Changing Character (Again Again Again): Alarak to MYSTERIO THE MAGNIFICENT - Vulre Oakenlimb - 07-19-2016 This is Okor's alternate character. Character name: Quentin Beck, more commonly known by his Alias of Mysterio Character source: The Amazing Spider-Man Character history: Quentin has led a life that has, unfortunately for many heroes, led him straight to the welcoming fold of Supervillainy. Born in Riverside, California, the youth had aspirations to become a Hollywood Actor, a dream fueled by the Camera gifted to him by an Uncle. Sadly, these hopes were never realized, Beck lacking the rugged good looks, patience, and talent to see his name illuminated by lights. He instead became a special effects artist after a brief stint as a Stuntman, displaying a natural affinity for illusion and trickery. But of course, there is only so far one can go in show business while behind the scenes. In an attempt to further his fame, inspired by a joking aside that the quickest way to the top was to take down a costumed hero, Beck became Mysterio. Forging a new persona, complete with an outfit equipped with every trick and tool of his trade, Beck set out to frame the famed Webhead, using his mastery over deception and illusion to commit numerous robberies while under the guise of Spider-Man. In time, his ruse was revealed due to an unfortunate tendency to monologue, revealing his sinister plot to Parker, unaware of the recording device on the Wallcrawler's person. His scheme revealed and his name dragged through the dirt, Mysterio had no other option but to join the Rogue's Gallery, his near-magical brand of mayhem earning him Spidey's ire. Schemes, scams, and shady deals became his stock and trade, each one building up to the inevitable double/triple/quadruple cross. During his time as a Villain, so many demises had been falsified that his coffin was fitted with a revolving lid. Omni took him from his home dimension after the Events of End of the Earth, when Mysterio betrayed the Sinister Six in the interest of survival, making use of his knowledge of their facilities and technology to help the Webslinger and his companions defeat the Armageddon-bent Doctor Octavius. Physical Description: (originals only) ![]() Mysterio is clad in a skintight suit, as is the fashion among the superpowered. Underneath its surface is a dizzying array of electronics used to manifest his illusions, with the controls located within his gauntlets. His head is concealed beneath a fish-bowl like helmet, its opaque surface hiding a frankly plain face. The Helmet also contains a voice modulator that grants him a voice impressive enough to play the part of a theatrical villain. His body is trim and toned, due to the athletic necessities of his calling. He frequently wears a regal purple cape, which is often used during his acts of misdirection. Stats: ATK: 2 DEF: 1 SPD: 2 TEC: 5 Starting Proficiencies: Ranged Proficiency (1000 OM), Ranged Materialize Proficiency (600 OM), Remote Control Proficiency (600 OM), Physical Strength (1000 OM) Starting Powers: Stealth (1200 OM) Starting Moves: Mirrors (600 OM, requires ranged, ranged materialize, remote control proficiency) Mysterio is the undisputed maestro of illusion and deception. By spending 3 seconds of uninterrupted concentration, he may program a hologram with the aid of his gauntlets, storing a moving image that he can control from up to 25 meters away. Up to 3 images may be stored at a time. This image is nothing more than an image, and cannot physically interact with anything. The image cannot occupy a space greater than 5 Meters cubed. Mysterio must concentrate on controlling the image, and cannot engage directly in combat while doing so. Due to the careful control required, Mysterio cannot use the hologram as a disguise, as it would require a feat of synchronization that is currently beyond his powers. The drain from the illusions is not overly large, although he cannot manifest more than one illusion at once. It takes one second to generate an illusion, during which time any illusion not being actively maintained by Myserio breaks down and fades away over a period of 10 seconds, only displaying blatantly obvious failures during the final 3. A skilled observer can notice the deterioration earlier. Illusions last for as long as Mysterio is within range and can concentrate on controlling them. Any prime with a TEC equal to or higher than Mysterio's can see through the illusion, and enhanced senses allows them to double their TEC for such purposes, provided Mysterio does not posses Surpression. 5,000 out of 5,000 OM Spent I confirm that I have read and agreed to the Rules of Conduct. Yep. Where did you find us? Already here! RE: Changing Character (Again Again Again): Alarak to MYSTERIO THE MAGNIFICENT - Mark - 07-19-2016 This looks excellent. A couple of questions, though, about Mirrors. Why 600? I'm only seeing a single use. What's the overall drain on him/his suit from manifesting the illusions? I don't imagine it would be terribly draining, but just to be sure. After storing an illusion, is casting the illusion instant? Does it persist for as long as he maintains concentration or is there a duration? Also, I'm sure you know this but for posterity I want to note that those with higher TEC will be able to see through the illusion (but with 5 TEC I imagine that wouldn't present a problem in most instances). RE: Changing Character (Again Again Again): Alarak to MYSTERIO THE MAGNIFICENT - Vulre Oakenlimb - 07-19-2016 I have made some changes, let me know if they meet with your approval. The 600 cost is due to the wide variety in possible illusions. RE: Changing Character (Again Again Again): Alarak to MYSTERIO THE MAGNIFICENT - Mark - 07-19-2016 Naw, you wouldn't need to pay extra as long as the illusions only do the one thing. Cosmetic differences are fine. If you could also focus longer to have the illusion maintain itself over a span of time while you run around and participate in mustache-twirly evilness, that would make it 600. As it is I think 300 is fine. Also, do you want your name to be Mysterio, or something else? RE: Changing Character (Again Again Again): Alarak to MYSTERIO THE MAGNIFICENT - Vulre Oakenlimb - 07-19-2016 Made some changes, and Mysterio works perfectly fine, thank you.
