[Interest Check] Omniverse Gym challenge - Undyne - 02-05-2016 I just happened to think of this semi-randomly, but. A Pokemon Gym Challenge in the Omniverse, perhaps not actually done with Pokemon but involving the player character and the Gym Leader fighting a friendly match over a gym medal, rather than fighting with Pokemon. Those who gather all eight can participate in a special challenge, get a cosmetic reward or something. Possible ideas: -8 Primes as leaders, ideally they would stay in the verse they are the leaders of, or have a base with Recall Station so they can be available at a moment's notice. The problem being that the Gym Leader players might get dragged from whatever they are doing or are unavailable for a while because they are banished, in the void, the Oververse or such. Advantages include that you'll be most familiar with the character you play as. -8 NPC Primes or secondaries which are waiting and available to play. This would hog at least one space per participating player which might not be that big a problem for secondaries, but moreso for NPC Primes. It would keep the players' original character from needing to be ready at all times. -A limited-time event taking place in the Nexus, because that's neutral grounds. Either we organize an out-of-site tournament with an online game (like a Pokemon online tournament) or people can challenge the Gym Leaders for their medals. It would obviously need to be decided what type of fight it is - with Assist characters or between the challenger and leader, how to ensure that there is no (or minimal) waiting for the participants, what the engagement rules are if any, etc. I would also need suggestions for what sort of cosmetic or otherwise acceptable rewards (like a special move that must still be purchased by the player) you can think of, and if anyone knows what to do about the Elite 4 - as a group of Primes that are strictly more powerful than other Primes would just be unfair. And of course, do tell if you would be interested in playing a leader, and for what verse! Re: [Interest Check] Omniverse Gym challenge - Yu Kanda - 02-05-2016 I really like this idea....gives people a fun goal. Especially when you want to set up more gyms in other verses. Perhaps other players that are willing to help could be a gymleader in a different verse ? Re: [Interest Check] Omniverse Gym challenge - Tearen Wover - 02-05-2016 Depending on how many people choose to participate, this could potentially require as many as eight people to be almost full time judges. I'm not saying its a bad idea; I do like the concept. I just need to see the logistics worked out before I budget too much hype juice for it. Re: [Interest Check] Omniverse Gym challenge - Smith - 02-05-2016 It might work better as, rather than a fight, it just be a story thing. Let the participants determine the victor, in whatever manner they like. And, since most PCs seem to have atleast SOME other PCs they hang out with, their buddies could be Back-Up Gym Leaders, should their "boss" be out. Though if it's a quest-like thing we probably won't get too many fights at once. Or we can make up alternate rulesets to diversify the game and take some weight off the judges' shoulders. Decide who wins OOCly or through another game, then have a fight that doesn't need judgement because it is set to be won by one party from the beginning. And indeed, it doesn't have to be a single specific person who does the Gym leading. The badges could be rotated through a group of people who do the leading for a while. Re: [Interest Check] Omniverse Gym challenge - Smith - 02-05-2016 Another idea, if you go for the Story idea, you could just straight up make it Pokemon battles. They'd pretty much be "incidental weapons" in regards to what they're used for. Also, I wonder how the PLF will handle the news of a Pokemon League forming? I assume Wartortle will be planning some pretty public murders. My idea was to have maybe the Coliseum used as the stadium and have a tournament much like the Pokemon League Championships at the end of the Pokemon anime season 1. And Palpatine or Aragorn might not approve of non-authorized battles in their respective verses. And othe Primes with goals like Smith might want that opportunity to get rid of large numbers of secondaries at once, in Colosseums and such. If it works out it could be quite the epic series of story events! |
