Familiarity - Koal - 07-26-2016

"I can make you strong."
"But at what price? What will I have to give you in return for vengeance."
"...nothing less than who you are. You give me your soul, and I promise you the power to send the whelps that tortured you into oblivion."
"I accept."

Koal shot up, his chest heaving as his lungs screamed for air. Violet eyes, hidden behind ebony hair, were wide with fear. Not fear of anything external, but a fear of himself. He felt hot tears spill from the corners of his eyes, a stark contrast to his frigid skin. He could feel the needles puncturing his flesh, the poison slowly eating him from the inside. He could hear the whispers. The horrible whispers, that promised an end to his pain, the ones that told him to submit. He could hear them even now, after the being that calls itself Omni brought him to his toy-box world. He felt a familiar anger build up behind the sorrow.

"This is just another twisted experiment, isn't it?" Koal whispered, his eyes downcast and broken. They had taken away his humanity, his life. His chance at having a family like he had always wanted. His mother... He grit his teeth at the thought. What had happened to his mother? Was she safe, or was she dead like all the others? Koal stood abruptly, and  clenched his fist, trying hard to contain an anger that would not recede. It was a losing battle. The Demon felt the shadows on his arms contract, and he let out a feral scream of pure regret and unadulterated rage. His eyes were narrowed to slits and burned with an inner fire that reflected his outward state. But his rage gave way to even more sorrow, and he collapsed back to the white ground. What did he have left to fight for?

"I guess that's why I'm here, then." He whispered, standing to his full height. His mission was to find his purpose once again. And he would be damned if he didn't succeed. As he focused on the horizon, the young man saw several structures dotting the white expanse. And as he spun, he counted eight of them. Interesting enough, but which way to go? Koal began to hum thoughtfully, spinning casually on a heel.

"Maybe that way. That way seems like a good way." He muttered to himself, beginning to walk in a random direction. He didn't know why he felt drawn in this particular direction, nor did he care. He was bored, and walking seemed better than sitting around doing nothing. He broke into a jog, his breathing changing to compensate for the extra movement. It wouldn't be long now.
