated risk. Stats: ATK: 2 DEF: 2 SPD: 2 TEC: 4 Starting Proficiencies: Physical Proficiency (1000 OM), Ranged proficiency (1000 OM) Starting Powers: Stealth (1200 OM), Foresight (1500 OM) Starting Moves: Cold Iron Axe (300 OM) Vulre's favoured weapon is a simple iron axe, carefully crafted to cleave through what little cloth or leather most mages prefer in lieu of armour. It possess a haft roughly a half-meter long, with the nicked and chipped blade extending 10 centimeters forward. While its construction was anathema to most magic creatures in his home 'verse, here it is little more than a serviceable weapon and tool. Vulre prefers to keep it chained to his wrist, so as to prevent it from being knocked from his hands. I confirm that I have read and agreed to the Rules of Conduct. Where did you find us? I cannot leave. I have tried, but every door leads back here. I haven't seen my family in weeks. Please send help. RE: Character switch: Axemerax to Vulre Oakenlimb - Vulre Oakenlimb - 06-29-2017 I have crossed Greg's palm with silver to bypass the usual switch limit. RE: Character switch: Axemerax to Vulre Oakenlimb - Omni - 06-30-2017 *Regards bag of silver, takes a look around before sliding it over the desk and tucking it into his pocket* Everything seems to be in order here, sir. Though not strictly necessary I'd also prefer it if you got a picture of his actual face for reference. But that can go on your roster once you're signed up. Here's the paperwork. Cause no trouble. :arztotzka: Name: Vulre Oakenwang Spent OM: 5000 Consumed OM: 0 Proficiencies (2000); Physical Proficiency (1000 OM), Ranged proficiency (1000 OM) Powers (2700/8000); Stealth (1200 OM), Foresight (1500 OM) Moves (300); Cold Iron Axe (300) Super Moves (0); Transformations (0); Assists (0); Items: Artefacts: Bases: Unlocks (0); Base stats: ATK: 2 DEF: 2 SPD: 2 TEC: 4 |
