The Beach Episode - Weiss Schnee - 05-31-2016

Weiss shivered slightly as she walked through the portal. Something about these weird, otherworldly doors always made her heart jump a bit when she stepped through. Maybe it was her entire field of vision changing in a split second to something entirely different, or maybe it was just the general weirdness. Weiss wasn't exactly sure.

Ruby, on the other hand, seemed pretty energetic, practically jumping through the portal. Weiss rolled her eyes: how was her partner so enviously good at adjusting to all of this strangeness? For her, it seemed like she treated being in a completely different world as just another adventure. Weiss supposed the real mystery was that she was surprised by this after spending so much time with Ruby. Her cheery partner might have been a team leader, but she never really worried about the details: she just fought monsters, helped people, and did her best to make the world a better place - knowing her, it didn't matter what world.. Weiss would have been envious, but she knew the only reason the scarlet-clad huntress got away with it so often was because she had a certain teen aged perfectionist there to help her out when she made a mistake here or there...

A sudden weight tugging down on Weiss's arm brought her down to earth as Ruby pointed excitedly around the 'verse. "Oh... my god! Weiss! Look around!" Ruby said excitedly.

Weiss was surprised as her skin met the chilly air. she'd heard the Vasty Deeps was more of a tropical place, but the snow around her seemed to say otherwise. a bunch of... eccentrically built buildings were loosely arranged around them, leaving a mostly open view of the area around them. "This looks a bit colder than what I'd expect you to want for a vacation-"
"Never mind that, Weiss! Look!" Ruby insisted, and the Annoyed Schnee had to try very hard to resist the urge to thump Ruby as she forcefully directed Weiss's eyes to the horizon. "there's so much water! it stretches on forever, and goes like everywhere! Have you ever seen something like this before, Weiss?" Ruby asked with an enthusiasm Weiss had trouble believing could exist.
"Well, when the Schnee family went on trips, I occasionally saw the oceans out of a window on the airplane, though I doubt these bodies of water have much in common-"
"Weiss, look at how the sun plays off the water! It's so cool!"

Of course, Weiss smirked to herself. Why would I expect to get in a word edgewise when she's like this?

Weiss felt like she should be irritated, but seeing Ruby's grin right now, as she rushed her down to the water... well, even she could only be so grumpy in the face of that much cheer.

RE: The Beach Episode - Ruby Rose - 07-14-2016

The strange butterflies that fluttered in my tummy every time I passed through one of those doorways were becoming less and less potent as I grew used to the dimension-hopping, but the woozy feeling that swung around my head remained as obnoxious as ever. The excitement of the moment outweighed the dizziness, however, and instead of stumbling to the other side my feet basically skipped across the threshold, my world gently swaying side to side as my boots hit sand... no, not sand, snow! I thought the place we were going to was supposed to be all trees and beaches, not snow!

It was amazing; the sun glistening off the white hill of solid chill, playing off the water like a golden lightshow... it was like nothing I had ever seen before. I was used to seeing snow back on Patch, but water this clear and this brilliant? We never had the chance, Patch or Vale. I could only imagine how much Weiss was rolling her eyes at me, but I just couldn't help the well of excitement that had sprung up inside me!

I skipped on down to the water's edge, just beyond the patch of snowy earth and crouched down, rolling my sleeves back and flattening my frilly skirt around my knees. I carefully peered over my knees and into the water; it was me! The water was so clear I could see my face, every fine detail of it, right down to each individual glint in my eyes! "Weiss! I can see myself super-clearly!" I shouted over my shoulder, and the ice queen began to call back, before seemingly second-guessing herself. I tilted my head like a curious puppy, and she continues on, a more careful tone in her voice. "Yeah, beautiful, hey?" She asked, and I snorted abruptly, grinning mischievously.

It was then that Weiss realized what she had said, her face flushing as red as my cloak, and she turned away in embarrassment. Giggling quietly, I turned back to the water and reached out, scooping my fingers under the surface of the glimmering film, and-

"Oh my goodness, Weiss! The water's warm!" I shouted, my own surprise causing me to lose my balance, and my weight was flung forwards, head-long into the crazy water. The soothing, warm fluid surrounded me as I tossed and turned, fighting with my cape and trying to resurface. Finally my head broke the surface and I gasped, my crimson hood covering my eyes, completely drenched. I sighed irritably, annoyed that I had soaked my entire outfit, and tore the hood from my eyes. "Well... I'm in, I guess. You should join me!" I called out to Weiss, waving a dripping hand at her.

