Jaixe Furiael Alt: Aloysius Koehler - Koehler - 06-16-2017

Character name: Aloysius Koehler
Nickname: Cole

Character source: Variant of Bleach

Character history:
[spoiler]
Aloysius Koehler is a pureblood Quincy, coming from a prestigious but currently undercover family of such. The Koehler family, as they are known now, are known for their variable, potent elemental abilities, though like all Quincy families, their family was cut down to size following the aftermath of the Shinigami-Quincy war that took place during the timespan of the two World Wars on Earth. Cole, a nickname derived from his current surname, wasn't one that liked to sit around and following the mysterious death of his mentor and great grandfather, as well as the disappearance of his grandfather and others in his extended family, he decided to take the Quincy's ideals of protecting the world against the Hollows and all other threats to heart and began traveling abroad.

On his journeys, he fought in the battles against Aizen Sosuke, having been taught by one Fukaku Nayamasa, a renegade Quincy that took another path down the road of revenge than what Cole has done, but share similar convictions all the same. He met Rizuka Minamoto, a Shinigami Captain in charge of the SRDI, and began wondering if the wounds between Quincy and Shinigami in the wake of the devastating war could be mended. After all, Cole does not share the same ideals for vengeance as Nayamasa and many others did, believing that both sides were likely at fault and that he should judge people by their actions, and not the actions of their predecessors. This being one of the rare moments that Cole ever stopped to ponder the past mistakes of his ancestors, as he believes in the now and the near future, never stopping or hesitating to press forward. He was and still is reckless and naive, but is committed to his ideals through even the darkest days.

Following the defeat of Aizen, Cole wandered the world seeking clues and answers to the memories that sprung up from a spirit that took home in him and only awoke recently. He discovered clues and rumors of an ancient Quincy ritual, something called the Seishin Tsume. Without even thinking of the consequences, and desiring to stabilize the spirit within him and keep it from certain destruction, he commenced with the ritual. Requiring the potential sacrifice of his arm, and maybe his life, as well as complete and total commitment to the ideals and purpose of the Quincy, the Seishin Tsume took hold and granted him power and potential greater than he had before, but was still unstable and prone to outbursts. Under the tutelage of the only remaining elder who knew the secret of the Seishin, a man known as Mukashi Chikashi, Cole began to slowly master and train this new power.

This in time for his capture by a golden-eyed immortal known simply as Fumetsu. A mysterious man of incredible strength and wielding a similar power to Cole, Fumetsu had been planning for years to gather enough spiritual energy into a reservoir by draining the souls of any he captured, and binding other souls to himself as slaves to his will. Creating an army of feral Hollows, and capturing Nayamasa himself, Fumetsu began a series of devastating conflicts that ravaged the face of the world and the Soul Society. This one-sided war saw many dead heroes before culminating in a final conflict between the remaining Captains and survivors against Fumetsu, who had essentially harvested most of the world and gained unimaginable power from it. The battle raged on, as Cole, freed from Fumetsu's control through a mixture of his Seishin Spirit, the soul of his mentor and Great Grandfather as well as Nayamasa's aid, bound Fumetsu's soul to his own and contained him for eternity.

Many years passed since that battle, and Cole still carries the scars of his struggles. Still holding onto the souls of his mentor and Great Grandfather, as well as the man who murdered him and most of the world, Fumetsu, Cole still went on to protect the survivors from the vagrant hordes of Hollows and rogues left in the aftermath of the devastation, working towards a better future.

And then Saiko, an insane and ancient Hollow who sought to evolve mankind through ceaseless conflict, appeared in the world and, as usual, he and others sought to stop her. Though success eventually came against even this monstrosity, Cole would never see the day. He was last found being thrown down into an abyss, covered in wounds and blood trailing behind him. It was at this moment that Omni summoned him to the multiverse.

A few things to note: This version of Bleach does not have an Ichigo Kurosaki has the main character and hero, and the events surrounding or caused by him didn't occur. After Aizen, it was all made-up story arcs, so Yhwach never existed here either. Also noteworthy is that Quincies tended to live longer lives than Humans, and could reach a couple hundred years with the Seishin, hence why his grandfather and his great grandfather were alive for so long. The two survived through the Quincy-Shinigami war and the two World Wars, the former having been born in them.

