A New Beginning - Jams Bolero - 02-03-2016

Several yards away from the group that intrigued him before, Jams was concentrated on the omnilium inside of him as he attempted to create a phone to connect to the internet. Without a backpack or similar carrying vessel, a laptop would be highly impractical whereas a phone could easily fit in the pockets of his black shorts. This phone was not like any phone he had ever seen, though. This phone was a technological mutant of his own imagination. It had the touchscreen capabilities of most tablet phones as well as the addictive snap of most flip phones when one opens them. He simply called it the "Touchscreen Clamshell," though it was really just a touch flip phone.

The exterior purple with a black rim along the front screen which read the time and notifications of new messages or missed calls. The inside was completely black with two screens separated by the hinge; the top was primarily used similarly to the screen on a flip phone while the bottom was mostly used for dialing and typing, however both could be used as touchscreens for entertainment purposes.

Turning the phone on, it activates nigh immediately due to Jams and his preference of a phone that didn't take a minute to start up influencing the phone's creation further. He promptly swaps out the background for a lovely scene of a forest of black trees and white leaves with a sunset-orange sky and black dirt with rainbow-hued ivy stretching across the ground. What was akin to Christmas lights were hung in the sky and patches of snow-white grass dotted the landscape. Several tens of hills rose up in the distance with a ginormous tree perched peacefully atop one aligned slightly right of the center of the picture. Truly a tranquil image, something that Jams could stare at for hours if it really existed. But it doesn't, obviously, so he stops fetishing obsessing over it and opens the app store.

Just as Jams suspected, there were quite an interesting array of apps. There were apps for emailing, texting, designing the arts, blogs and the like. After reading up on some of the descriptions, Jams decided to go with a game-designer called "VGDesigner ," a texting program called "PesterOmni" (Yeah, THAT sure rolls off the tounge...), a music maker called "Finale Notepad 2012," and a back-up for his iPod. After deciding to name himself jazzyWisenheimer on PesterOmni and starting about two measures on a piece of music, Jams suddenly realized that the group left without him. All except for one guy, the one who exploded in the distance earlier.

Suddenly realizing that he had left Jade rudely to make something as petty as a phone, Jams was slightly upset that she had left before he had the chance to apologize. Nonetheless, while he knew that her username correlated perfectly with PesterOmni's restrictions, Jams decided that he aught to introduce himself to this stranger properly and apologize to Jade at a later date. With only one person around, it was much less of a struggle for Jams to approach and introduce himself. Walking toward the robed man, Jams politely introduced himself. "Hey! Sorry I didn't introduce myself earlier, I was already in a conversation. My name's Jams, nice to meet ya!"

The man wore a dark-green robe that looked very rough, especially in comparison to Jams and his t-shirt and shorts. His robe had a hood that looked like it was designed for facial concealment rather than heat entrapment. His robe seemed rather loose, implying that the man was rather slender. His skin was of a generic hue, not too pale yet not too dark. His eyes were as green as finely cut emeralds from the jeweler, and his hair was as black as... actually, his hair wasn't black after all. Jams just barely noticed it, but it was an extremely dark shade of brown, a value that reminded Jams of black coffee before he tempered it with Italian Sweet Creamer and some sugar. As for the man's age, it was indeterminable; because of this, Jams simply didn't try to ponder about it.

Extending his arm out for a handshake, Jams awaited a response from the garbed man in green.

Re: A New Beginning - Soldier 75 - 02-03-2016

The eagerness of the guy in the red shirt as he quickly summoned his phone was akin to a zealous fanatic poring over a holy document. His hands moved fast, apparently setting it up to his liking. When he finally looked up, he gazed past Eric, in the direction of the main group. Glancing over his shoulder, Eric realized that they were already a fair distance away, and appeared to be heading for an ice-covered archway. Well, I certainly have no hope of catching up with them. Might as well see what this fellow is doing. Eric turned back to the man, noticing the words "AWE Inc." on his T-shirt. Before he could speak, however, he introduced himself, giving his name as Jams. Hearing the word immediately set his stomach growling with the mention of jam. I could do with something to eat, and a bit of rest for that matter.

