4th Wall Breaking Characters - Ash - 06-17-2017
Hello!! I have a question, or 4.. =\
So Ash is a gamer, and I imagine even in the future that is her backstory that she could get copies of games from 'back in the good ole days' that would include many games that several characters came from, so she would definately recognize people like Jack Mar from Jak and Daxter, Dante from Devil May Cry, Link from LoZ, and even the Final Fantasy characters. Is this allowed? Can I be a fan-girl?
Secondly, if I wanted to give Ash moves based off games she's played, would she need "mimic"?

I believe the official ruling is "sure, but only if the other player is okay with it."
I think it can be a very thin line to walk, especially if you start getting into the mechanics of the Overse itself or knowing other people's backstories, signature moves, etc etc

You can recognize characters from other media, you just can't use it to gain special knowledge you wouldn't otherwise have (as mentioned in Strazio's link). You character can THINK Batman is a fictional character, but in the Omniverse he is very real and you wouldn't be able to say, know his secret identity and leak it over the Dataverse, etc.

Nope, you can just buy them normally. Mimic is only needed to copy a move for a limited time. Buying it outright has no limitations on what you can or cannot have.