As for Cole's general personality, he is dedicated to protecting others, often at the sacrifice of his own wellbeing. He is almost obsessive about claiming victory at any cost, is generally reckless, often to a fault, and is naive and quick to trust others, a trait that often comes back to harm him. He can be a bit shy at times when trying to hold a conversation, but has since worked in correcting the social awkwardness of his youth. He can be a bit rude, but often has the best intentions, even if his heart leads him astray at times. One can say that he relies heavily on luck and persistence rather than skill and focus, but don't underestimate his resolve, as when he's pushed to the brink, he has often found a way to strike back and turn the tables on his opponents.

Physical Description:
Image 1 | Image 2

Still in his early twenties, Cole has a long life to live yet. He is reasonably tall, at about six feet, and weighing in at 170 lbs (76 kg), he is thin and athletic. He has medium-length, somewhat unkempt golden-blonde hair and sapphire blue eyes that can turn aflame with either yellow or blue fire, depending on his focus and mood at the given time. Although young, Cole has fought in many battles against Hollows, Shinigami, Quincies, and even some spiritually-empowered Humans. As a result, he has several scars ranging from burns, cuts, and a plethora of others along his front and back torso, legs, and arms. He often wears long-sleeves and pants to cover these up, not wanting to give the wrong impression.

Along his left arm are three circular marks and a black band that circles around the wrist and connects them. Sprouting off the band is a tattoo vaguely resembling the wing of an eagle, spiraling up his arm, along his back where the body of the eagle appears, and down the other arm for the other wing. The tattoo appears tribal in nature and style. This represents his Seishin Tsume, and how connected it is to Cole's own spirit. The larger the tattoo, the more connected. At its current size, it is almost completely synchronized, a testament to the years Cole has spent fighting alongside his Seishin Spirit.

Appearance
When active, Cole gains twin, long-barreled magnums in either hand which appear to be made of spiritual energy at first before solidifying. On the handle of each magnum lies a loop with a chain running through it, which spirals along Cole's arms and then ends in his back, embedded into his skin. The chains seem to pulse with energy. The tattoo that adorns Cole's skin begins to glow a fiery red, as a dim aura of fire envelopes him. Each of the magnums has a unique reticule, taking the shape of the Quincy Crosses that Cole used, one a Grapevine cross that belongs to Cole, and the other a Coptic Cross that belongs to his Great Grandfather.

Features
Cole requires two seconds to fully materialize the magnums and use them, but he need not be stationary to do so, as it only requires a moderate amount of focus. However, he requires the two Quincy Crosses on his person to materialize this weapon. The two magnums have a combined fire rate of twenty rounds per second (ten rounds per second for each magnum), and have a sustained firing period of five seconds before requiring Cole to reload. The magnums fire normal-sized bullets that travel at roughly the same speed as one, but each bullet has a fiery effect to them, applying a burning effect upon contact. The burning effect does not last longer than a split second.

For Cole to reload his magnums, he need only draw in ambient energy for two seconds, requiring only a moderate amount of focus to do so. If a magnum is destroyed or knocked out of his hand, it dematerializes, as the chain that connects the magnum can be broken easily. The chains are made of spiritual energy, and do not function like normal chains, and cutting them may disrupt the flow of energy into the magnums, forcing Cole to reload the affected weapon. If one of the guns is destroyed, it may be rematerialized for an appropriate amount of time and concentration (1 second per magnum).

Most of Cole's abilities will require the activation of his Quincy Bow.

[spoiler]
Via concentrating energy into both magnums, Cole is capable of firing thin, but potent beams of fiery energy. They are fast, bright, and quite loud, emanating a deafeningly loud shrieking noise when fired. The ability requires five seconds to charge, in which time Cole may not fire, but can continue moving. If he utilizes powers that require a degree of focus, the charge time is delayed by a couple seconds longer. Upon completion of this charge time, the twin magnums may fire up to four beams, two each, at Cole's discretion. Cole may also continue firing as normal with his guns, but will have to recharge upon the use of all four beams. He may not gain additional use by overcharging this ability, and once the last beam is fired, he must wait fifteen seconds before charging up again. The effective recasting time is therefore 20 seconds in total.

The beams themselves are small and thin, being roughly two centimeters in diameter, but are lethal due to their piercing effect, capable of punching through some objects and weak defenses on their way to the target. Upon impact, the beams cause flame to erupt in a four centimeter radius around and inside the wound, causing flames to burn the target alongside the kinetic force inflicted by the impact. The flames last no longer than a moment before dissipating. Once it impacts the intended target, or a person at all, it will not continue through them. The beam travels at the speed of a bullet, and Cole may not fire two beams at the same time, they must be fired in succession. If the beam meets stiffer defenses or obstacles, it may simply fizzle out before making its way through them, therefore nullifying it. If one of the firearms is destroyed, any unused beam charges stored in that particular gun are also lost.