Lost in thought, Eric barely spotted his out-stretched hand. Startling, the mage quickly moved to extend his hand in turn, but cringed as pain shot up his arm. With more caution, he continued his arm's journey, and finally reached Jams' hand. Firmly grasping it, Eric gave it a vigorous shake, and responded. "It's fine, I was being a bit ill-mannered trying to barge into your conversation. My name is Eric." He let go, breaking the contact, and peeked a look at the flip-phone in his other hand. Feeling his innate curiosity rising, Eric earnestly inquired, "What have you created? Some sort of communications device?"

Re: A New Beginning - Jams Bolero - 02-03-2016

After bookmarking Eric's name in his mind, Jams took a quick glance at his phone before holding it up and making hand gestures similar to salesmen or people who are pretentious about their green screen "skills." "Oh, this? It's a touch flip phone. Has two touchscreens for my entertainment, but has the addictive 'snap' whenever I flip it open! Jams promptly closes his phone and flips it open as an example. "It's pretty neat, certainly something I wanted to try out. Anyway, it seems like you're a bit famished. Or, well, a lot famished. Maybe you should conjure up some food?"

While he gave Eric time to conjure up food or ask another question, Jams decides he aught to work on making himself a new broom. In his mind, he made up an entertaining system called "styles," which allowed him to improve upon using certain kinds of weapons as he used them more and leveled them up. He primarily focused on the "Broomstyle," although he wasn't sure why he chose a broom over a sword, or even a simple hammer. However, despite his Broomstyle being reset to Lvl. 1 and the possibility to start anew, Jams still felt compelled to stick to the Broomstyle. It's all he had ever known (or, well, USED to have known). He decided to ponder on what it would look like over time, since designing a brand new broom every ten seconds would be an infuriating waste of effort.

Re: A New Beginning - Soldier 75 - 02-03-2016

"Interesting," Eric replied, examining the small purple device.. "And I feel hungry enough to eat a horse, if horse meat was something that I liked." Muttering to himself, the green-robed mage debated what food sounded most appealing at the moment with himself. Finally, after a moment of indecision, Eric began the conjuring process, envisioning a loaf of bread in his mind's eye, along with a jar of jam and a hunk of cheese. The process came naturally, as if he had been practicing it for decades. Soon, an orb of "Omnilium" emerged from his chest, slowly coming to a rest slightly in front of him, and began to flash through many colors. An amazing substance. Eric idly remarked. I doubt I've ever seen anything nearly as strange as this.

Within a few minutes, the multi-colored sphere commenced to fade away, leaving in its place the desired meal, which promptly plummeted to the blindingly white floor. Note to self: hold hands underneath if summoning anything fragile or volatile. Thankfully, the glass jar had only cracked a bit. Settling down, Eric began to tear into the delicious food, alternating between bites of cheese and jam-smeared bread.

Re: A New Beginning - Jams Bolero - 02-10-2016

Looking at Eric's recently attained feast, Jams began to conjure up a meal of his own. Getting into a more comfortable yet focused position, his legs and arms crossed with his eyes pointed toward the space in front of his stomach, Jams proceeded to visualize a savory, spicy meal that is eaten with a fork. Delicious red meat sauce and thin noodles, a combination that could potentially get you slapped for asking an Italian restaurant into serving you a plate. Combined with a side of two bread slices topped with cheese, garlic and herbs, this meal was one that Jams would always adore. Oh yeah, he also quickly remembers to imagine a fork to go with it before his dinner-lunch-whatever is conjured up.

The rainbow orb settles, and Jams begins to dig into his plate of spaghetti. Before eating, he stirred the meaI semi-thoroughly to spread out the flavor and texture of the sauce, his fork sweeping through the spaghetti with slight resistane. As soon as he did, Jams began to eat as if someone was trying to take his food from him. Noodles appeared to disappear out of thin air as the boy in red inhaled his grub at mach speed. The only time he stopped consuming the pasta itself was to take two or three bites out of his garlic bread. By the time Eric could have noticed Jams made himself some food, he had already devoured about a third of his meal.

Despite this, Jams still found time amongst his consumption of starchy goodness to communicate. "So," Jams said, "you seem to be new here too, huh?" He proceeds to chow down on another bite of spaghetti, his mouth half full. "You know, I've been thinking about wandering over to those black things in the distance. If that gate that Jade and co. left through is any indicator, then I imagine the other black specks must be too. Perhaps we should investigate together? Two heads are better than one after all." Jams takes a bite out of his bread, then thinks again. "Well... unless you're a hydra. Then only having two heads would really suck in comparison."

