Moveset Analysis - Tearen Wover - 06-28-2017

HI!

So, it's no secret that I tend to utterly dominate any fight I'm in, whether it be a mock battle or an actual IC exchange? Why you ask?

Well, part of it is due in credit to my highly refined mastery of the written word, but the OTHER part of it is due to having an utterly unstoppable moveset. Seriously, have you seen my moves? Have you seen them in action? Do some research, then come back and kneel before Zodd me. :nealaphh:

All jankshittery aside, I do feel qualified to help people round out their rosters with moves that will help their overall performance in any Prime fight they find themselves in. If you want my advice, just say so, and give me a brief overview of what sort of direction you're trying to take your character, mechanics-wise.

If you're too much of a wuss bag to subject yourself to my divine scrutiny, here's your TLBig GrinR take away:

Fill your roster with more Moves than Attacks. Two or three ways to deal reliable damage is good, but the rest should serve to give you a tactical edge.

RE: Moveset Analysis - Jack Darby - 06-28-2017

Do you mind if I post some moves here for you to look over, and help me fix up so they can give Repliku an edge?

RE: Moveset Analysis - Marcus Wright - 06-28-2017

Tearen, I wanted to have a Assist from Blair's plane more of like a airstrike, could you do something like that? How would you set it up? I have some idea of how it would look like.

RE: Moveset Analysis - Jack Darby - 06-28-2017

My ideas for Repliku include a variety of keyblade attacks on his opponent, the liberal use of magic, the liberal use of Soul Eater and perhaps even later down the line, the inclusion of modern firearms, and explosives in battle. Could you help me come up with some move ideas to put into practice for him in that? Also trying to think of more Keyblades to give him, as well as a few more mundane blades.

RE: Moveset Analysis - Tearen Wover - 06-28-2017

This ain't the Move Creation Workshop, kiddos, but I'll humor you.

Marcus: I'd use a super move for a single air strike. Luckily I'm an aviation fanatic, so I feel credible in this instance, specially since I was planning something familiar for Tearen. If you just want the Warthog to come in and strafe the enemy, that's a single attack, so a Super Move works fine.

Now, if you want her to stick around for, say, close air support, you'd need to buy the Assist as well as any of the guns and ordnance you'd have her use while on station.

Repliku: First and foremost, you really only need 1 melee and 1 ranged weapon, so just pick one and find new ways to use it. If you're going to wait to get a ranged weapon, you're going to need a move to close the distance between you and an opponent. Alternatively, get a move to hold them still for a few seconds.

Since you tend to switch characters faster than a 13th century typesetter, we'll focus on the short term for now. I think delivering your spell effects through Soul Eater would be a good core mechanic for Repliku, as it compliments his prowess with the blade as well as his mobility. To that end, you may want to get a move, such as a temporary shield bubble, that gives you cover while you cast debuffs into the sword.

RE: Moveset Analysis - King Ghidorah - 06-28-2017

Halright. Here is dill.

I've had a clear picture of what I want to do with Kelly's moveset since I joined - in some ways, its going to be very similar to Tearen's, with lots of debuffs and moves emphasizing control over direct damage. He's pretty much covered.

Ghidorah is another matter. His whole philosophy is different - as evidenced by the big fat goose-egg occupying his TEC score. His entire build revolves around transformations, super-moves, stat-upgrades, and a few very powerful normal moves. If Kelly is an F-22, then Ghidorah is a steam locomotive that turns into one of those horrifying tenement-sized surface-mining land-rigs. However, I've recently realized that there's a hole in his development tree. When I planned him out, I focused almost entirely on his kaiju-forms.

His moveset in his humanoid form is, frankly, sparse. He has scintillating scales, he has two T1 super-moves - an attack and a defense , a T1 powerup that gives him a single point in TEC and kicks his ATK and DEF up to 7, and he has the lightning - and that's pretty much it. I've got some ideas for things I could do with him to make him more dominant in his base-form. They revolve around the concept of overwhelming strength and cosmic energy/phenomena, as that is kind of his whole thing - lots of knockdown, lots of area-of-effect, eventually some (weak) debuffs. However as you've got a lot more experience than I, I'd like to hear your thoughts.

RE: Moveset Analysis - Tearen Wover - 06-28-2017

That depends. Is his base human form just going to be used to hold out until he can get swole, or do you plan on using it regularly for combat? It makes a big difference for how his moves should function.

RE: Moveset Analysis - Dawnika Snow - 06-28-2017

Dawn has variety of primary moves for damage, but I was wanting something along the lines of debuffing and buffing moves. Got any suggestions?

RE: Moveset Analysis - Kelly MacAryn - 06-28-2017

The way things are shaping up with Ghidorah, I expect to be using it for combat more regularly than I'd initially assumed I would. Delaying tactics until he can show off his mad gains are important - I'd been thinking along those lines myself - but he also needs to be able to bring the fight home if he's burned through all his SP in the first two rounds, or if he's juggling his Villain Ball and staying small in order to appreciate the details.

RE: Moveset Analysis - Tearen Wover - 06-28-2017

Dawn: This all depends on how much of a team player you want to be. You wanna spec for solo or squad work?

Giddy: The first thing that comes to mind for his humanoid form is charged energy melee. Maybe less than totally novel, but it would be a cheap buy with a lot of versatility. You could also work some debuffs or stuns into it if you felt inclined to help keep people reeling while you build up kaijuices. If you're looking for something a little more weight behind it, consider giving him the ability to use his kaiju moves while still a little guy. How you wanna fluff that is up to you, but to me it seems flashy/plausible that he could summon parts of his bigger body through time portals or something to deliver attacks. Just a whirling vortex snaps open behind him and a fuckin Ghidorhead flies out and chomps a bitch. Random golden feet from the sky, monty python style, that sort of thing.

