Help Spend Alex's Money - Alex - 08-02-2016

I'm determining whether I should purchase Final Fantasy 7 or Final Fantasy 8 through Steam.  Not that I really have free time, but you know, "priorities."

It's probably been a solid decade since I bothered with either of the games.  I'm leaning toward FF8, because I think I liked that one better.  I played FF7 a little after-the-fact and didn't buy into it as much as other people in my age bracket.

Bonus Question - "What's your favorite Final Fantasy Game?"  For me, it'll always be Nine.  Along with another JRPG that I love but won't mention, I got FF9 for Christmas back in 2000.  Was my first exposure to that genre (RPGs).  No, seriously.  I loved the game.  Great music.  Great characters.  Great plot.  Pacing felt pretty good and what later became 'grinding' was something I did optionally to get the abilities you could learn from gear.  (I already own FF9 on Steam -- Good stuff)

Favorite's definitely III/VI.

I have FFVII for Steam. Bought it 'cuz nostalgia. I'll be honest... it does not age well. At all. If you're already leaning toward VIII, maybe get that. I don't think you'll be pleasantly surprised by VII.

Wrong forum <_<

Anyway - Final Fantasy!

I preferred ff8 myself.

My suggestion? Phantom Brave.

It is another JRPG, a little more niche, but I loved it back in the day. The fighting is very different to the Final Fantasy series, but the story always felt very Final Fantasy-esque (the lead has a lot of parallels to Princess Garnet in particular).

It also has the benefit of having a free demo available so you can try it out, decide whether you'd like it, and then make a decision: http://store.steampowered.com/app/409870/

Is that port good? The Disgaea 1 port they did before it was riddled with issues.

I don't know, I haven't bought it - I have it for PS2 so if I get the urge to play it ... I can. Tongue

Reviews are overwhelmingly positive though (61 positive vs 2 negative)

I bought seven but I know I'm going to want to play eight too.

PS bought seven during the steam sale (unless im mistaken)

Eight is my favorite, to be honest.

RE: Help Spend Alex's Money - Deadpool - 08-07-2016

Out of all the FF games my favorite is X. Followed by IX

Oh yeah, FF Tactics deserves some love too

RE: Help Spend Alex's Money - Asriel Dreemurr - 08-16-2016

III is my favorite, because it's the only one I've played.

RE: Help Spend Alex's Money - Creatia - 08-17-2016

If this is still a thing, I'd say 8. You shan't be disappoint either way.

Favorite FF game? You're trying to kill me. Uh... VII. No VIII! Honestly, it's a tie between those two. X holds my love too. Yuna, okay?