Re: A New Beginning - Soldier 75 - 02-10-2016

The food tasted as if it was made of heaven itself. At the moment, Eric could think of nothing else than the savory taste of the meal. Interrupting his thoughts, Jams began to ask a few questions, and invited him to investigate the gates together. Replying, Eric stated "Yes, I am indeed new, for I have only been in this realm for a short amount of time. And last time I checked, I had not sprouted an extra head." Pausing, he patted his neck, probing it for any odd protuberances "Nope. Not a hydra. Definitely still a human. And yes, I believe that I would enjoy exploring with you."

With a grin, Eric rose, and dusted off a few stray bread crumbs that had fallen into the folds of his robe. Peering off into the distance, he surveyed the vaguely arch-shaped objects in the distance with curious eyes. Still facing the distant gates, Eric asked Jams, "The nearest one is quite a walk away. Perhaps we could acquire some sort of transportation?"

Re: A New Beginning - Jams Bolero - 02-11-2016

"Hey, that's a great idea!" Jams replied, beaming. "I'll go with a more interesting concept this time around. Give me a second."

Jams got into a somewhat comfortable position, standing this time so as to not inadvertently demolish his legs. Before he started to utilize his omnilium, he thought of some ideas beforehand. So many ideas to test out! Perhaps a mundane Jeep Liberty? Or maybe a unique Catmobile? Oh wait, a magical flying cloud would be nice! So many possibilities, but ultimately Jams would decide upon one.

Summoning another poly-chromatic sphere from inside him, it slowly but surely reached it's way to a spot a couple of feet away from Jams. As it eventually touched ground, the bubble began to expand. The colors seemed to dance across the omnilium as it stretched to fit the shape of the vehicle, all the colors one could fit on a wheel could be identified in this singular orb. Vivid yellows and oranges, simple reds and greens, and calm blues and purples all coalesced onto a single point in space, bringing some much needed diversity to this blank slate of a world.

As the omnilium bubble faded away, it left in it's absence a pseudo-comet. Special levitation technology the likes Jams couldn't even begin to describe (but could certainly imagine existing) allowed it to hover slightly in mid-air. Unfortunately, Jams felt some strange feedback when he tried to imagine him and Eric riding the frozen orb high into the sky, but not when it was just slightly above ground. It seems flying vehicles aren't well respected in the Omniverse. The comet itself was presumably cold, but since it isn't really a comet but rather a machine emulating one, it was actually rather warm inside. A holographic projection would appear just behind the comet to emulate the tail. The size of it was three times taller than Jams and just as wide. A lid on the top hid the interior of the comet, housing a room with the controls and three seats, each adorned with a seat belt. Safety first, and all that jazz.

"Well, hop in Eric!" Jams said invitingly. After Eric entered the comet, Jams proceeded to investigate the controls. There was a steering wheel designed for flying travel as well, even though it was obviously only for decoration at this point. Two pedals, one for gas and another for brakes, were located under the wheel as they would a regular car. A speedometer was just over the wheel along with a gas meter that read "n/a". There was an ignition button and a shift which could be moved by holding down a button and... well, shifting it. Surrounding the entire area was a screen designed to preview what was outside the comet. This made it look appealing on the outside and functional on the inside.

Jams couldn't help but notice that the speedometer read "80 MPH." Feeling particularly dangerous, he proceeded to raise the speedometer to "81 MPH." He pressed the ignition button, stomped on the gas, AND...

The ship promptly smashed into the ground. Jams had never made such a disappointed facepalm in his life. Freakin' speed limits.

Re: A New Beginning - Soldier 75 - 02-12-2016

I'm inside a mechanical comet. I did not expect this. AT ALL. If nothing else, it's original. Settling into the seat to the right, Eric guided the strap across his body, and secured it on the other side, where it locked into place. The seat was surprisingly comfortable. They looked to be made of rough leather, but was a cozy as a chair in a metal comet could get. Jams closed the hatch, and entered the seat nearest to the controls. These were quite simple, not much more than two brakes, a wheel, and a few knobs, switches, and dials. After an initial lurch, the ride became quite smooth, almost as if they weren't even moving. That is, until Jams managed to ram it straight into the ground.

