So this isn't a quick question because of well, ongoing discussion on the topic with more than one or two back and forths.
Can a character be in two topics at once? Answer: No.(Not in the rules)
Two places at once and flash-forwarding does not say no to having two topics going concurrently. It does mean you couldn't do something like say summon an item in one topic and push that onto another topic that is 'in the future'. That could be Flash Forwarding. But not every topic is happening at the same point in time so having two topics has nothing to do with being in two places at the same time.
It isn't particularly difficult to have two unrelated topics running from two separate points in time while avoiding any interaction between the two., lets say Desco plays games with Dark Link on Monday and then goes and hangs out with Luffy on Wednesday. These two events could easily be completely independent of eachother thus no flash forwarding (Nothing that happens with Dark Link will be mentioned in the topic with Luffy), not in two places at once (By definition, they are not happening on the same day.)
Neither could it be abusive in terms of OM gain as I've noted you can play NPCs entirely separate from your character. So you can pull out an NPC and always have her posting somewhere just like your 'main character' and continue to gain OM for your main character. Unless I've got some fundamental misunderstanding here and you need some kind of NPC account to avoid giving your 'main character' OM Cloud for something you did with your NPC Prime Sephiroth.
Not that I particularly mind either way (as I probably wouldn't consider multiple topics at this time even if I could do it.) but I'd like to know what the rules are regarding it. I don't mind just going with a flat No either without any explanation, but if I hear an explanation that doesn't seem to apply I do have to ask more.

We don't allow concurrent topics because we have a strong competitive focus and players need to be in one place in order to be effectively found. See the Fight rules for details.
There's lots of other smaller reasons but it boils down to a no. I know you probably want to argue back and forth on this one. However, I will save us both time and just say: it's not going to change.

No, im good, it would not make sense any other way. I figured as much with this not being addressed in the rules. Death rules would not work with concurrent topics very well. But I do like to be clear on the rules.
