Characters - James Knight - 05-02-2017
Say someone plays "Jason Todd - The Red Hood" would someone be allowed to make a different version of the same character named for example "Jason Wayne" or something along those lines? It is something i have been thinking of, but am not entirely sure about. As such I need the answer within a few days, as I'll be swapping out Sombra for a new char. Depending on the answer, I may or may not use this idea.

This sounds like it would be a no. Especially since it sounds like it's just changing a name but the character is essentially the same.

Different in that key events in their history were changed, and some events were added to their history as well. Like for example how the other player of Jason left out the events of "Return of the Joker" but my version would incorporate that into his backstory, slightly altered of course.

They aren't. For one, weapons would be different (as per my plans) as would costume design for him. However if need be I'll abandon this idea and think up another char to swap to.

Why not just do Damien Wayne, Bruce's actual son?
Weapons and slight tweaks to the backstory and costume ain't enough. It falls under the "Link" conundrum. Each Link is technically a different person, but because they're so similar we don't allow more than one. Same for, say, Android 17. Alex's 17 has a greatly divergent history and moveset from the 17 in DBZ. But because that 17 is here, another 17 can't join.

I wasn't doing Damien, because I've NEVER rped as him. Of the Waynes, there's maybe three I could play and two of them are from the Batman Beyond Universe while one of them is Jason. It provides a connundrum as to who I was going to make.

Cell is correct. The character, as it is now, is not justifiably different.