"What happened?"Eric asked. "Did we hit something? Jams muttered something about going over a speed limit. "This thing has a speed limit? Didn't seem like it was having any trouble. Weird. Anyways, we don't need to go that fast. We're already almost there." Pointing, Eric indicated a gate in the distance, which no longer was merely a speck on the horizon, but now had easily distinguishable features.

Re: A New Beginning - Jams Bolero - 02-20-2016

"We are? Oh jeez, we are!" Jams replies in a hyperbolic tone. The gate was not actually black as he once thought, but rather various shades of green and brown. As it looked from a distance, there seemed to be trees either carved or painted into the structure. It was too distant to tell as of yet, however, so he promptly began fiddling with the controls as to get the comet started up again. Upon resetting the speedometer to it's 80 mph limit, the vehicle rose slightly above the ground, glowing a somewhat bright shade of lavender. It seemed to await its next command.

Jams applied light pressure to the gas pedal, putting all the effort he could into safely arriving at their destination. The comet gradually increased in speed as it began flying toward the gate. Golden pixels began to trail behind the cold, metallic sphere, the shimmering tail growing longer as the ship's velocity rose. The large screen that surrounded him and Eric was quite poor, only giving off the quality of a 240p video image (as stated on the bottom of the screen), but it would do for such a simple area. The ship slowed to a halt as it arrived at the gate, sans the light bobbing up and down due to levitation.

The hatch popped open, and the two adventurers hopped out to examine a portal. Upon closer inspection, Jams noticed that the gate was not simply designed around trees, but seemed to be made of both trees and vines. It was surprisingly tall, although it makes sense when people like Grundy are brought into the Omniverse. Upon feeling the rough bark, it began to fall away at his fingers. The vines above seemed to stretch across the two ends of the portal, their leaves giving off a familiar hue of dark green, though he can't remember why. The actual portal itself was a sort of bright light that stretched across the archway and completely obscured the other side, however when comparing this floral gateway to the snowy one that the group left in, it would be easy to assume this leads to a sort of forest.

Unsure about how to properly conceal or contain his ship, Jams decides to simply park it right next to the gateway. "I have no clue what is on the other side," Jams informs Eric, "so I recommend that we go ahead and do our preparations here. It seems relatively safe." Immediately, he realizes that a broom would be somewhat weak in this situation, so perhaps a sword would be a better choice. Jams decides to take a seat on the ground, the portal humming in the background while he thinks of how his blade would look.

RE: A New Beginning - Soldier 75 - 03-05-2016

While Jams guided their comet to the mysterious gate, Eric peered through the view screen. The scenery was slightly blurred, but he could easily make out the archway from the landscape, seeing as it was the only color in the immediate vicinity. I wonder where it leads to...Suddenly, Eric noticed that Jams had begun to slow their speed, decelerating as they neared the gate. As soon as they came to a complete stop, Jams jumped up and exited, and Eric followed. Clambering out, he slid down the side, and deftly landed on his feet. His companion immediately began to inspect the portal.Wait... Is this made of living wood? The leaves are green and vibrant, and nothing seems to be dying. I'm not even going to think about how the hell this is even possible.

Jams spoke up, recommending that they prepare for whatever they might find on the other side."Great idea" Eric replied. "Judging from the gate, this appears to lead to some sort of wooded area."Let's see, what do I need... Definitely a pack, to store my things in. I already have Requiem if the forest is too dense. And some insect repellent will be handy as well. Those little blood-suckers aren't getting anywhere near me. Still muttering about the general evilness of insects, he shuffled off to the side, providing plenty of room for summoning.

Focusing, Eric first envisioned a large, dark-green pack, with multiple pockets and compartments. A flashing orb of multi-colored omnilium melted out of his chest, and started to materialize the backpack within its mysterious depths. Within a few minutes, the orb faded away, and dropped the pack into the mage's outstretched hands. Next came the bug repellent, which Eric, being the doofus that he is, had contained in a glass jar. And once again, the jar fell onto the ground with a loud CRASH, followed by an exodus of semi-solid beige paste out of the shattered remains. Eric proceeded to apply with great speed his palm to his face, issuing an audible noise filled with the echoing cries of frustration. With that inevitable situation out of the way, Eric moved on to a new spot. This time around, he took great care to avoid yet another mess, with more success than previously. The rough glass smoothly settled onto his hands, and obediently remained between them. Quickly, before yet another mishap could occur, the young mage transferred it into a special compartment, with thick walls surrounding it.

