Jojo's Random Original Character Generation Thingy - Joline - 11-29-2016 So I got an idea, and we all know that's a dangerous thing. I decided I'd try and make an RNG-based original character creation system using the rules and stuff here, so I did. I'm sharing it with you because I'm really interested in seeing how many holes there are in it, and further, if anybody's interested in trying it and maybe coming up with something cool using it. I'd like to be perfectly clear here - I'm not trying to make things gamey. My hope is to give people food for thought and ideas if they'd like to make original characters. You can make a lot of cool stuff with the Omniverse's powers and proficiencies, so I think randomizing combinations of things could make for some interesting characters. Explaining how they ended up with this stuff in their home universe, for one, could be neat. How do they cope with, say, their physical form changing into an unfamiliar one at will (flavoured Shapeshifting), or with the innate ability to control every living being's "internal clock" (Time Manipulation), or everything something does literally shaping them (Integration)? More importantly, how do other people perceive these things back home? Was it seen as something to be shunned or celebrated? How have your abilities shaped your character's view of life and the world? There's so much to take into account! Of course, another important point is to make sure your character isn't entirely defined by their abilities, and... I'm... I'm rambling. You just go do the thing, and see what you end up with, if you'd like. Or just point out flaws in this, and maybe I'll patch 'em up if I've got the time. :frogpipe: Oh, and before I forget - here's a handy dice roller. Step 1 - Starting Proficiencies: Roll 1d2 (Flip a coin). 1 = Physical Strength 2 = Ranged Roll 1d9 up to two times. 1 = Physical Strength 2 = Ranged 3 = Area Attack 4 = Area Shield 5 = Ranged Materialize 6 = Remote Control 7 = Homing 8 = Buff 9 = Debuff Step 2 - Starting Powers: Roll 1d6. Roll for 2-3 powers or until 4100 OM has been spent overall. 1 = Movement 2 = Physical Manipulation 3 = Sensory 4 = Subterfuge 5 = Spatial 6 = Survival If 1 = true, roll 1d4. 1 = Super Speed 2 = Burst Movement 3 = Super Jumping -- 3 . 1 = Basic -- 3 . 2 = Advanced -- 3 . 3 = Master -- 3 . 4 = Flight 4 = Master Acrobat If 2 = true, roll 1d10. 1 = Elasticity 2 = Malleability 3 = Shapeshifting 4 = Growth 5 = Shrink 6 = Integration 7 = Mimic 8 = Hive Mind -- 8 . 1 = Disassemble 9 = Phasing 10 = Fusion (1d4) -- 10 . 1 = Basic -- 10 . 2 = Advanced -- 10 . 3 = Master -- 10 . 4 = Symbiosis If 3 = true, roll 1d4. 1 = Enhanced Senses (1d3) -- 1 . 1 = Basic -- 1 . 2 = Advanced -- 1 . 3 = Master 2 = Insight 3 = Foresight 4 = Telepathy If 4 = true, roll 1d2 (flip a coin). 1 = Stealth 2 = Suppression If 5 = true, roll 1d3. 1 = Telekinesis (1d2) -- 1 . 1 = Basic -- 1 . 2 = Advanced 2 = Teleportation (1d3) -- 2 . 1 = Basic -- 2 . 2 = Advanced -- 2 . 3 = Master 3 = Time Manipulation If 6 = true, roll 1d3. 1 = Regeneration (1d2) -- 1 . 1 = Basic -- 1 . 2 = Advanced 2 = Healing 3 = Survival Step 3: Stats Roll 1d6 four times. A 1 counts as a 0, a 2 counts as a 1, so on, so on. Lower each of your results by 1, starting with the lowest (or highest, if you’re lame), until your results add up to 10. Raise if your rolls were just really bad. If you tied everything and can’t add in ascending or descending order, reroll. These are, in order, your stats. Your first roll is ATK, your second is DEF, your third is SPD and your fourth is TEC. Step 4 [Optional]: Moves You should have somewhere between 3 and 6 Proficiencies/Powers. 1d(# of Proficiencies/Powers you have) twice. Find a way to combine these in such a way that it makes a bit of sense. Congratulations! You have your character’s ‘signature’ move. Do the same thing again. This is why you want at least 900 OM. These will combine to make your character’s ‘signature’ weapon, tool or other piece of equipment. You may want it to have two starting functions or applications, or you might want your ‘signature’ move to have two starting functions or applications, hence 900 OM. And... that's about it! Unless I forgot something. If I did, feel free to point it out to me! |