RE: Moveset Analysis - Dawnika Snow - 06-28-2017

Both really. Mostly for team support, but I want for solo as well. Dawn hates being caught without tricks up her sleeves.

RE: Moveset Analysis - Albert Wesker - 06-28-2017

Let's see here...I'd be interested in seeing what you could come up with for Mister Global Saturation. My primary goal for him is to focus on damage avoidance or soaking up/absorbing a lot of damage, similar to how he functions in-game. Taking it like a champ to screw with people, but when shit gets real initiating damage_avoidance.exe or some such. I dunno. That aside, he's primarily going to rely on stat upgrades, and getting up close and personal for close-quarters combat, unarmed and martial arts, focusing on single-target disabling and stuns, maybe going from target to target but always focusing on one target at a time. I have a rough outline in mind, but nothing definite, and you've got the skills to pay some kind of bills.

Curious what you got.

RE: Moveset Analysis - Simon - 06-28-2017

It occurs to me my current abundance of weapons and moves is fairly broad, but in some cases redundant. I've already been thinking of how to overhaul everything and make Dante even better (and closer to the full extent of what he can do in the games), but I'd love to hear your input on what I've got and what I could use.

RE: Moveset Analysis - Handsome Jack - 06-28-2017

I have After Image already, for the use of non-attacking. But DBZ is a pretty... attack-centric medium. Gonna grab Solar Flare as a T1 Super Move too. After that, any utility Moves will likely come as I drink peeps.

RE: Moveset Analysis - Tearen Wover - 06-28-2017

Dawn:

You have many pretty pretty boomsticks, yes. I think at this point, if you want to start getting tricksy, you might want to invest in some deployable gadgetry. Deployable cover would be a good start, but you could also potentially invest in some L4D2 style ammo boxes that allow you and other people to augment their ranged weaponry with explosive, corrosive, incendiary, etc. properties. Combat drones could also be fun, and help keep your opponents heckled while you set up some sick plays. Or...I dunno...flying demon imps. Whatever flavor you wanna put on it.

Also, may I recommend? Get yourself some Super Defense Moves. Now that you're playing with the big kids, you'll need them sorely.

Wesky:

Kinda sounds like you wanna go MvC3 with Wesker, which I approve of. I think the thing that really defines Wesker's combat is total, calm, superiority. The face tanking is easy, just ratchet your DEF up, and an easy T1 super defense would be his speedy shadow dodge gimmick. Being part of Umbrella also means informational control, so you might be able to weave enhanced senses into a tracking bug that you can place on opponents if they're slippery. I'd call in Assists to do the gun shooting, for the most part, that way you can stand back and chuckle while they're getting their nuts blown off.

Also consider that Wesker is liek...soooper dooper smurt. So he'd probably think of new ways to break his mold in the Omniverse. Other than that, I'd capitalize on your burst movement as much as possible. Maybe find ways to move in three dimensions, like bounding off walls or straight up standing on the ceiling. I dunno what else you're looking for, cuz it seems like you answered your own questions. :frog:

RE: Moveset Analysis - Tearen Wover - 06-28-2017

Cell: Your moveset is pretty solid, yeah. Obviously you'll want some supers to capitalize on your regen, but other than that, you seem pretty well-rounded. Perhaps some moves that re-position the enemy, like punching people a few dozen meters, but sources say you're gonna drink some soon anyway so...yeah, I don't have much to say.

RE: Moveset Analysis - Tearen Wover - 06-28-2017

Dante: Hmmmm...

Hmmm...

Hm...

That's...a lot of Moves.

The thing that really stands out to me, at this point, is that Dante has himself totally and completely covered. He has decent firepower at multiple ranges of engagement, with some extra pepper for both Melee and Ranged if he needs it. That said, it occurs to me that Dante benefits from basically constantly always being in his opponent's face, so I think some more movement options would behoove his Spec. A simpler, more reliable way to close the distance if he needs it. His two weapons that really stand out to me are the rocket launcher and the nightmare cannon, primarily because one can reposition enemies and one can potentially get at people behind cover. Maybe if he had some weapon moves for these two gadgets, he could find more ways to constantly draw a bead on his opponent.

The BIGGEST thing to me, at this point, is that Dante probably has room to start expanding into team-centric attacks or buffs, since his personal moves are so swole. The redundancies there aren't as bad as I was expecting, but finding ways to use his stuff creatively with other people might go a long way. Addendum to that, Assists may be in order at this point.

...BUT failing any of that bulljank, I think the biggest priority by for Dante at the moment is a T2 Power Up. After all, who needs teammates when you have 20 stats to throw around?

RE: Moveset Analysis - Cirno - 06-28-2017

Chara and Cirno probably need serious checks on there move sets (I plan on getting stuff for Cirno still so don't worry, and Chara still has some moves to get also)

RE: Moveset Analysis - Todd Ingram - 06-29-2017

Was just Reading This thread. Could You humor me and take a look at Yu Kanda? Im currently creating two support/utility moves which come in handy during a fight. But he is not a team player, every move will be centered around himself and himself alone.

RE: Moveset Analysis - Tearen Wover - 06-29-2017

Cirno:

It seems as though you have a solid foundation for Cirno going at the moment, at least in regards to her offensive ice powers. I'd avoid buying new direct attacks for a while and focus on your ground air game. Purchase Burst Movement and make a dash move with it to make the most of your high speed stat, and Debuff so that you can begin to make moves that slow enemies down.

A T1 Power-Up that makes you even faster would be beneficial. Based on your DA fights, it's your stupid speed that has been your biggest asset. If you're able to accelerate even harder and faster, while simultaneously slowing your enemies to a crawl, you have the makings of a pretty dominating fighter.

Chara: Could you please clean up your move section a bit?