RE: A New Beginning - Jams Bolero - 03-08-2016

"Aha, yeah, I hate it when things like that happen," Jams replied in knowing acknowledgement of Eric's shout.  "There have been times where someone handed me something and I still dropped it as soon as they let go, my hand being under it and everything.  Also, ya think you got enough repellent?  Frickin', probably could make all the mosquitoes in the world go extinct with that much bug spray."  Having gone back on his idea for a sword, Jams decided to stick to his broomstyle.  However, seeing as he didn't remember what his old broom looked like, he still chose to wait and decide on how it would look.  As for the current time, the better option would be to make sure everything is in order.

"Alright, so what do I need?" Jams mumbled to himself.  "I'll need a notebook for sketching and note recording, and a bazillion pencils because I can't stop losing them.  A sharpener will also help, too, I guess.  A telescope could also aid in seeing far, because telescopes are cool and stuff.  Also, a small instrument could help for light entertainment.  Alright, then let's do dis!"

After about half an hour, Jams had created a simple marble notebook, five packs of 20 black pencils each with white erasers designed to remove marks without tearing up the paper, three hand-held sharpeners of red, blue and green colors, a silver and gold-painted telescope with seagulls drawn on the side, and a plastic recorder for light musical accompaniment from a plasticwoodwind instrument.  He also decided to make a simple 2-fold leather wallet for money, completely forgetting that anything he could potentially need could be formed from Omnilium.

"Well, we seem well prepared," Jams said with a smile.  "I'm ready when you are!  I'd recommend getting more than just bug spray, though, but that's just me."  As he said this, the boy in red strolled toward the edge of the portal as he sat on one of the roots emerging from one of the portal's lifelike tree pillars.

RE: A New Beginning - Soldier 75 - 03-16-2016

"Eh, I guess it is a bit of overkill," Eric quietly muttered. "But what's done is done. No use in wasting yet ANOTHER jar of repellent." Looking back to Jams, the mage noted that the he had begun the process of summoning as well. Oh wow. That's a lot of pencils. Pivoting slightly upon his foot, Eric turned back to the shimmering portal, and gazed deep into its depths. What lies behind this gate? The suspense is killing me. From behind, the green-robed youth heard Jams declare that he had finished his preparations. As he walked up to the portal, Jams suggested that Eric gather a few more items, other than his jar of bug spray. "Alright. Give me a few minutes to think of something." Wasting no time, Eric immediately set himself to the task, racking his brain for ideas. After a few moments of thought, something... emerged. It did not feel like a memory, but more like an impression of the past. This formed itself into.. journalism? The young magick user's conscience seemed to brighten, as if another wall blocking his memory had been torn down. Hmm... Oh wow. Just thinking about it, I'm getting excited. With barely controlled eagerness, Eric hurriedly began another round of summoning.

Soon, a pile of items lay scattered at the mage's feet. Firstly, a small journal, with swirling patterns of various greens adorning the cover. Within, smooth, crisp blank pages beckoned, begging to be filled. Depositing the book in a smaller compartment of his pack, Eric moved on to the next items. Imitating Jams, he had summoned a dozen matching pencils, each with a different assortment of colors and patterns. Unlike the pencils in Jams' possession, these would not require sharpening. Instead, through some magick, the they would never be changed. Of the twelve, there were three sections. Four of the pencils would remain extremely sharp, capable of producing sharp lines and dead enemies. The four on the opposite side of the spectrum would be made of dull, soft lead. The final four were in the middle, neither sharp nor dull, and neither soft nor hard. Capping each like a crown were bright yellow eraser, as if a star had been captured in each one. Snapping his head up, Eric realized he had been staring at the pencils for well over half a minute. The green-robed mage, embarrassed, shoved the writing instruments into a separate pocket.

Approaching Jams, Eric announced "I am ready. Let us go now". As soon as Jams confirmed his consent, Eric boldly strode into the swirling portal, eager for a new beginning. As he entered, the youthful magicks user was assaulted with thousands of various shades of green zooming past, as if he were flying through the canopy of a jungle at unimaginable speeds. He found that he no longer was walking, but a mix of flying/falling. The colors sped by faster and faster, until a white opening in the distance appeared. Within the blink of an eye, the aperture was upon him, and he was swallowed into its depths.
