Redesign Alternate Forms? - The Vision - 02-18-2017 Okay so.. With 1000 OM and 1 SP per turn you get to boost your stats (Power-Up) 2000 OM you get to change stats completely (Alternate Form) Or for 1000 OM and 1 SP per turn you get to change AND boost them. (Powered-Up Form). Since a Powered-Up Form essentially combines the benefits of both things, why is it the exact same price as only one of those things? What do you guys think? Posting link to rules for quick access: http://omniverse-rpg.com/assistsandtransformations.php#Assists_And_Transformations RE: Redesign Alternate Forms? - Schwi Dola - 02-18-2017 There is a huge difference. Alternate Forms can be used with any power up whereas Powered Forms are restricted to the same stats every time. Consider this math. 4 Tier 1 Powered Forms = 4000 OM cost, four combinations of stats 1 Alternate Form + 2 Power-Ups = 4000 OM cost, four combinations of stats. (base form and alt form in both power up states) 8 Tier 1 Powered Forms = 8000 OM cost, 8 combinations of stats 1 Alternate Form + 6 Power-Ups = 8000 OM cost, 12 combinations of stats Alternate forms are used for utility with Power-Ups while Powered Forms can somewhat break the stat restriction of Power-Up. Power Up gets 5 stats but need to be spread around, whereas Desco could get a Powered Form that adds 5 to Speed compared to her base form. RE: Redesign Alternate Forms? - King Ghidorah - 02-18-2017 That looks like Desco just mathematically proved that in terms of raw utility per-cost and utility-per purchase, Powered up forms ARE actually more expensive. So I guess there's not a problem? RE: Redesign Alternate Forms? - The Vision - 02-18-2017 I see your point Desco but first of all, it seems that the differences become visible come 8th form. Who's gonna buy 8 forms??? Of course, someone might, but it's much more likely for someone to have one or two. Also, changing Alternate Forms takes time depending on your SPD, whereas Power-Ups seem more or less instant. (Don't quote me on that) If SPD affects them all equally obviously it doesn't matter. My math isn't as good as Desco's, so I'm not sure how that affects things. RE: Redesign Alternate Forms? - Amaterasu - 02-18-2017 The changes would become appearant as soon as you purchase a 5th T1 Power-Up. Also, Desco did not take into account that there's T2 and T3 Power-Ups and Power-Up Forms which cost more and thus throw off the math... I'll post a spreadsheet in an hour or so to show
RE: Redesign Alternate Forms? - King Ghidorah - 02-18-2017 And it would still be more efficient in terms of number of purchases to just go with the alternate form + powerup, even at less than five. One alt-form and one power-up gets you four stat set-ups, whereas two powered-up forms nets you only three. The real advantage, I feel, that powered-up forms offer is in that they allow major physical transformations, with a matching stat-set-up, whereas power-ups do not. I believe this was their intended use, in fact - to allow such a thing without the person having to buy both an alt-form and a powerup. That's probably why they suffer in terms of raw utility as opposed to the other route - they were designed with a specific use in mind. It's not quite perfect because you can't purchase Power-Up Forms of different tiers but I'll work on that a bit. RE: Redesign Alternate Forms? - The Vision - 02-18-2017 Okey dokey. My uneasiness is eased. |