"I will soon, just let me change!" She called back, and I grinned impishly. "No Weiss, you get in now, or I drop you in!" I threatened, hauling my small frame onto the ice, which melted away at the touch of the liquid soaking every inch of me. "No, Ruby, please don't-"

"Come on Weiss, it's not fair!"

"Ruby, this is a good quality-" But she was cut short as a speeding, soaking red streak speared through the air and grasped her around the waist, before dashing back to the water's edge, dropping her into the water just in time for her to shriek, "-DRESS!"

The red figure popped back into the water, and I flung the hood back from my head as I peered at the close-to-fuming Weiss. She seemed to be trying so hard to keep a grumpy look... but my cheeky grin only brought out a mirror image in the Heiress. "You can be bossy when you want to, you know that?" She teased, shaking her head at me. "Hehe~" Was my only reply, to which Weiss responded by pulling my hood back over my eyes and splashing water over my head.

"Doof." She sighed, before following with a giggle.

RE: The Beach Episode - Weiss Schnee - 07-22-2016

Weiss failed to suppress her own giggle, slightly surprised even as she pulled Ruby’s cloak over her head. When had she last laughed like this? Certainly not in the mansion, at least since Winter had moved out of her ancestral home. After the things she’d been through, there was nothing she expected to hear less from herself than a giggle.

What else was she supposed to do when she found herself having so much fun, though?
“Weiss, isn’t this water warm?” she heard Ruby say again.. “I get it Ruby, it’s-” Weiss started, half-way to telling her off for reiterating the same point for a third time in what felt like five seconds, only to realize-

Weiss didn’t feel all that warm. The water seemed a little cold, actually.
“-hmm, you find it warm?” Weiss asked with some interest. Ruby was pretty at home in winter, but she always seemed to need more heat than Weiss did. All of Ruby’s arctic living didn’t normally make up for the Schnee’s natural resilience, granted by their icy semblance. If anything, it should feel warmer to Weiss, not colder. “Yeah! Don’t you?” Ruby asked quizzically.

“Uhm… no.” Weiss said, raising her eyebrows. “Maybe this is weird water or something.” she said with a raised eyebrow.
“Oooor, maybe it’s your semblance coming back!” Ruby said with a grin.
Weiss’s face remained carefully neutral as she turned to answer. “Somehow I’m not sure. There’s plenty of other things I could blame this on other than that, and I’m not one to jump to conclusions…” Weiss lectured, before allowing a little smile to creep on her face. “But… Maybe.”

Ruby’s grin was contagious, as she put a hand in the air. “That’s gotta be it! I knew you’d get it back quick! Three cheers for you getting your semblance back! Hip hip Hoor--...Ehh?” She stammered. Weiss had grabbed one of her arms, even as she lifted herself up to cheer.
Weiss had one arm clasped around Ruby’s shoulder, even as she entwined her other hand around Ruby’s ear.

“Hey, Ruby?” Weiss breathed quietly, her heart pounding as her face got closer.
“Um-umm-ummm I-uh…” Ruby stammered and babbled, her face going red as her eyes ran in every direction to try and avoid Weiss’s gaze.
“...You know…” She said. “I appreciate you cheering me up.” She said with a smirk, as Ruby’s cheeks went so scarlet they blended in with her hood.
“This dress was one of my favorites though.” Weiss said with a teasing tone before gently pushing Ruby over into the water. Weiss thought she’d struggle but to her surprise, her young partner tipped over like a statue as she created a little sploosh when she hit the water. Weiss would have been worried she’d rendered the girl catatonic if she didn’t immediately see a pouty girl rise up from the water.

It took every ounce of Weiss’s willpower to only let out a little snort as she saw Ruby’s chubby-cheeked glare, arms crossed. “Weissss! That’s so mean!” She complained.

“You did something quite similar in the Colosseum if I recall correctly.” Weiss pointed out with a smirk. “Am I not allowed to tease?”

