!!Fall Drabble Contest!! - Jade Harley - 09-29-2016
Hey everyone! I am delighted to announce a very exciting thing that is sure to challenge you all--- THE FALL DRABBLE CONTEST!!!!!
What is a drabble, though? A drabble is a 100 word story, exactly 100 words. Did you get that? Exactly 100 words. No more, no less! Write a story for me that is exactly 100 words by the end of October, and I'll give you a reward. Interpret the theme however you like, but please stay within 100 words.
THE REWARDS ARE NOT OM. They will be Steam games within certain price ranges depending on if you win 1st, 2nd or 3rd.
THEME: Fall (from Halloween to the leaves changing color to ghosts and goblins etc. etc. It can even just be a story where the season is fall.). It can be based around your character or something entirely unrelated to the Omniverse.
TIME LIMIT: Until roughly November 1st.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be within the bounds of 100 words.
- Must be fall-related.
- Must have a Steam account!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lastly, I will be judging based on my personal opinion of the drabbles. There's going to be 3 winners so please don't get salty with me, thank you.

My sister.
“Come on, guess,” she says.
“I dunno, what?”
“Heh - a nightmare!”
November. She’s telling me jokes.
“Oh. A horse that only runs at night. Heh.”
She’s laughing. “Oh, why was Cinderella-”
“I wanna ask something.”
Pause.
“What?”
“Do you have cancer?”
Pause.
“How-”
“Mom. What kind?”
Bitter laugh. “Testicular.”
I smile sadly. She glares, starts crying.
“No, don’t you dare. I don’t want it, not from you. I don’t want the ‘I’m so sorry’s, alright? I don’t want any of it.”
Pause.
“Hey.”
“What do you call a horse that only runs at night?”
Martha smiles.

A modern day superman…
With no powers.
A predetermined destiny, one already foreseen. One who cannot change when their time came in the future. Lies told to protect the man who would save the human race.
For what cost..?
People who died in your name
A fake messiah?
Or
A hero?
A man breathing out words in a speaker bringing hope to everyone laid his hands to speak his final words.

Of Monsters and Men
[spoiler]Behind the prison’s bars and slick walls the monster creeped. Creeping into her mind like a demon. She was his toy, his newest plaything. Every night he crawled into her skull, into her skin, and forced his truth upon her. Forced his truth inside her. She began to crack, microfractures at first, then splits and fissures.
Empty eyes looked to him. Bloody fingers and sunken in eyes yellowed with starvation. Finally he gave it to her, after withholding for so long. She threw her weak frame at him, clawing and crying for more, for just a taste more. Anything. [/spoiler]
Fall is the season where things whither away and die to the coming winter frost. Fall is the season of death- if you'd like to call it such.

As he exited the pharmacy, Drake watched the leaves swirling together in the shadow of his car, as if seeking consolation in numbers against the cold air. A melancholy thought, perhaps, but Alex's unexpected pregnancy weighed on his mind like an oppressive Autumn morning fog.
She was determined to keep it, just like their first surprise. It was a bittersweet tonic, like the iced tea he was treating himself to. A bottle of panacea to keep the darker thoughts at bay.
Though... perhaps he should stop trying to repress his true feelings. October was the month for fear, after all.
