What's in the Basket? - BASKETCASE - 07-12-2017 Quote:“My name is Omni. This is not the world you know. This is the Omniverse. You interest me, so I have made you part of it. The Omniverse is a place that reflects the wishes of those who are part of it. But! There are rules. I will explain them only once, so listen carefully.” Quote:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-zjQIzyTx4 You wait and watch, omnipresent and omniscient as the curious lump of flesh and bone holds the glimmering orb within its misshapen palm. With curiosity, you continue to observe it while it concentrates on that manifestation of your own divine power. With a revolting roar, the deformed creature wills a human being into existence. The human looks normal and wears a tattered old khaki jacket and a dirty pair of jeans. His curly hair is unkempt and his face seems confused and disoriented. You watch the pair from the unseen reaches of space that mortals cannot comprehend, yet wonder what why this abominable monster would summon such a mild mannered young man. The man blinks his eyes, looks at the hideous creature, then to the floor like a dog showing subservience to its master. You have seen countless Primes walk through the shimmering halls of the Nexus, and with morbid interest you realize you have never seen anyone or anything quite like these two. The revolting blob of scar-tissue bares its fangs at the 20 year old man and a low grunt escapes what may be called a throat. Again, from thin air, the creature you have brought to the Omniverse wills another object into existence from the orb of omnilium that was bequeathed to it. To your uncommonly delightful surprise, the monster has summoned a three foot by two foot wicker basket at the foot of its new companion. What could such a mundane object be for? The rumbling sound croaks out of the monsters lips for a few seconds and you watch as the man nods obediently and grasps the sickening creature in his arms. You have stared into the souls of so many travelers, yet this one truly perplexes you. You sense a shared emotion between the two. The normal looking one seems to hold a sort of brotherly love and affection for the creature he holds in his arms, and as you contemplate the relationship further, you recognize that within the disgusting mess of scars and sinew, the monster's face looks shockingly similar to the man. Perhaps they truly are brothers in their own world? The creature squishes wetly within its brother's arms as the fleshly lump of its innards press against the khaki jacket. You look deep into the soul of the monster, and suddenly feel the desire to retch. You do not, you are a god after all. You feel malice, hate, envy, and sadism flow through the creature's black soul like a tidal wave of filth. You know the creature feels these things for not only society, but towards even the normal looking man that holds him; these feelings taste like the sooty ashes of a thousand burnt cigarettes or the dried flecks of blood on the lips of a strangled corpse. Deeper still within the creature's evil heart you can feel an even more powerful well of hate, despair and masochism; these blackest of emotions you know it feels for itself and its miserable life. The man places the creature gently into the wicker basket, picks up the load, then begins to almost robotically walk to the gates of Corsucant. As they draw further from the fountain, you can't help but wonder if gods are capable of mistakes, and if you have made one in unleashing this onto your world. |