“No!” Ruby exclaimed, and Weiss couldn’t help but feel a little bad with the pain in Ruby’s voice. She’d feel worse if she didn’t know this was just how the brat enjoyed guilting her on the rare occasions that Weiss got her back for one of her little pranks.
“Sigh… you’ll call us even if I buy you ice cream, right?” Weiss asked with a smile. That didn’t mean she couldn’t play along every once in a while, right?”
“Oooh-They-totally-probably-have-ice-cream-I-Just-Realized-because-it’s-a-beach-here!” Ruby exclaimed with a sudden grin, and this time Weiss did laugh just a little at her team-mates sudden jubilation. “Weiss, can you buy me some strawberry ice cream?” the girl whined, and Weiss shook her head at the spaz in mock condemnation (and to avoid looking at her long enough to start giggling uncontrollably at the ridiculous expression on her face)

“I just said I would, you dolt.”

“Or Rocky road!”
“Sure!”
“Oh, or chocolate fudge!”
“If you want.”
“Or maybe do you think they have cookie dough-”
“-You know I’m making you stick to two scoops at a time, right? I’m not letting you get a tower of ice cream to splatter all over my dress.”
“-Whaaaaaaat?”
“You heard me.”

Weiss smiled, even as she get both feet onto dry land. She guessed Ruby was wrong after all. Being on a vacation wasn’t the therapeutic treatment she needed.
Being on a vacation with her was.

RE: The Beach Episode - Ruby Rose - 11-01-2016

So... Weiss getting her Semblance back.  It was amazing!  Of course, we couldn't tell for sure, but it's always best to just stay positive!  My Semblance was still weak too, I quickly realized when thinking about Weiss's; I was nowhere near as fast as before, but I somehow knew I'd be racing through the Omniverse in no time!  However, my excitement was very quickly overshadowed by embarrassment as Weiss got up REAL close to my face, my cheeks got so hot I felt like I was gonna explode!  Until the drenched Ice Queen cut my humiliation down by pushing me into the water, and in my thunderstruck state, all I could do was tip like a capsized ship.  A rather unimpressed expression greeted her once I resurfaced...

But, quick as a fox, my expression flipped once more to sheer excitement; Weiss was gonna buy me ice cream!  It wasn't fair that she wouldn't let me have more than two scoops though... I guess I did kinda deserve it after that prank.  She hauled me back out of the water, and I shook like a dog, spraying water everywhere.  Yes, including on Weiss.

I heard a solid object hit the snow, followed by a shrill croak, like a nightingale's call.  I gasped in surprise as I scooped up the black, ruby-riddled frog and peered at its flickering eyes.  "Garnet!" I exclaimed, having forgotten all about the frozen frog Jade handed me so long ago; it must have thawed while we traveled from the Colosseum to the beach!  The slippery amphibian leaped from my hands and perched upon my shoulder, its perpetually changing eyes staring blankly towards the horizon.  "Onward!  To find the ice cream man!  Or woman!" I commanded, marching along the snowed beach, an amused Weiss in tow.

Twenty Minutes Later

"Could you really have not let me get three scoops?" I whined as I ran my tongue around the pale pink sphere of creamy heaven on top of my mini-ice cream tower. "That triple chocolate fudge one sounded so good..." My complaints were met by Weiss's crossed arms.  "I already said, I don't want to risk you getting ice cream all over my dress," she retorted with a sigh.  I opened my mouth to respond, but really couldn't think of anything logical to say, so I instead resorted to brooding and systematically devouring the ice cream lick by lick.  "Besides, you'll ruing your figure if you eat too much." she explained with a smug look and concerned tone.  My silver eyes perked up, and I stared intently at Weiss.

"Have you even seen Nora eat?"

RE: The Beach Episode - Weiss Schnee - 11-25-2016

"Have you ever seen Nora eat?" Ruby asked with an intense look, and I had to admit - She had a point. Weiss thought about making some response, like "Nora also uses a giant hammer", or "Nora's insanity feeds on her extra calories" - But for once, Weiss figured she'd stop telling her fearless leader what to do and join her in giggling at the question like a five year old instead.

Weiss and Ruby continued to laugh at the question until a slight nudge brought them back down to earth - to her surprise, the guy they’d just bought Ice cream from handed her a little vanilla cone. Weiss opened her mouth to thank the guy, but a gentle smile and a simple gesture silenced her, and she chose to just smile instead. They ate in silence for a little while afterwards, as they walked down the town's boardwalk. Weiss breathed in with a smile, as she held up her ice cream to block the sun from her face.