History - Your history has to let us know when he came to the omniverse (what was going on?)

Quincy Bow - is the burning effect a variable part of the move or are they always on fire? Is the burn effect like a debuff effect (are they on fire and continually burning, or does it just hurt a little more because of the hot bullets)?

Sutakira - How long does he need to concentrate energy for?

RE: Jaixe Furiael Alt: Aloysius Koehler - Koehler - 06-17-2017

History updated to account for arrival. Apparently I forgot to do that... The Quincy Bow was also updated. The burning effect was changed to note that it doesn't last longer than a moment. It's not meant to be a debuff. Also removed the successive hits part, as that might make it seem like it is. As for Sutakira, I assume you mean how long it takes to charge it, right? It should say it takes five seconds. Fifteen seconds for cooldown, and a total of twenty for recasting it. Still updated Sutakira's burning effect cause that should also only last a moment.

Aside from burning, the flames don't have a debilitating effect yet. Note to self: don't write character sheets when half asleep. Any other problems with it? I hope it's decent at least.

RE: Jaixe Furiael Alt: Aloysius Koehler - Daniel - 06-17-2017

History - " he'd awake in the Omniverse to the sound of running water and the sight of a canvas of pure white". Everyone awakes in a pitch black room with Omni giving them the introduction. After that they find themselves at the nexus. Just say something like, "It was at this point that Omni took him from his world."

Tentai Hono - Why is this 600?

Sutarika - What is the size of the small circle of flames? Can these flames damage more than 1 person at a time?

RE: Jaixe Furiael Alt: Aloysius Koehler - Koehler - 06-17-2017

History - That seems like a strange detail to nitpick, given that everyone does wake up at the fountain, but alright.

Tentai Hono - Hmm, I guess I did that for safety given that he can switch between one-handed and two-handed. If that's not a variable that counts, I'll cut the cost down to 300.

Sutakira - Hmm, that kinda depends on a person's Defense, doesn't it? I guess if they're pretty lacking in defense and someone's standing behind them, yeah, it probably could affect multiple people. Otherwise, probably not? Not to even consider how many obstacles it'd have to cut through as well to reach its target, it could just fizzle out on the first person it hits. It's circumstantial. Do you want me to put that into the description?
As for the circle of flame, it isn't much larger around than your average bullet wound, so about three centimeters around the impact and inside the wound, if there is one, would probably be about right. I suppose it's more a cylinder than a circle at that point.

I have updated everything accordingly, except for the price of Tentai Hono, until you say so.

RE: Jaixe Furiael Alt: Aloysius Koehler - Daniel - 06-18-2017

Well, the introduction says you wake up in a black void (then you go through the Omni speech), so it's not a nitpick.

Tentai Hono - is fine at 300

Sutakira - You wouldn't be piercing through anyone, unless they have defence of 0 (maybe 1 if your ATK stat is high enough) with this move in it's current form. I mean it would definitely break the skin, but it wouldn't travel through multiple targets. White I meant by area of effect was for the flames only, but you said that it was only 3cm around the area of impact so that is fine.

Is the circle of flames something that is always a part of the move? or is it a mode he can switch to?

RE: Jaixe Furiael Alt: Aloysius Koehler - Koehler - 06-18-2017

Tentai Hono - Price is now 300.

Sutakira - The circle of flames is always active in tandem with it being a beam of energy that tries to pierce people. Also, it being a foot in diameter is actually a bit much to what I was imagining it to be, I'm not really sure why I chose that number. It should actually be a couple centimeters, so I think I'll change it to 2 centimeters in diameter and 4 centimeters for the flame effect. Does that sound more appropriate, given that it's supposed to be a piercing attack?

RE: Jaixe Furiael Alt: Aloysius Koehler - Daniel - 06-20-2017

I think that's alright. Just update what needs to be updated and then bump the topic again.

RE: Jaixe Furiael Alt: Aloysius Koehler - Koehler - 06-20-2017

I updated the wording on the Quincy Bow to be a little clearer and precise. Aside from that, I've been updating as we've been going along, so everything is set to go whenever you're ready.
