Digimon Partnering Thread - Tearen Wover - 05-09-2017
Hello there,
So, in a time long passed, I used to be an immense digimon nerd. I enjoyed figuring out digivolution lines and making my own monsters, etc. Bottom line is that I'm pretty proficient at this kind of thing.
This thread is obviously nothing official, but on the off chance someone isn't sure what digimon they would want if they took the dataverse quest, I can offer them an option(s). Also, if anyone has any questions about digimon in general, I can probably answer them.
Just a quick note about how I make my selection; digimon obviously tend to reflect certain aspects of their partners, but they just as often act as foils to certain parts of the partner's personalities. This is done in an attempt to encourage partners to grow and learn from their digimon.
Upshot is basically, if you're a gritty edgelord supreme and I give you a kitten, it's not because I'm messing with you. It's because that's what's gonna round you out.
Please form an orderly line.

For Amaterasu I wanted to put together a line that started off kind of foreign to her (technology/gears) and gradually grew more familiar, culminating in a fusion between the concepts of tradition and progress. On top of that, aside from the obvious sun-inspired overtones, fire is the most destructive natural force. Destruction is not something that Amaterasu relishes, but Solarmon loves it, despite being good at heart.
Learning to not only reconcile but cherish their differences while still being comfortable with the fact her partner IS good at heart seems pretty appropriate for our favorite doge kami.

Yes, these all look very silly at first.
But that's just the thing. Marcus Wright is hands-down one of the most focused, serious, down-to-earth Primes in the Omniverse. On top of that, unlike most Primes, he doesn't really have a heightened opinion of himself, no delusions of grandeur, or even any specific ambitions, aside from making sure Skynet doesn't happen.
Which is great, but he needs a little help to think big. Enter Etemon, though it will take a while for this pair to get that far. Partnering a cyborg soldier with a series of half-feral scoundrels may seem like a bad idea, but Marcus is a soldier, and if this his assignment, he'll take it. Besides, sneer at Etemon all you like, but he IS extremely powerful. Most importantly, there's Metal Etemon, who I think it would be very important for Marcus to meet. Here is a creature that is part machine, part organic, and has ABSOLUTELY NO HANG UPS ABOUT THAT. I feel like these two characters could encourage qualities of self-acceptance and humility in one-another, respectively.

Here's a little secret about digimon.
We're all familiar with how the kids in the original series had partners that encouraged the best qualities about them, and made them strive to be better people and better heroes. This causes a bit of a natural misconception that digimon partners try to steer their friends towards the path of good. That's not quite it.
Digimon try to encourage their partners to become the strongest person they can be, because fundamentally it is a symbiotic relationship. A stronger partner means a stronger digimon.
God Enel is a man who is disgusted by the need for help from anyone, let alone anyone who also isn't somewhat of a deity themselves. That's why it was necessary to partner him with a devimon line that eventually turns into one of the most powerful digimon known in the Dataverse. On the flip side, Enel would really only get to enjoy this power once he realized Black Agumon's hidden potential, and realized that working with someone isn't a weakness. Sure, Enel has had underlings before, but never a real PARTNER. Whether or not this makes Enel a better person is up for debate, but whether you like it or not, that's personal growth.
Also Marin Devimon because pirates. Yup.

Oh this sounds fun, have considered getting Vic a digimon at some point and have a few ideas of my own. (The beelzemon line comes to mind) but would love to see what your always insightful mind comes up with Neal
Also off topic but I have watched everything up to tamers, any of the other seasons worth checking out? Data squad doesn't look to promising.
