Anime is real, right?!?! - Undyne - 04-04-2017 As the Undertale-players among you may know, Undyne is fascinated by anime, which is something I want to bring into the Omniverse, for no reason other than it'd be fun (and fitting her character). And I need you guys's help! What cliché anime lines, phrases, behaviors and other tropes can you think of? Examples for phrases would be "I will protect those who I love" and "Don't underestimate me!", and cliché behaviors could be a character holding an entire speech while clashing swords with their opponent - you get the idea. The more cliché the better :hee: (Doesn't have to be 'fighting' anime!) Disclaimer: Any things you post on here may or may not be egregiously overused by my characters, especially Undyne.
Personal Notes -Calling one's attacks. -"Nobody has ever survived/escaped/countered/defeated this" => The target survives/escapes/counters/defeats it. -Scars have emotional stories behind them (Undyne's missing eye?) -The more one brags the less competent they are (in that particular fight). -The main character in a Highschool MUST always at one point of another, sit in the third row window on the left side. <== Undyne picks out a 'hero aide' based specifically on this? -The nicest people are usually either the true villain or have a berserk button or other hidden secret.
RE: Anime is real, right?!?! - King Ghidorah - 04-04-2017 The wide-eyed downward stare while an excruciatingly long plot-relevant internal monologue regarding some shocking epiphany takes place is always a favorite. Bonus points for quaking eyeballs. Also, "Now I'll show you... my true POWWEEEERRRR!" RE: Anime is real, right?!?! - Mark - 04-04-2017 "I NEED TO GET STRONGER." "You bastard! *angry grunting/glaring*" Scenes where the character eats 50 plates of food in under a minute. Despite losing gallons of blood, the protagonist is still able to not only hold a coherent conversation but parry the strikes of his 8 foot tall 300 pound opponent. RE: Anime is real, right?!?! - Aadibah - 04-04-2017 Spam "Shinae" (die) or "YAMEROOOOOOO" (saying no but like a battle cry). There's also shiruka boke (why would I know, idiot?). Also if she's getting rekt there's "YAMATE" (please stop!) RE: Anime is real, right?!?! - King Ghidorah - 04-04-2017 Giving semi-not-really-plausible explanations for the mechanism of attacks/powers and then proceeding to use them in ways that completely violate the explanation as given. Total inability to tell time - (Namek will explode in five minutes, The World can freeze time for five seconds, the bomb will go off in thirty seconds, and on and on...) RE: Anime is real, right?!?! - Handsome Jack - 04-04-2017 You should spend 20 posts just screaming gutterally as you power up. Also Undyne should punch herself in the face to give herself nose bleeds when she sees someone attractive. She should assume that any young child or ridiculously old guy is secretly amazingly powerful. RE: Anime is real, right?!?! - Ash Williams - 04-04-2017 What about having fillers in some posts that interfere with the story that anime does sometimes. That's all I got that someone hasn't covered yet. RE: Anime is real, right?!?! - Tearen Wover - 04-04-2017 Beach/Hot spring/Pool episode RE: Anime is real, right?!?! - Omni - 04-04-2017 Cutesy creature sidekick to whom the laws of physics and logic apply far more loosely. Usually has some sort of shapeshifting power or other useful/useless utility abilities like flying. (See: Puck from Berserk, Happy from Fairy Tail) Female sidekick who is always mad at you for some reason. She's also a sort of singularity whereby your innocuous deeds always get misconstrued as shameful when in her proximity through sheer bad luck, which will result in physical assault. Regardless of the fact that your character is a super-demigod and she is a regular girl, this will always hurt you regardless. (see: Nami from One Piece, Bulma from DBZ) Rival who always has his hands in his pockets and is scratching his nose nonchalantly. Despite being a twinkish waif with no muscles, you better watch the fuck out because he has some inexplicable bullshit powers despite never training a day in his life (see: Sasuke from Naruto, Killua from Hunter x Hunter) RE: Anime is real, right?!?! - Skeletor - 04-04-2017 waiting for your opponent to explain exactly how their move works and or charge up their attack. (bonus points if you get shaken up by what they're saying and make "Tch!" or sharp inhale during their speech) RE: Anime is real, right?!?! - Yu Kanda - 04-04-2017 Have female characters grow bigger boobs and get smaller waists as the series continues ( one piece females...seriously) RE: Anime is real, right?!?! - Undyne - 04-05-2017 :frog: Well then. I hadn't expected this thread to blow up this much... but, I appreciate all the input! Now to find out how I can include them into the Omniverse (and no, Undyne is not getting bigger boobs with each thread <_< ) RE: Anime is real, right?!?! - Desman Black - 04-05-2017 "My freinds are my power!" "Their sacrifice will no be in vain!" Bring in far too many characters in your stories Giant Robots! Overly-abusive females. ALWAYS have someone who knows how to cook. And make everyone constantly hungry. Villans who explain everything about their plans. Thumps up. Arms over head. RE: Anime is real, right?!?! - Hiro Protagonist - 04-05-2017 The detached debauched samurai who is lazy but surprisingly lethal. -waves- yes hello. RE: Anime is real, right?!?! - ElFailzalot - 04-05-2017 Characters repeatedly asking "What do you want?" / "What do you mean?" Someone asking "What?!" immediately followed by "I-Impossible!" / "N-No way!" Someone repeating an entire sentence that someone else said in the form of a question. Often multiple people repeating parts of said sentence one after the other. RE: Anime is real, right?!?! - Omni - 04-05-2017 (04-05-2017, 09:43 AM)ElFailzalot Wrote: Characters repeatedly asking "What do you want?" / "What do you mean?" Oh god. Just thinking about these made me angry. RE: Anime is real, right?!?! - Jacket - 04-05-2017 How about characters having gender-bending moments. I see that in anime. :frog: RE: Anime is real, right?!?! - Amaterasu - 04-05-2017 (04-05-2017, 09:43 AM)ElFailzalot Wrote: Characters repeatedly asking "What do you want?" / "What do you mean?" That last one. Frames of each person saying one or two words then skipping to the next one, possibly with sounds for emphasis. RE: Anime is real, right?!?! - ElFailzalot - 04-05-2017 SIDE! CHARACTERS! AGGRESSIVELY! NARRATING THE ACTIONS OF THEIR ALLIES! WITH! MASSIVE! EMPHASIS! RE: Anime is real, right?!?! - Arle Nadja - 04-08-2017 My favorite thing ever in anime is when the rival of the week replaces themselves with a clone or sets up some other form of trap without the potagonist noticing, even though they were staring the dude down the entire time. Apparently if the camera isn't on the rival, the protagonist can't see them either. I'm looking at you, Naruto. For a less illogical but still infuriating version, see: Dodging with instant teleportation! See also: Anime things that made their way into RP scenes and haunted my childhood. Also, when the big bad is just so tuff and you can really tell they're so tuff because they aren't even hurt by the protagonist's attacks. They just get punched in the face and it's like it didn't even happen. It's so much like it didn't happen in fact that I kinda wish they'd just skip to the part where something does happen. See also: the shonen trope wherein all fights must be dragged out at an unreasonable pace because it's just not "epic" enough if every single fight doesn't have more twists and turns than a rollercoaster. Bonus points if they were stronger the entire time but were just waiting to make sure they actually had to give the fight their best. |
