John Egbert (switching) - Leonardo Watch - 04-03-2016 Character name: John Egbert Character source: Homestuck Character history: This is the John who dies while crossing the Yellow Yard in the post-retcon timeline. Physical Description: ![]() Stats: ATK: 3 DEF: 1 SPD: 4 TEC: 2 Starting Proficiencies (1600): Ranged – 1000 Area Attack – 600 Starting Powers (3000): Hive mind – 400 Dissasemble – 800 Flight – 1800 Starting Moves (300): Windy Thing – 300 (Ranged, Area Attack) John charges up for half a second, to then fire a small but powerfull gust of wind that pushes everything it passes through. The attack doesn't do damage by itself, but it can if the objective gets pushed to a wall, or if some object gets caught by the wind and hits something. Depending on where John wants to aim, the attack will start 1m behind him relative to the direction of the attack, with an area of 2m in diameter and a travel speed of 120km/h. John is only controlling the wind behind him, so its power and speed decays right after he fires it, making the attack effective only around 6m from the starting position. Anywhere further than that wouldn't have enough power to lift objects anymore, even if the wind keeps traveling from this limit. If hit from the starting point and up to 2m, the wind will push a person up to 1m before touching the ground. At 3m, the wind doesn't have the strengh to push a person anymore, but it will still make them lose balance and fall. At 6m, it can only push light objects (like empty boxes and plastic balls). I confirm that I have read and agreed to the Rules of Conduct. once again, i do confirm Where did you find us? I was already here Total OM: 4900 RE: John Egbert (switching) - Minato Namikaze - 04-07-2016 Windy Thing - How fast does it travel? How large is it? I'm going to need more than just 'Around a street in width'. RE: John Egbert (switching) - Leonardo Watch - 04-08-2016 I've been doing some research on wind speeds and how it affects its surroundings, and... I still have no idea how to translate the numbers to its effects. I think 200km/h is enough to do what i want with the atttack, but i'm not sure. Here's the description: Quote:Windy Thing – 300 (Ranged, Area Attack, Ranged Materialize, Remote Control) (i didn't edit the original post, i'll do it once everything's in order) RE: John Egbert (switching) - Alex - 04-10-2016 Is there a 'wind up' (get it) for this? Or can John just like, spontaneously blast out a 125 mph wind gust? You put Remote Control. Can John change the direction of this wind? You also put Ranged Materialize. Where does this start? Just in front of John? Can it be thrown out from any location? RE: John Egbert (switching) - Leonardo Watch - 04-11-2016 The original attack was supposed to be inmeadiate (that is, 200km/h winds from nowhere!), but if you think it would be too powerfull, then i can add a wind up (heheh). I can also nerf the range, maybe 6m diameter + 25m length is too much. I supposed since the attack doesn't do damage, i could make it really powerfull The proficiencies... John is controlling all the wind in the area, including the limits, so Remote Control and Ranged Materialize looked appropiate, even if the attack doesn't change direction. I used Telekinesis to guess the proficiencies, and if you need "materialize" to move an object, then John will need it too to move the wind. And i wasn't very clear in the description, but the attack starts slightly behind John (1m) and has a cilindrical form (6m diameter, 25m length - John is in the middle of the circle) RE: John Egbert (switching) - Leonardo Watch - 04-14-2016 Updated the profile. Now the attack tt's not a hurracane-like thingy anymore, just a regular burst of wind that pushes things right in front of him Now that i don't need materialize and remote control anymore i could start with the powers i wanted RE: John Egbert (switching) - Minato Namikaze - 04-17-2016 I mean, 200 km/h winds are pretty strong, especially when they come out of nowhere and hit someone. That's going to do some sort of damage. RE: John Egbert (switching) - Leonardo Watch - 04-18-2016 (04-03-2016, 07:45 PM)John Egbert Wrote: Windy Thing – 300 (Ranged, Area Attack) Changed the speed to 120km/h, and nerfed the range as well (6m). Hope this works now, and if it's still too much, please tell me what speed should i use, because as i said earlier i dont really have a good idea how the speed translates to action, even after watching lots of videos of winds and hurracanes RE: John Egbert (switching) - Minato Namikaze - 04-20-2016 That sounds better. Just a last clarification though, how far back does it push people? RE: John Egbert (switching) - Leonardo Watch - 04-22-2016 (04-03-2016, 07:45 PM)John Egbert Wrote: Windy Thing – 300 (Ranged, Area Attack) A little question: if i was trapped in a dusty room and used this move, the dust will probably start flying around, dificulting breathing and maybe vision too.. Would this count as an exploit, since the move doesn't use the debuff prof? it's just plain old physics, but i want to be sure. Same with anything that could get caught by the wind (like plastic bags, a bunch of papers, sand, etc) RE: John Egbert (switching) - Minato Namikaze - 04-22-2016 My understanding of the move is that it's a wall of wind that is pushing things, not a gust of wind that blows around the room and stirs things up. It would most likely only push the sand with the wind itself, rather than kick the sand up and start a sand storm. Edit: Or the wind would probably just fly over the top of the sand, hardly having any sort of effect at all. RE: John Egbert (switching) - Leonardo Watch - 04-22-2016 Ok then, i'll take that in mind when the time comes to write the move on these kind of situations. I don't know if you noticed, but i added how far the wind pushes, just as you asked earlier (that's why i quoted the move again) RE: John Egbert (switching) - Minato Namikaze - 04-22-2016 Who did you switch from again?