The little area they found themselves walking through  was a quaint, beachside area - There were a bunch of little stands, all made out of wood and canvas, and selling a bunch of different items that Weiss assumed were catered to tourists. Judging the Omnilium price for a T-shirt was the same amount she could have gotten a feast at the carnival for, she guessed they weren't catering to the smart tourists.

“Hey, Weiss~.” Ruby called sweetly, leaning on her shoulder. Weiss was immediately on her guard, as she saw the sinister grin on the girl’s impish little face.
“What’s that look, Ruby Rose?” Weiss asked with an impassive look. To handle Ruby, one had to learn a steadfast resolve, not giving an inch to her constant little pranks and poking. It wouldn’t stop her in the slightest, but at least you could feel like you didn’t contribute to it.
Ruby didn’t actually answer Weiss with a sentence though. Instead, she grabbed the young heiress by the hand and pulled as hard as she could, running.

“H-hey! Can you go one minute without dragging me off somewhere! Or into something!” Weiss complained, as Ruby dragged her across half the boardwalk at what felt like mach 1. At some point, Weiss had dropped her ice cream, and the drenched huntress just thanked her lucky stars that it seemed like it had dropped somewhere on the boardwalk, rather than on her soaked dress.  “Where - are - you - dragging - me?”
Ruby just smiled back, an impish grin on her face as Weiss realized they were in front of a little black booth of some sort. “We’re getting photos!”

---------------------

Weiss raised her eyebrows. “You want to pay to get some bad-quality photos in a booth? You know we both have our scrolls, right? We don’t need to get photos from some-” Weiss was cut off by a hand pulling her through the curtains, and something in her clicked that no, Ruby was not making this request optional.
“I already put in the rainbow stuff, Weiss. No use complaining about it now. We get a whole bundle of photos together this way!” Ruby said with a smile. “Let’s do a grumpy one first.” her scarlet-haired partner said with a grin.
Well, this one was easy. Weiss swore she almost hit her head on the stupid top of the booth when Ruby pulled her in, so she channeled all that into a displeased glare, which Ruby followed suit with, glaring with her cheeks puffed out.
Okay, maybe this one wasn’t so easy. It took every ounce of willpower the Ivory-haired huntress had not to break out in laughter as she saw her partner’s face. Ruby Rose could do a lot of things. Look scary on command? No. Look adorable in the attempt? Maybe.

As soon as the “click” Sound from the booth sounded, Ruby broke into a grin. “Okay, happy face for this one!”

And on it went, with Ruby specifying one pose or another for what felt like a hundred photos. Weiss wasn’t sure she’d even shown all those emotions on her face until she’d been asked to, though given how specific Ruby was getting one of these…

“Okay, now make a face like you just saw Jaune eating a gigantic booger!”

“Okay, for this one pretend that you just found out that Nora had the power to turn people into pancakes!”

“Alright, now make a face like you just saw the end of ‘Bad dudes with attitude 4’”

“Ruby, I’ve never seen that movie...”

“What?!”

Ruby’s face actually teared up a bit as she realized that Weiss had never seen the movie, her face utterly crestfallen. Over “Bad dudes with Attitude 4.”.
Weiss couldn’t help but laugh in response, giggling right in Ruby’s face, and pretty soon, Ruby ended up laughing too, both of them leaning on each other just to stop themselves from falling over, even as the camera clicked and took the last photo.

--------------------

“So, um, Let’s see…” Ruby said with a squint. “There’s the restaurant with the palm trees and the outdoors-y area… or there’s about eight or so fish-and-chip stands. And a noodle bar!”
Weiss slumped. “Let’s go to the one with the palm trees…” She said dejectedly. Given the price-tag they’d seen on the menu outside of the pink-and-black building, Weiss had figured out this was a restaurant that valued a burger as more Omnilium than most people might value a house! Of course, Weiss and Ruby definitely had more than enough to get in and eat, but it was the principle of the thing!

“We could always just wait and find a place somewhere else, Weiss.” Ruby added, but Weiss shook her hand in her face at that statement.
“Too hungry. I’d like to eat something nice and cooked that I didn’t have to find.” Weiss grumbled. Her stomach groaned loudly in agreement, and Ruby took a step back as she observed Weiss’s stomach with awe at the admittedly loud sound her stomach made.

Ruby smirked as she tried hard not to giggle. “We’ll get an appetizer.”
