dimmed. - Touko Fukawa - 03-01-2018 80 miles an hour was a frighteningly high speed for such a vehicle. God knew Fukawa probably needed some sort of... seat belt. Helmet. Anything. She was convinced she would be thrown from this scooter and killed instantly any second now. But for some reason the threat of death felt so near and, well, not exactly dear, but ingrained in her psyche, to her she really... had trouble caring. Not that she didn't understand the concept of death, but rather that she understood it so well it had lost some impact. ...She wasn't sure that was a good thing. But even though she had closed her eyes tightly for the ride, she could certainly feel when the scooter crossed over into the Moors. The impact of tires against now hardly-paved road compared to the entirely flat ground of the Nexus hit her like a swift punch in the chest. Well, more dull than a punch- rather, more like being caught in an explosion, which she hated to admit having enough experience with for the comparison. Thankfully, as she wobbled somewhat, trying to regain her balance, the driver of the vehicle slowed down- bringing the vehicle to a stop at the side of the road. "We're here." Stated the young man she was travelling with, taking just a quick glance(? it was debatable if it could be called that, with his eyes closed) back at his passenger. "...Y-you don't say..." Fukawa was grumbling mostly to herself, though she opened her eyes to investigate the world around her now. Yeah, it certainly was different- overcast and dull, with rolling hills mostly devoid of human interference. It... Honestly didn't look like anywhere she could place. But at least it looked real, right? That was some improvement from whatever big white building they were in before. Once again the only evidence of human life seemed to be on the horizon- what may have been some sort of town or at least settlement in the distance. It didn't exactly seem like any sort of sprawling city or anything, certainly not the most modern place, but... Once again, she told herself, it was better than nothing. It was always better than nothing. At least if there were people there she may not, y'know, starve to death. Not that she was too worried about that- it took longer than one would think. "Hmph... Not... Sure what I expected..." Fukawa bit her thumb again, glancing at the semi-paved ground below. Yeah, this was about as shitty as she should have been expecting. There was no reason to be optimistic with the description she was given before. "I... I guess I don't blame you for choosing such a gloomy place f-for... someone like me..." Again, this last part was loud enough Leo could hear it, but seemingly not directed at him- more just directed at the situation in general. Fukawa seemed to talk to herself a lot. Quote:alrightyyyyy here we are, in the moors, RE: dimmed. - Leonardo Watch - 03-06-2018 Leo was a good driver. It's not like he almost lost balance the moment he crossed the portal to the barely paved road and let himself and his passenger fall down on a vehicle at 80mph. Not at all. Not even close. Hah. A quick glance after he stopped the bike proved the place to be safe enough to keep going. Knowing there could be any kind of monster lurking out there, he came more than prepared to keep an eye on the surroundings. In fact, that was the plan: look around and pay attention for anything hiding and/or stalking him, and avoid it. With his vision, it shouldn't be that hard. He heard Fukawa say something, but he didn't quite register it, save for the last comment. "Well, if it makes you feel better", he said, addressing that last comment. "I didn't choose this place for you. I have package a to deliver, so that's where I'm going. I won't mind taking you anywhere you want though, or even you coming along; whatever you chose" It's not like he was in a hurry; his boss already expected him to fail. "And speaking of the package..." He took out his phone to check out his destination one last time. That town on the distance should be Darkshire; the guy he was looking for lived in a cabin past from it, near a lake far away from the road, in the middle of the forest. He'll have to walk that last stretch, but he was ok with it. He showed the girl the map he had on his phone."This is that town on the horizon–", he said, pointing out a little spot on the map "–and here's where I'm going", now pointing a red triangle. From what he heard, that place was particularly filled with monsters, but he already told her that, so no need to repeat himself. "So, what do you say?" Please say no. Please say no. Please say no... RE: dimmed. - Touko Fukawa - 03-12-2018 Staring at the sillhouette of Darkshire in the distance, Fukawa resettled herself on the scooter's seat with something of a noncommital grunt. She didn't have to like it- well, she didn't like it at all- but she needed to put up with this stupid journey through stupid monstertown because... well, to be honest, because she was not about to just ask someone to go out of the way for her. Not out of pride or anything like that, but just out of sheer lack of knowledge on social customs. And she wasn't about to make an ass of herself trying. It would be less painful to just shut up and die. When Leo showed her the map of the direction they were going, she traced it vaguely with her eyes, not really storing the information whatsoever. How could she? She wasn't about to memorize an entire map in moments, like some sort of cartography savant- and she still had no experience with the surrouding area beyond a quick visual survey. It was a ways, but the scooter was fast, and presumably they could stop. "It d-doesn't matter... If you just dump me in town, I'll... j-just have to figure things out from there." This was not an encouraging proclamation from Fukawa, but she wasn't willing to give a more serious answer- as she wasn't sure herself what she wanted to do. She was more confused than anything else, really. It felt like she was forgetting something extremely important. And not just how she got here, what she was doing beforehand, where she even was, and almost literally everything else. Quote:hurgh, i have no excuse as to why this horrible post took so long. RE: dimmed. - Leonardo Watch - 03-18-2018 Save for the scooter's motor and the tires hitting the ground road below, the trip was quiet. So quiet... It's incredible how silent this place was. One would expect birds chirping or bugs singing or something, but nothing pointed at some sort of life around, save for the muddled grass. The thick clouds above and the faint mist in the surroundings didn't help. All in all, the place was as creepy as it could get. The town wasn't much different. There were guards who eyed them as they went through the open gates, but the streets were empty. They passed a few shops, but all of them were closed. One of them had cracked windows and blood splattered inside, but no bodies to be seen. It looked like a tavern, but Leo didn't give it much thought. He stopped the scooter. "Well, I thought we'd find someplace to rest in here before the last stretch, but it seems we'll have to head direc–", something caught his attention on the corner of his eye. "Wait" Behind the wall of an alleyway, there was a woman hiding. She was wearing a long gray dress worn on an almost skeletical body. Heavy eyebags with pronounced wrinkles marked her face, and she had a melancholic expression. Leo kept looking at her direction, until she tried to peak on them from behind the wall, probably not aware that he was seeing through it. Once she realized he knew she was there it's when she stepped out of the alleyway, now facing both him and Touka. "E-excuse me, young kids, b-but if you wouldn't mind...", she said. "Yes?", he said. Touka was kept silent. "I c-can't help but notice y-you're not from around here...". Her gaze turned away from them. "A-are you, by any chance, p-primes?" "Why would you want to know that?" "I... A b-beast had been lurking around h-here, and my d-daughter... I d-don't have much, I can't pay a bounty, b-but if you can... D-do me that favor... P-please... I'll repay you with everything I c-can..." A kidnapping? A murder? Mmhh... Not answering the woman, he glanced at Touka. Quote:Play the old hag if you want. The stuttering is not out of shyness. She's also a naturally wary woman, although right now she's not fearing anything |
